  1. Greetings one an all, We are currently seeking test pilots. We have openings is our alpha team which primarily tests Star Trek equipment. No qualifications required as we are seeking input on how to make them better. To apply, PM me. Thank you Skunk Works command.
  2. The Runabout is ready for delivery. https://spacedock.info/mod/1740/Danube Class Runabout?ga=%3CGame+3102+%27Kerbal+Space+Program%27%3E Enjoy
  3. I have a question concerning skunk works creations, perhaps you as a community can help. Replication of star wars vehicles, I have painstakingly recreated star wars models, but I am wondering where the copy write laws apply? This is our next planned release. The SWTOR line. Ideas?
  4. High over Kerbin...
  5. The Yt1300 Mynock on approach to Typhon Station which orbits Kerbin at 900000
  6. This is the Page where we discuss the Famed YT1300 and its Mods. Post images and show off your SHIP!
  7. Just how sci fi are you? This ship is the.....?? (I know)
  8. Was fiddling around with this model, and turns out I had a need as station Kevin was hit by debris killing 4 out of 17 crew. Rescue operation. So I through this at the problem, the moon bus from 2001 a space odessey, it holds 10 passengers plus 2 crew. Pictured is Gateway Kerbin II with 4 bus vehicles docked and a sat maintenance version.
  9. This is the post area for all Skunk_Works related questions. The X34 Land speeder is out. This model cheats the laws of physics, but is very fun and the fastest rover available. NOW RELEASED The Xwing (T65b) The Ywing The A wing The B wing The Standard Tie Fighter Coming Soon And a Build a YT 1300 toy box. Stay tuned, I will check here from time to time. 10. Zettai ryōiki (絶対領域, lit. "absolute territory") One Morning I woke up and felt like creating the coolest car I ever made. So I did Kerborghini! Lately, in the forums and in KerbalX there seem to be a crazed with realistic looking jet-power racecars elaborately constructed out wings and fuel cells stock parts, each made with hundreds of parts carefully placed and rotated in such a way that it resembles an artist forming his vision with delicate strokes of a paintbrush on a canvas. Except the vision of these artists were to create vehicles capable of outperforming one another, either in looks or in some sort of lap time or even both. What seems like a fad in a minor sect of the KSP community soon turn into a (somewhat) fierce but ultimately healthy competition. What a handful of dedicated builders did was greatly advanced the way cars should look and handle, with new designs and techniques to conquer the road. There was a flavor to each car, a distinct telltale style that makes it easy to tell which car was built by which person. With every new uploaded craft that somebody shared with the world was one that tried to outdo the one uploaded just before, each car you could see the work and soul put in it to be the very best. I used to believe that one of the weakest aspects about KSP was the rovers. Rovers were by far my least favorite thing to build and use ever since wheels were added to the game. Rover wheels were slow, they had to be slow else they would either pop on the slightest bumps and cracks or flip out the entire vehicle when making any turn above 20 m/s unless you abused some ridiculous looking exploit. I was a kid who grew up on racing video games~I have a natural craving for speed. All the rovers felt like driving Reliant Robins with skis instead of wheels, going downhill in a sand dune while it is raining. It is just not fun for me to drive a car that doesn't look like a car, doesn't feel like driving a car, and there aren't any streets in Kerbin to drive them on. Car building was something I consider obsolete and never was part of my focus. It was something I did not understand, did not care, and did not try. It wasn't until the newer updates like 1.2.1 were the more refined physics allow for greater building. This is why I found all the new types of cars that people were building recently to be so interesting. Cars that look and drive like cars should - It was thrilling. A new unknown side of this game reveals itself to me like exploring the dark side of the mun for the first time. I grabbed the hand offered to me and wanted to see what I can do myself. I too wanted to try to the very best myself. People have told that this car is unique in the way that it looks, that it is different in design from the others, but I disagree on a personal level. To me, this car was built with somebody who holds on to old ideas and designs rather use the new techniques. If you ask me in 2015 at version 1.0.5 of the game to build a car it would look identical, down to the decision of foreboding rover wheels with aircraft landing gear instead and the placement of the Juno engines and the nosecones would be the same. It would look and handle just the car you see now. I don’t feel like I truly did create a car that feels new, that uses the newer building styles, a craft that doesn't hold up with the craft of the artisans before me. I fail my job to evolve with the community. To call it unique feels like a cruel joke because it is like saying I am the only one who builds kerbal cars like this anymore. I feel outdated, however, I do find the idea of being an artifact also charming. Why am I writing this before the post? I personally do not know. Maybe I wanted to find meaning and fulfillment by concentrating my thoughts into the screen. Maybe I just wanted to share what goes through my mind at least in theory, because when you can make others understand you, you can understand yourself better. Nah dude I'm just talking out of my ass the entire page. I just wanted to build a cool car. What Do you expect some funny text here? I just want people to download my car Special mentions to @he_162 for getting me into kerbal cars and @azimech for probably single-handedly making cars in KSP better in general and special mentions to @LABindustries who started track times and races that made everything more competitive. Bless to anyone who I forgot to mention. Did you just watch Bladerunner for the 8th time? Do you have an Itch that can only be scratched by a futuristic hovercar that can rule both the air and the land? Boy do I have the car just for you! Boring details: [Type]: SPH. [Class]: rover. [Role]: VTOL flying and driving in atmospheric bodies. From Left to Right, Grade B, Grade A, Grade S It is actually three slightly different versions of the same car this time. They differ in appearance and handling. It uses a Grade based naming system but no car is really much better or worse than the other. The difference is as follows: Grade A is the standard model version and Grade B and S are derivatives. Grade B sheds weight and drag by exposing most of the bodywork giving it unparalleled agility in the air and has the best VTOL Grade S has two panther engines instead of 1 for horizontal thrust making it the fastest version of the car on the ground. Has more weight and higher part count. 11. "A monstrous tripod, higher than many houses, striding over the young pine trees, and smashing them aside in its career; a walking engine of glittering metal, striding now across the heather; articulate ropes of steel dangling from it, and the clattering tumult of its passage mingling with the riot of the thunder." - H. G. Wells, 1898
  12. Hi all, who's been watching the new series of Dr Who? Next week's episode is the season final, and is going to be very important, and climactic. A ship full of Cybermen, the Master, and judging by the trailer, FLYING JETPACK-CYBERMAN! Anyway, this is just a topic to talk about Dr Who, whether it be the villians, what happened in an episode, theories (can't be completely silly, must have sensible grounds to base it on!), companions, even memes! Just don't rip a fabric in time and space!!!
  13. Item #: SCM-1208 Object class: Euclid Specialized Containment Measures: SCM-1208 is to be contained in Warehouse 14 of Site-12 under guard supervision, in the guise of a corporate storage facility. Guards are to be armed with rubber bullets and pepperspray. Object's warehouse must be air-conditioned to no more than 30 degrees fahrenheit at all times. If air conditioning fails or warehouse otherwise falls below minimum temperature, a CCMK42 liquid nitrogen air vehicle is to be deployed to Site-12 immediately and Class-C amnestics administered via water supply and hidden air filtrators to nearby population. If these measures fail, protocol UVC-12 are to be enacted immediately and Class-A amnestics admitted to the city of Los Kerbos. Description: SCM-1208 is a disk-shaped craft found presumably crashed near the ███████-██████ region near Kerbin's ████████ pole. It has no features and no opening, but at temperatures higher than 36.4 degrees fahrenheit, it has been shown to levitate approximately 5-7 meters above the ground. If temperatures exceed 60 degrees fahrenheit, the object will begin moving towards object SCM-1208-1. SCM-1208-1 is a dead 2 meter tall humanoid entity in advanced stages of crystallization consistent with 8-12 years of exposure to the ███████-██████ region's particularly inhosbitable environment. It is stored in Site-12's cryonics laboratories, Experimentation Wing. When SCM-1208 is hovering directly overhead SCM-1208-1, it will rapidly defrost and repair SCM-1208-1's organic matter at a rate of 1kg of restored flesh per 1 minute. If SCM-1208 is restored to a temperature below 36.4 degrees fahrenheit, the object will cease repair of SCM-1208-1's organic matter. It will then move to the warmest location within a 400-600 meter radius before rapidly cooling. Object can safely be recontained at this point. Open file: SCM-1208-1.jpg

I awake to the sound of machinery and heavy footsteps. I know not where i am or what i have been called for, only that my time has come again to kill and die in the name of Kermanity. I remember not my childhood, my friends, my family nor do i possess sentiment towards these things, for my heart has long been turned to stone by my rigorous training. I get up from my pod and move my body, and realize that my body is a hulking tower of plasteel and nanofibre. Yet gracefully do i move, towards the center of the room. I turn and scan the area to see naught but a heavy metal door of which i can hear muffled, mechanical voices behind. No doubt, they are those of Servitrons, here to collect me for my task. I face the door as it croaks open with a heavy grinding and a blinding light. I am approached by four Adeptus Rocketrius servitrons holding various construction implements in their claws. One of them stands front-and-center to me and pulls out a scroll, kneeling as it opens it. Corporal Bogbie Kerman, by order of Chapterhead Jebediah, you are hereby unfrozen and drafted into combat in the defense of Eve's southern poles as part of The Yottaton Offensive. In these battle(s), you will be given one (1) storm sepratronner, one (1) warbooster and one (1) flagsword. Your commanding officer shall be Sergeant Rothco. Your battle tactics and general information will be given to you at his quarters in munar orbit. Come with us. I follow the servitrons down a large series of hallways of permacrete and pipes. Through a large wooden double-door i enter an atrium fitted with a large aperture, evidently an airlock as indicated by a large transport ship on it's center. Looking outside the glass it is clear that i am standing on the surface of Duna, Kerbalkind's industrial powerhouse, extremely populated and developed. Despite that being so, Kerbalkind is still limited to Kebba and Duna alone - the other planets were found to harbor insidious lifeforms that sought the downfall of my race. Laythe, the Humans had attempted to colonize in their titanic interstellar ark, fleeing the destruction of their eternity-distant homeworld. The savage and brutal Mooks, mutated Kerbals that hold land on Eve's inhospitable landscape that attempt to kill anything in their sight. The Cores, an artificial threat created by members of Kerbalkind that did not care for the future have taken control of Eeloo, but they are mostly Humanity's problem. And on Bop, the deadly Deep Space Kraken waits to tear apart anything it sees. And beyond the Kerbol System comes a horror beyond description - an all-consuming hive of plantmatter known as the Oppressionids. The Yottaton Offensive is the single largest military campaign underway currently, and the oldest one ever to be recorded - lasting an astounding 4,301 years. My thoughts and reflections are cut short by the sound of the ship's door opening. Inside I lumber into, storing myself in a rack to prevent my immense body from rattling. The ship lifts off into the opened aperture lock and into the depths of space. Four minutes later, the ship is docked inside of a much larger one. I step into the hangar of it. Easily twice the size of the dunar hangar, easily thrice the capacity of the dunar hangar. In the hangar are dozens of other ships all containing Sky Soldiers like me, all headed into battle in the name of The Kraken-Emperor of Kerbalkind. We are funneled into a series of large dropships where we are fitted in to rows of racks for transport. Away this hulking ship flies towards Holy Kebba... A travel of 2 days is completed to the sight of my ship entering a titanic spaceport that seemed to be attached to the Mun itself by a massive tether. We exit the ship and walk down a bogglingly large corridor and into a titanic dome, lit by Kerbol's loving embrace and the stars that shine the heavens with their hearty, cold rays. Our briefing begins when at the center of this enormous world-dome we are greeted by a hulking beast easily twice the size of even Sky Soldiers. Greetings, men. I am sure you know what we are here for already, if not, allow me to give you a rundown. In exactly 5 days, you are all going to be released into the brutal Eveian wastelands to combat Mook warbully Kilrok and his heavy armored forces. This dome contains ancient technologies from ages long past, allowing for the production of holographic simulated combat. In the next five days, you will be subjected to this simulated combat to prepare you for your tasks. The first of these training simulations begins now. The sergeant stood there as an army of holographic Mooks appeared behind him. Into the air, the sergeant is lifted by a white hoverdisk. I ready my weapon. Y40305.D249.0:00:00 I awake to the sound of the alarm being raised. Me and my squadmates get out of our pods and enter our armor and collect our swords. We need no sergeant for this, we know wehere we are going and why we are going. Our drop-pods pummel through the emerald sunset and land over a strangely quiet plain near a shore of a craterlake. Me and my fellow Sky Soldiers emerge and walk towards our target 45 miles from here. Along our way we notice destroyed fortifications and machines. We collect all the ammunition we can find. When we reach our target, a large base of spikes and chains and iron plates, we were fully prepared. Our squads took strategic positions near rocky outcroppings and readied their weapons. Empirical bombers flew overhead and unloaded their payloads over the enemy's armor depot. Now was the time to act. My squad sprang out of cover and opened fire on the guards near the rear entrance to the base, tearing their flesh into thin strips of bacon that rapidly shriveled without their skin's protection from Eve's environment. We arranged ourselves into a bolt formation and pierced their walls, destroying anything and everything they could use to take cover. At this moment we were met by Kilrok himself, clad in a hulking suit of rustic technology that put even a Horrornought to shame. As per our usual tactics, we target it's remarkable thin ankles. Kilrok's mech fell without grace, just as the fight had began. I had the honor of cutting his skull with my flagsword. We routed the remaining Mooks out of the area and collected all the supplies we could, moving onward to our next target.
  15. Howdy everyone! I figured I'd make a quick post to talk about some new, fun, sci-fi KSP stuff I've been working on. I've adding a lot of different mods and editing a lot of .cfg files to create one of the closest things I can get to a sci-fi/futuristic version of KSP. Keep in mind I'm not talking about futuristic as in what we will see in a hundred or so years, I'm talking about stuff straight out of games like Halo, Titanfall, and Star Citizen. Super efficient engines, FTL capability, giant flying boxes that can somehow fly inside the atmosphere. You know what I'm talking about, and if you're anything like me then you absolutely love all that fake, fun, nerdy, sci-fi stuff. Anyways... I was thinking about the possibility of doing a sort of series out of it all and posting stories relatively regularly here. It would force me to become a little more active here on the forums and make me play a little more KSP than I do currently(both things which I should really be doing). I have no idea where I'm going to go with this or if I will even keep up with it, but I figured I'd make this post just to let the community know about this and hopefully get some feedback. Feel free to ask any questions you have and please, please, please don't hesitate to give me suggestions for literally anything! I'd love to know what you think! I'll post some pictures below of different spacecraft I've developed for it just for a reference for the kind of stuff I could be posting. Here are some RRODD (Rapid Response Orbital Deployment Defense) troopers dropping from orbit. They're basically ODSTs from Halo, but I didn't want to steal the name. Here is an S23 Pelican flying away from an old colony ship. Here we have a Black Tip-Class Littoral Combat Ship preparing to warp out of Eeloo orbit. And here is a Constellation Andromeda-class Guided Missile Destroyer flying into LKO. It has a crew capacity of about 300, is approximately 120 meters long, and weighs a whole heck of a lot. Here it is preparing to warp out of the Kerbin System. Here we have a Retribution-class Orbital Battleship warping to the nearby star Plapau (I use the mod "To Boldly Go" which allows you to create relatively customizable star and planetary systems. Check it out if you haven't already because it's really cool.) Here we see an S23 Pelican inspecting a derelict Draco-class carrier scheduled for decomissioning in LKO. Draco-class carriers are just shy of 600 meters in length (I forget the exact weight of it, but I believe it is in the millions of tons). This large fighter aircraft is the ADF-101 Falcon. It is a dual-purpose space/air fighter (hence the wings). So far all of my spacecraft are capable of atmospheric flight (including the capital ships). Only the smaller spacecraft are capable of landing. I plan on making some very small one person and drone controlled, carrier based spacecraft that are meant purely for space combat. This will allow me to make them super small and sleek. Here is the Warlock X5. It fills a similar role to the ADF-101, but is intended primarily for space combat. Hence why it is a little sleeker and has less wing to it. It performs fine in atmosphere though, however the way the control surfaces are mounted it doesn't have a large amount of yaw control. That's about it for right now. I have a few more spacecraft not pictured here and plenty more under construction. Sorry for this not being quite as short of a post as I had hoped it to be. I got a little ahead of myself. Yet again, let me know if you have any suggestions for anything at all and of course let me know what your thoughts are on this whole idea. I do appreciate any feedback (critical or not) from you guys and look forward to what this might become. At the very least I have a pretty awesome version of KSP to mess around with. Cheers, Taylor
  16. Well the eagle is done and on the spacedock. Coming soon...
  17. Coming soon, the Eagle Transporter. All pods, medlab, passenger, vip, cargo, sky crane, over drive booster, very well balanced, 238 tons mass, up to specs for the show Space 1999. Bored with casual trips to the min? Stay tuned.
  18. I'm a fan of Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy, and wanted to recreate the Ares from Red Mars in Kerbal. It's a HUGE ship, eight rights of six large tanks each, nuclear propulsion, room for 100+ Kerbals and their gear to get to Duna and setup a permanent base. Here's the YouTube playlist with the trailer and the first two episodes, lots more recorded!
  19. Before starting this discussion, I'd like to make a couple things clear. Please read and comprehend these points prior to participation, as they're important to the purpose of the discussion. 1. This is a science fiction discussion. A certain "softness" of the science is expected. 2. "Plausible" is here used to mean "close enough to reality that someone who payed attention in high school physics wouldn't scoff at it." 3. FTL implies either matter transport or information transport. Some forms of plausible FTL allow both, others are exclusive to one. Both inclusive and exclusive are encouraged. 4. Don't bring the "pick two" here. We'll assume a simplified approach without the interrelations between relativity and causality. Basically, take the "don't look too close" approach. 5. If you really have to bring the "pick two" around, realize that we're positing that FTL is possible, so you'll have to drop R or C. 6. Actual explanation is far more interesting than vomits of technobabble. Try to throw something together that accurately describes the concept before resorting to nonsense. 7. Internal consistency is valued above consistency with real physics, but don't stray too far. With that out of the way, here's the topic of discussion: Create a plausible method of faster-than-light travel and/or communication. You may create your own, or build upon someone else's, but don't rip people's drives apart. I'll begin. Spacefolder FTL drives are the familiar "wormhole" drive. They fold space in an inaccessible "fourth spatial dimension" such that origin and destination approximate the same position, then puncture a tunnel through the intervening space. Spacefolders require advanced knowledge of gravity and fourth-dimensional geometry, and may require species of matter with interesting effects on space, such as exotic matter. This FTL paradigm may allow coherent matter to transit, but it may also restrict passage to bare mass or information. This depends upon the math and the size of wormhole possible.
  20. I wonder does anyone watched this series, i liked and i think it was too short. It was about ordinary Family that due to exposure too certain substance, get superpower, the father goes super strength, mother get super speed, their daughter get psionic power like mind control and their son get superintelligence, while he wasnt smart before that and is rather wimpy. So most of family think intentionally that he is not affected. But he get into football team (despite not having footballer physique) and become the best player, because he bring football down to science and mathematical anastasis of tactics of game, but later as his super parents found that he had superpower as super IQ, it was does is ethical for him to play the game, if he had such powers? Does is unfair advantage? but after all he not wanted it he get it's by accident? I'm just wonder does is would be good use genetic engineering to be better on Olympic games?
