  2. https://photos.app.goo.gl/RU7GV8GyMqkTdtvK8 I've accepted this mission which tells me to put a space telescope into solar orbit somewhat close to Eve's, however, unlike the other 2 missions I have active for putting Satelites around Eve, it's not graphically showing me the orbit. It's "almost" circular, so perhaps it doesn't feel the need to show it, but I would rather have it as a guide if possible, I do have about 4.3k delta v in Kerbin orbit so either way it should be fine (bless nuclear engines xd). Thank you for your attention.
  3. Please implement (virtual) gravitational lensing and allow us to build a solar gravitational lens telescope for imaging exoplanets! So we know what we're getting into before sending any interstellar missions. https://www.space.com/sun-gravity-could-help-observe-exoplanets-in-detail
  4. Not sure if anyone has asked this before, but while viewing images taken of the ISS and Tiangong Space Station via ground based telescopes, I have this interesting question. Would imaging a starship currently in orbit around earth via a ground based telescope be possible? And if so, how bright of a magnitude and how large might it possibly look in an image? I'm also asking this because it seems that the first orbital flight test will probably end up happening before the end of the year and I'm sure there would be some people out there possibly interested in imaging it from orbit during the flight if they can and it's visible. You can view the images I was talking about at the beginning of this post by clicking on the links above. Hoping someone has a good answer to my question!

  7. On a trip down to the south coast, I brought my telescope. It's a beat up old cheap one i got of the internet, which I fixed up at home, a week before. Most nights were cloudy, but Jeb was still enthusiastic. I didn't tell him it was just a hall light he was looking at. When the clouds finally cleared one night, we headed out to set up. Collimation seemed fine, and didn't take long to get a small scope like this ready to use The sky darkened, and we saw lots of stars I saw Mars, some clusters, and a few other things. It's a bit wobbly this old telescope, but I got some good practice finding things in the sky
  8. Hi, i have a contract running since about 8Y (in-game). I should track asteroids endangering Kerbin, but the given orbit is over kerbins orbit, so that the telescope is mapping Duna. The asteroids apeer near the probe on the map, but i'm not receiving any updates about the contract. Should it be like this, and maybe I should let it run for a longer time, or can it be that there is some kind of a bug?
  9. Today, I got a telescope that my neighbor was giving away for $5. It is a TwinStar AstroMark 80mm 16-40x Portable Refractor Telescope, which is normally valued at ~$40. I set it up tonight and looked at Venus, but the image had lots of water spots on it. I took the included lens wipe and wiped off the front lens, but the image did not improve very much. The viewing aperture and a few of the other lenses looked kind of smudgy, but I did not want to try wiping them without knowing more about it. Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning the lenses of a telescope like this? Also, could there be a focusing issue on my part? I guess there could also be damage to the lenses, but I'm hoping that is not the case. I was going to look at the moon to see how well it is resolved, but the moon is not going to be above the tree line where I live until after I go to bed. If you have any recommendations for cheap, entry-level telescope accessories or even replacements in case this one is broken, please share. This is my first telescope, so thank you for any help you can provide.
  10. Are there any working telescope mods that anyone knows of? I know Tarsier used to have one that was OK but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work, or at least the forums post about it seems dated. I'd like to build a Kubble, or James Kebb telescope that actually functions (for asteroids, planets, moons). Even having a ground based one would be cool. Thanks for any help!
  11. Hi. Does anyone knows of a telescope mod that allows us to view planetary surface, from orbit, in variable detail (zoom in, zoom out)? I know that SCANsat allows us to build topographic maps of the surface, but what I would like would be to view as if I was, say, low flying over ground, when on a satellite orbiting the planet. Like a HiRes Spy Camera does in the real world. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi, does anybody know about a mod that adds real space telescopes? I would love to have Fermi, Chandra, Spitzer, Kepler, HST and so on in my install, but I can't seem to find any.
  13. I am looking to buy an nice telescope that wont break my wallet too much, but not one of those cheap ones. Anyone have some advice on where to look, what kind of specs im looking at, all that stuff. Asking all of you cuz we're all bloody rocket scientists edit: Anybody know if there is a "special term" for the telescopes that can connect to your computer and have the image on the screen?
  14. So, the current thread about telescopes has inspired me to give this hobby another try. Now, when I'm new to something i start googling for hours, but as I like this forum and its users I wanna ask a few questions about astronomy: Can someone point me to some beginner guides or books? Something to read to get familiar with this topic? What equipment do I need for starting? What Would be a good beginner equipment, what is absolutely necessary? How is this all being done? You go out on the fileds, set up your equip, and then? Do you spend hours just on one object? Yeah, relly newbish questions... I really got no idea what this thing is like... Regards, lugge
  15. I'd like to find a good solar filter that is not too expensive (<$150), which can be used to view not only transits, but also see features like sunspots and maybe granulation. So far I've found these: $173.51 $145.00 $129 $89.95 (this one seems perfect but is apparently discontinued. ) $89.00 (this one also seems perfect but the big "Pending Delivery" makes me think it would be a while...) Any advice? P.S. I'd like to have it before the May 9 transit, if it's possible. I've now bought a sheet of solar film, and am waiting for it to arrive in the mail. The film arrived this morning, and I've assembled a cover with it. The filter I made with the film works well for viewing sunspots, and cost me less than $50! Yay cardboard!
  16. So I found this nameless ancient telescope in my home several years ago Link to imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/wcuER because apparently the forum imgur album embed doesn't work and I cannot delete it The big knob have this text on top of it: 20X-60X D = 60mm Zoom Focus Hard Coated Optics Japan Code no. 20-20-61 The small knob have this text on top of it: 60x <- ZOOM -> 20x When I try to look at the eyepiece, the image looks really blurry with several black dots on it So how do I use this for, lets say looking at ISS from Earth? And is it possible to attach a webcam and take pictures or even video through it? Or see Moon craters? Or see outer planets?
  17. I remember seeing a mod in Add on releases that added a telescope you had to use to find the celestial bodies in the solar system (except Mun, Kerbin and Kerbol). What was it's name?
