  1. Try to make it into orbit with the PE and AP at 100 km with only a Stock Xenon Engine. If you're up for the challenge post it on Utube.

  3. Well. You guys asked for it! So here it is! So I am now releasing the rotor bearings used to power my popular "Kinchook" stock Chinook helicopter replica to the public. They're very simple and low part count. A single probe core between two fuselages surrounded by Ibeams can hold rotors soundly in place under even the most stressful conditions. The base bearing subassembly is only 14 parts! But don't forget to add struts on your own holding the Ibeams and structural components in place as this is necessary to keep the bearing functioning stable. As you add power and weight to the rotors or spinning application make sure to add more struts! This is a must! for example when used on the Kinchook have 16 added struts each. This number will vary based on the application and sometimes may require no struts at all. I hope you enjoy this subassembly and can make your own awesome helicopters with it. They are less suitable in other applications but that does not make them impossible. The sky is literally the limit though. Unless you can make some crazy space helicopter. Download is beneath. Make sure to paste the file into the subassembly folder of the corresponding save file you want it in. Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lb821ilzmcft5fx/JRFB-Mk1.craft?dl=0
  4. Stock plane with propeller powered by electricity. Max speed over 40-50 m/s. Mass: 9.99 t. Take-off: 1) Press stage 2) Activate SAS 3)Switch to propeller with ‘[’ or ‘]’ key 4)Hold Alt + E until roll indicator not reach right edge. 5)Switch back to aircraft with ‘[’ or ‘]’ key Don`t forget to rise landing gears. After 4 step plane will take-off automatically. You can also fly manually (without SAS or any stabilization) for it press 1 to disable reaction wheels and press T to disable SAS (if enabled). 5. More pictures: http://imgur.com/a/Iohgy Huge self-propelled mining platform, can drill for ore on any sea at maximum depth. Using the power of autostruts it's possible now to keep a drill head connected to a ship and just let it sink to any depth. On Kerbin the max depth is ~1200m. The "cable" is even longer than that. Yes, part count is high. The "cable" has most of it. You can reduce part count by deleting stuff from the superstructure you don't need. For example the walkway has a bunch of emergency lights (they're just folded up ladders). The ISRU is located behind the crew cabin. Please notice: "Part Pressure Limits" needs to be OFF (Difficulty options -> advanced). Also, you need advanced tweakables enabled. How to operate: 1. Sail to the location with ore. 2. Use the console to visualize the autostruts (Alt-F12 -> Physics). 3. Disable all the autostruts on the "cable". Doesn't matter which sequence. 4. The drill starts sinking. This takes time. You can speed it up using physics acceleration (ALT- >). Do not use more than 3x. 5. Make sure you enable the fuel cells, the solar panel and the radiator. 6. Normal time acceleration resets the "cable" and drill to it's original location! Also when moving out of physics range or going back to menu. 7. Use this to your advantage. If you're done drilling, set a number of "cable" elements and the drill to "Autostrut: Heaviest Part". 8. With the cable extended, use "Aim Camera" to navigate along it. Have fun! Oh and forget about Laythe. The seas over there are more than twice as deep. Download link: https://kerbalx.com/Azimech/77I--Offshore-Mining-Platform-v10
  6. Incompatible with joint reinforcement mods. For best results your game's physics should be under vanilla conditions. I thought you guys would appreciate me sharing my newest helicopter. This time it's a tandem rotor helicopter inspired by the CH-47 Chinook. As you can tell from the video the new high strength bearings and motors are very reliable and can even propel the helicopter to 30 M/s in forward flight. It has enough fuel for a flight to the island airfield and back. Being able to hover unloaded with only about 75% throttle the Kinchook has enough power and room to carry a decent load of cargo. This helicopter is great for all your utility and transportation needs. Specs. KH-47C Mass: Approx. 45 tons Powerplant: (2) [ x3 Bladed Rotors powered by Juno Basic Jet engines ] + (2) Panther Engines Part Count: 215 Parts Minimum Take-off and Hover Throttle Percentage: 80% Fuel Duration at 75% Throttle: 1 Hour And you know the best part? No Mods Required EVER! Always Stock all the time. [KH-47B] Download (Dropbox): https://www.dropbox.com/s/30rspmbe8m41kmr/KH-47B Kinchook.craft?dl=0 Kelaz-45T Refueling Truck: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dq5kikgvbtjlozf/Kelaz 45T.craft?dl=0 The brand new KH-47B variant of the Kinchook features refuel-able motors that can be docked with the Kelaz-45T fuel truck. With this new technology the Kinchook will have infinite range as long as there is a truck to refuel it. The KH-47B variant also comes with a claw on the underside to grab sling-loads off the ground. The rotor blades have also been tweaked to be more fuel efficient. This package comes with general cosmetic cleaning of the airframe of the helicopter. If you're still not satisfied out of the Helicopter you can download the all new KH-47C variant that pushes the Kinchook to an even higher degree. Instead of having those rear cosmetic engines you have two real Panther engines attached to the rear rotor pylon that can be used to push the chopper to an amazing 50 M/S in forward flight. Like the rotors the fixed engines can be refueled by the Kelaz-45T fuel truck. Newest Version Below! 7. Because of the new little engine bug my helicopters have I decided to take a little break and built something I wanted to do for a long time. Krakenslayer Castle The rest of the pictures are in the spoiler. Use Hyperedit or Vesselmover to place it where you want. First enable unbreakable joints, place it where you want, then you can disable the cheat again. You may put it on an incline but … you need a flat surface! Every foundation part has to touch the ground evenly. Part count: 358. https://kerbalx.com/Azimech/77I--Krakenslayer-Castle
  8. Hello, A few months ago I saw a video of somebody recovering and re flying a first stage in ksp. So I decided to try do it as well. Now that I have a forum account I decided to redo the mission but take pictures along the way. Here it is http://imgur.com/a/bccNE
  9. When stock G LOC was announced, some developer (I'm sorry, can't quite remember who exactly it was - @sarbian may be????) mentioned that it is very easy to mod in Kerbal death caused by over G using stock system. My opinion it would be cool to have mod that obey stock parameters and rules, causing death if G is greater than x times G during G LOC. Opinions, gentlemen?
  10. Greetings, Kerbal-naughts! I propose a challenge for those who seek one, a stock multi-rotor aircraft capable of long distance flights (we'll say ATLEAST 100 km, though if you'd like you can go wherever you want, and back perhaps :0) I myself am not very good at creating propellers from the stock parts, but from the amount of people that play Kerbal Space Program, I'm very sure there's a couple of people out there who would find this an easy challenge, and in that case build it. REQUIREMENTS: + Must be at least 2 rotors, there is no maximum number + Must have the capability to carry cargo ~5 tons minimum + must carry at least 2 Kerbals (why not?) + must be stable in flight ~No wobbling + NO CHEATING (infinite fuel, part offsetting is OK) + must have pics + Impress me. ||||| ways to impress: Limited parts, bring it to another planet, make it small in size, or make it massive and carry a 100 ton payload, Just do something cool Anyways, Have fun! - TheKorbinger
  11. The Last of the Gunfighters, as it was known, the Crusader marked the end of an era for U.S. Fighter aircraft. It was the last fighter to use guns as weapon of choice, serving from 1957 until 1976 in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps as a carrier-based supersonic fighter. The F-8, as it was later designated, served many roles during the Cold War. the RF-8 was a dedicated reconnaissance platform that captured important information during the Cuban Missile Crisis, while in Vietnam, F-8s served as carrier-based fighter-bombers. Now, the gunfighter is back in stock KSP. This model has a fully functioning variable incidence wing, actuated up and down by action groups. The wing can be raised 7 degrees for takeoff and landing, giving the Crusader superb STOL capabilities, plus excellent low and high-speed handling. True to the replica, the F-8 becomes tough to fly with the wing in cruise mode below a certain speed, requiring the wing to be raised for landing approaches. Once in the air, the Crusader is fairly nimble, and can break the speed of sound in level flight. Remarkably, it is also stable under high G-loads (tested up to 15) and at 4x time warp. 12. I'm trying to build a drone missile launcher for kerbal warfare, but without the possibilty to decouple docking ports with stages it's really hard/inconvenient to launch unguided missiles. Has the feature been removed? Did I do something wrong? And mainly, how can I get it to return? BTW, I'm running stock 1.2.2, fresh install
  13. U.S Humvee Light Truck Though quite larger than normal, this light truck can reach a top speed of around 23 m/s, pulling this 8.5 ton mammoth of structural steel along with it. Ground clearance allows it to navigate across any terrain, including water (lets just say steel doesn't float too well ). As with any military vehicle, this one comes with a full 360 degree rotating turret mounted along the roof of the truck. This vehicle can move up to 5 Kerbals seated, or up 7 if you wish to do some thing along the lines of this (No one said using human meat shields was a bad idea). Specs: Max speed: 23 m/s Max hill traverse: < 10 degrees (Too heavy to propel any further) Seats: 5 Seats (7 seats if you wish to do something crazy) Safe Turning: 10 m/s Non-tip over (anything above that will guarantee a flip if you turn too hard) Part Count: 216 (211 for only the truck itself) Both can be controlled with or without Kerbals! Weight: 5.8 t Height: 2.7 m Width: 2.5 m Length: 4.3 m Instructions: Stage the Humvee and let it fall to the ground (preferably with brakes) Clip the camera inside add place them all in the seats Stage again to demount the turret, allowing it to turn (after that DO not stage anymore, the jets are there to lower the Center of Mass). Drive into something, preferably not into the ocean though Kerbals dont like driving underwater. Pictures: DOWNLOAD IT TODAY!
  14. Challenge rules: trying to get the profile of the craft as close as possible to the jet XFA-33 FENRIR using stock parts. The XFA-33 Fenrir (Fenrir in older Ace Combat games) is an original next-generation combat aircraft from the Strangereal universe. It made its first console appearance in Ace Combat Infinity, previously debuting on the handheld Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception and Ace Combat: Joint Assault. The in game version stats: part count: 155 mass :almost 30 freaking tons(29,903) powered by 3 tubo-nuclear-cfg buffed jet engines , has the amazing delta-v of 30692m/s

A new chapter will be uploaded every Thursday (or thereabouts), unless I forget about it.
  16. This is the first real mod I would like to build: something to really take advantage of any and all oceans. I normally spend my KSP time making sci-fi ships and overblown stations or bases and try to harness resources in unconventional ways--and spend more of that time testing things than doing missions with them. I love the concepts of producing fuel from [resources; situations] other than [Landed; Ore] and you'll be seeing the fruits of this knowledge in the mod that I'm helping to develop: Galileo's Planet Pack. But before that mod is finished (at least, it reaches release 1.0), I want to expand on or complete this exact knowledge and develop my own little thing to gift to everyone. I've tried to build boats and in my experience it's bothersome that feature-filled sea vessels or simply any that can go far need to be super-massive or have a support craft deliver fuel to them [such as amphibious crafts taking the Elcano challenge], and I've tried to build things that can refuel themselves in ocean, especially Kerbin's ocean. The Karbonite mod has parts for this but Kerbin itself is very scarce in karbonite and I don't want to hack that and theoretically poison the planet with karbonite. Then again, kerbal oceans might as well overflow with that instead of typical salts. They can get the salt for their non-sweet snacks from some other place. Outline and Progress The method/intention is this: I want to utilize the IntakeLqd and Water resources, add these capacities to all intakes and stock LF tanks, augment air-breathing engines (especially the low-altitude turbofan type) to use IntakeLqd and Electricity, and I would like to have LF, LFO, LH2 options facilitated via Electrolysis in the Convert-O-Trons. I've already taken a few shots at it but I'm not seeing any hint of progress yet. I've produced 5 config files so far but they're little more than scraps with the tweaks I hope for and attempted clones of the Whiplash engine and short Mk2 LF tank, and attempt to add modules to all intake and ISRU parts. The mods that have inspired me are @5thHorseman's MM patch collection (namely the ISRU Ablator patch), @MatterBeam's SimpleConstruction mod (stockifies EL), and @Nertea's Near Future Propulsion: I've lovingly made ships that run on only ArgonGas and with atmo scoops they can refuel while landed--no drills, no worries about landing where the resource is scarce. Goals The purpose of this mod is to provide a stockified or stock-based means to make Kerbin's ....(and yeah, Laythe's oceans!) very useful: to provide a whole new mining experience, and make it easier for boats and amphibious vessels to run much longer--run as long as their batteries are charged, and to refuel while splashed down while keeping the Vanilla rating high: if this mod goes absent, no ships get crippled, no kerbals go MIA.
  17. this challenge is where you land a base on the mun using only stock parts, I've always wondered why you can't build and launch a spacecraft from another planet or moon. the challenge is to launch a base (several launches allowed) to the mun or minmus that has all the basic parts of a rocket and a way to assemble them however you like, then build a rocket on the kerbin moon of your choice, then launch and retrieve it on kerbin. even better, make several rockets and do the same thing. good luck

  21. Find me on KerbalX Hello everyone, here comes a terrible creation which had been sleeping for some time in the VAB and was about to be totally forgotten, the X-26A Eos. The project was born some times ago of the desire to make a small craft inspirited from the U.S. Space Shuttle system but having no more than the Mk1 size for its parts. Named after a Greek Titan and goddess of the Dawn, Eos was in my mind the symbol of a "new" way to build tiny shuttle... and I should have called her Hecate as she gives me so much troubles but the name was already taken. Originally she was conceived to be a super cheap Space Shuttle and easy to access in a new career. For it the boosters were made of Thumper, but they were absolutely incapable to kick her to a good altitude before running out of fuel. 6, 8 even 9 Thumper offset into each other on both sides still were unable to made it... and the low launch cost which was one of the reason supporting the project just explode (it did reminds a true story). So absolutely disappointed I opted for the Kickback and a total remodeling of the craft, changed the vertical stabilizer, placed more fuel inside the Orbiter. This made it more light and performant but still a test flight was needed... The climb is surprisingly smooth, the whole system being just a bit sensitive during the SRB last seconds of operation. Once jettisoned the orbiter and its External Tank recover their good control. The main problem appeared once close to the circularization altitude. The O.M.S imitation is consisting of just two Spark small rocket engines, those are totally underpowered for the mass of the orbiter even to start the maneuver about 2 minutes before the T time. The unique solution being to keep the E.T and start the maneuver with S.S.M.E Thud. For an Apogee of 140 km those are absolutely able to complete it with even some fuel still available in the tank, so I used to shut them down and eject the tank when just a 100 m/s are still needed and complete the maneuver with the O.M.S. At this point around 900/950 m/s of dV are still available. (Four Sepratron will ensure a quick clearance off the fuel tank) Once in orbit at 140 km the target was the traditional space station orbiting at 200 km : The whole docking maneuver is simple with four RCS pods being placed around the CoM. Then I don't know why but the X-26A remained abandoned for almost a year before finally returning to on the surface. Once again I overshot the KSC. The unique solution was to land on the old island airfield. Finally, what was supposed to be a simple system to ensure the transport of four souls for a very low price became a real luxury, costing more than 50 000. But it remains fun to control.
  22. KSC Returns fire after taking heavy damage from an unknown assailant launching from the abandoned airstrip!
  23. The Skyliner SSTO is the latest and greatest in the KCS Badger Works line of spaceplane cargo lifters. This remarkably sleek looking craft can haul four kerbals and up to 36 tonnes to LKO and return to the runway from whence it came, and the best part is that you don't even need to wake up a pilot and nurse him out of his hangover to do it (I'm looking at you Jebediah), thanks to the CH-J3 Fly-by-wire avionics hub. The Skyliner is extremely stable in all flight regimes and maintains aerodynamic stability regardless of how much fuel you have, which is probably a good thing, since all the pilot kerbals are now on strike to protest the loss of their jobs. Warning: do not exceed 36t cargo mass*, warranty void if used as ICBM. Download from KerbalX here. *the RCS system is fully capable of de-orbiting the vessel should you find yourself sans fuel in LKO after delivering a heavy cargo

  25. SWIFTBIRD A useful holiday gift for the average kerbal The Swiftbird was originally built as a plane that flew around the rocket in "The Asteroid Sentinels" as a "news aircraft", but it proved to be an excellent aircraft on its own. The design was inspired partly by the ERJ-145 and flies even faster than it, reaching 300 meters per second (~Mach 0.87)! The Swiftbird lives up to its name, capable of executing high g-force turns. Despite the small fuel load, the Swiftbird has a range of 600 kilometers, enough to safely traverse the ocean that the KSC sits on. If it runs out of fuel, it can easily glide for at least 30 kilometers. Additionally, a round trip between the KSC and the Island Airstrip the aircraft takes 7 minutes (including the time needed to turn around on the airstrip). When a significant portion of the wing was lost during takeoff at the Island airstrip, the craft still managed to safely land back at the runway at the KSC. Be careful of tail strikes though—the plane pitches up pretty quickly when taking off. However the only damage done is usually to the horizontal stabilizer. DOWNLOAD Swiftbird Version 2 The second version of the Swiftbird, with wing mounted engines. Just like the aft-mounted version, it has good speed, maneuverability, and range. (You'll still have to worry about tail strikes, unfortunately) DOWNLOAD More Pictures Thanks for viewing!
