  1. The title's self-explanatory, but here are the details. I'm experiencing some trouble with the hinges in my XF-85 Goblin replica. More specifically, they have a tendency to freeze up while in action. Sometimes it's one hinges, sometimes it's both, other times I get lucky and they're both working properly - until they don't. Even when I revert to SPH and launch again, whether or not the hinges would work has become unpredictable. Cute, but I didn't design this just to give salutes in Air Force parades. For the record, my original plan was to have it launch from a stability enhancer - but each test ended in explosions. Here's what I have set up for both servos. As you can see, I didn't mess with the symmetry. Could you please tell me how to fix it. If you want to mess around with it and/or provide a predictably working copy (one whose servos can be trusted to work every time), here's the craft file if you want to try it out for yourself. https://mega.nz/file/fL52CQLQ#1-We2O0mCHTyx6DXuppJ_yEjQ6kJLvw47aCDoTCp400 I don't really care for takeoff stability, since it was originally designed IRL to be launched from a host plane. After I got both wings down, once I got airborne it flew very well. Thank you all very much. P.S. For the record, I made the wings fold since the real-life Goblin was designed to be stowed in a bomb bay and then deployed once the bomber was attacked by enemy fighters. That project ended up getting cancelled in 1949 due to: Too many failures in the "attach to the mothership" part during testing. Lackluster performance compared to other jet fighters. Development of aerial refueling technology for escorting fighters. P.P.S. I based the general design somewhat off of fatology's pure stock copy of the Goblin.
  2. Description After the successful prototype of KMS-01, and the groundbreaking work of the MS-02 Zephyr, further R&R results in a much slimmer, scaled-down version with enhanced mobility and onboard and external weapons with mass production capabilities produced the new MS-03 Xanthus. MS-03 Xanthus is geared to handle within the Kerbol system to combat Space Pirates and destabilized nation-states. Also can perform in Multi-rolled tasks and can be used for Construction, First Responder, Military application and the list goes on. Able to recover from falls and with a smaller frame means it will be more stable than previous models. Interchangeable parts will allow you to customize and use the mainframe as a stepping stone if you choose. (recommended different head styles to compliment or different hands (default grab units) Action groups have been designated to dedicated KAL9000 Robotics. All parts are fully stock with only using DLC for required usage. No need to download flags if you choose not to but HIGHLY recommended if you want the full look for the mobile suit. Action Groups and Pilot Instructions Toggle SAS and set navigation to Radial Out Space bar (Fire head Particle Cannon make sure to raise face cover using I, K keys) AG1 to Stand AG2 to Walk (Note: Default stable run speed is 1.6 speed at around 4.0 -5.5 m/s can increase to 1.4 and get 6 - 7 m/s but will fall more often) AG3 Sit and Stand animation (Note: can sit on objects and use this to start tilting forward. Once in position, you can hit AG1 to stand up if you fall over. This is also needed to dock and undock kerbals in the cockpit. AG4 Kneel ( used to conserve energy. Once in a kneeling position, you can turn off SAS as well as use this for stable shots from Particle Cannon AG5 Ready Particle Cannon (press AG 8 to Fire) AG6 Grab Particle Cannon (do this prior before engaging walk mode) AG7 emergency Toggle for ARM AG8 Fire Particle Cannon AG 0 Toggle Cockpit Armor Further Notes: When launching I recommend using Unlimited Energy (all mechs on ksp use a TON of energy you can use it without it does not take long to fully charge) (You can turn on unbreakable parts/crash damage if you would like but I usually run with this off. Make sure if you are falling or tripping over to fall either chest first or back. The main things that will explode are the navigation lights and arms if moving on hard drops.) The Root part to move the unit is the back radial docking port. Attach to docking. Use this to easily dock with other craft to transport this unit to other sites by flying transport aircraft or to take off the planet. It will not fit in a standard MK3 Cargo unit and will need to have a custom cargo bay. Other than that have fun! 3. https://youtu.be/bt5p_knRMps This video goes over how to create a walking rover that can both turn in place and steer while walking. A basic Kerbin Version is covered in detail, then a more advanced Duna version is briefly covered. This design uses four legs each pointing at diagonal angles. This allows each leg's walking animation to be the same (aside from flipping the directions of some things), meaning you only have to animate one step. Each leg gets its own controller, and then multiple master controllers synchronize those stepping animations to create walking and turning movements. This video allows you to build a specific rover, but once you get the idea you could probably modify the design.
  4. To Use. Press Space to stage the Dual Fuel Cell Array While standing straight press Radial out Press 1 to walk Press 2 to plank (stand or lay straight arms down) Press 3 to perform stand animation Press 4 to reverse stand animation Details Type: SPH Class: rover Part Count: 359 Pure Stock Side note: If you curious about the process or if you messed something up and need to get it fixed here is the default setup! If you Fall Over: Press Sas to turn on (make sure you are not in radial out at this time.) get in this position to stand (lay forward on chest in plank position) Hold S to get footing when feet have met the ground on tip of toes and knee to the ground) When fully straight press Radial out to stabilize and press 1 to start walking The pinnacle of mech technology is here after over a year of research under the banner of Project K comes from the Kerbal Federation introduces its new Mech Suit Unit. Kerbal Mech Suit or designated KMS-02-A. The planet variant model insures get stability in walking, can now stand after a major fall so no more needing to reset the module for Kerbal Space Station pick ups stands up straight and go into a plank like posture on the ground (lay on chest to stand). By syncing to the planetary body it stands on and maximizes its gravity by radial out to hold its standing position while in a constant falling forward motion. Most Kerbals call this walking but we have a hard time doing this ourselves just getting out of the cockpit on a simple munar exertion. We are looking into creating a Space Variant soon while we are working on the stable animations to achieve this as well as balance of weight. Since this would be a space variant some walking properties may have to be discarded but maybe we can create a transforming model? Or we could go with a |wave rider solution. We will see. its up in the air. We have heard from onimus that the Duna Colony has been creating a Mech suit as well. We may have to send a scouting party to investigate but due to funding we may have to wait. We will keep in touch. This is Wernher von Kerman out. 5. I'm creating a V-22 Osprey replica with the new robotic parts (incredibly original idea, I know). I am using the largest helicopter blades and the R7000 turboshaft engine. The vehicle lifts off fine, albeit with some help from vernor engines, but the second I enter it into "plane" mode the engines are massively too weak to propel it, capping at about 35m/s. The vehicle weighs 66,5 tonnes. Is there any way of improving the thrust/weight ratio without adding more rotor/jet engines? Why is it that they have enough power to lift the whole thing off the ground, but not to propel it? Since I'm new here and couldn't figure out how to insert images into my post, here's an imgur link: https://imgur.com/a/msRQ73z
  6. So I need help with breaking ground robotics. The issue is that I am trying to make a 2 legged walker. When I tried to edit the rotation in the controller the legs it did both legs instead of just one. Also the servos move in opposite direction of each other. Please help!
  7. this take off looks amazing. i'm planning to add more features to the craft.
  8. Hello! I have a challenge: Build a Mecha (a large machine controlled by a human/kerbal). As it's really hard to move things in only stock KSP, I'm allowing the use of mods for movement of arms, legs, and other things. It can be as small as you want or as big as you want, no size rules apply (But no excessive use of TweakScale). Submit your designs below, but more importantly, have fun!
  9. Right Now am trying to make a robotic arm from infernal robotics and i have made the robotic arm But I Haven`t got something to allow it to attach to other things Can You Please Help
  10. Imagine it is the year 2021. Mars 2020 has launched last year, and is now operational on Mars. Europa Clipper is set to launch in 4 years, and is being constructed- meanwhile, the Uranus Orbiter (and atmospheric probe) is undergoing planning and design for launch in 2030. ( Let's just say, just to get that out of the way) You are responsible for selecting 3 flagship missions NASA should pursue for the next 10 years. (Not exactly realistic, but lets's just say) What missions would you propose and choose? The list should be in order of importance. My list: 1. Mars Sample Return (taking the samples cached from Mars 2020, and returning team back to Earth- this is important, so that the samples are obtained before the rover breaks and complicates things.) 2. Titan Orbiter and Lander (A solar-powered probe that does multiple flybys of numerous Saturnian moons for a few years before settling in orbit around Titan. Then the probe would release a lander to the surface of Titan, which does a parachute-assisted landing on one of Titan's seas- and is very similar to TiME, but using normal RTGs instead) 3. Neptune-Triton Dual Orbiter Mission (Sends two orbiters to Neptune. One is released to study Neptune from Neptune Orbit, while the other goes into Triton Orbit to study the moon.) What missions would YOU choose?
