  1. I can only assume this is a bug caused by a mod. Basically what happens is that when I put a vessel in orbit around the sun (regardless of distance) and return to it later, it blows up due to overheating (even if there's radiators on the vessel). Also, going into EVA will instantly kill the kerbal you send out. Both of these can be prevented by turning on "Ignore Max Temperature", but I obviously don't want to have that on all the time. I need some help diagnosing the problem. Extra Info: It doesn't matter what vessel it is, whether it's just a command pod or a probe with 8 radiators around it, the glitch seems to persist regardless of the vessel's design. So far from what I've seen, any other orbit doesn't seem to cause this glitch. Just Kerbol orbits. What I've done so far: Removed SystemHeat, Kopernicus, Galaxies Unbound, KSPIE, and Far Future Tech Verified Integrity of Game Cache Start a new game to see if it affects that one (it does, so my save isn't corrupted) Here's also some screencaps with KerbalEngineer up to help with the diagnosis. One's the temperature when going EVA and the other's when the vessel is idle (for the sake of this, I just placed a Nereid pod with mono engines into orbit and turned on "Ignore Max Temperature") KSP Log My mod list: Atmosphere Autopilot B9PartSwitch Beejee10s Historical Kerbal Suits Better Time Ward Continued Blueshift ClickThroughBlocker Toolbar/ToolbarController CommNet Constellation Community Tech Tree Community Category Kit Community Resource Pack ContractConfigurator Cryogenic Engines Dynamic Battery Storage Easy Vessel Switch Environmental Visual Enhancements Redux Far Future Technologies Feline Utility Rovers Filter Extension Fuel Efficient Pilots Future Technologies Expanded: Frontier Aeronautics Galaxies Unbound (Nova Kirbani, Kormann-16, Kepsilon Kirilani, Cer Turi, and Seirios are the systems I have installed) HideEmptyTechTreeNodes HyperEdit Internal RCS Interstellar Fuel Switch KIS/KAS Kerbal Reusability Expansion Planetary Base Systems TAC Life Support Kerbal Engineer Kerbalized Suits Knes Kopernicus KSP Interstellar Extended KSP Recall Restock/Restock Plus Tweakscale MechJeb Mk1 Cabin Hatch All "Near Future" Mods Patch Manager Mk2/Mk3 Expansion Mk-33 SCANSat Scatterer SpaceDust SystemHeat Waterfall Stockalike Station Parts Expansion Redux Surface Lights Tarsier Space Tech Universal Storage 2 Vessel Mover ZeroMiniAVC

  3. Hello everyone, I'm currently working at my first mod, and have not found any information on this: How would I go about finding the current heat flow through a part? Also, am I able to change the parameters of other modules of the part on the fly? Many thanks in advance
  4. Parts would have minimum temperatures, and some would passively radiate heat. When minimum temperatures are reached, the parts wouldn't explode or anything. They would merely stop functioning. However, based on a setting in the difficulty options, if a command module or spacesuit reached minimum temperatures, the kerbals could be at risk of freezing to death. Different kerbals would have different time limits for staying below minimum temperature, basically like gee tolerance. Something else that should be added would be parts specifically meant for heating the spacecraft. Drills, converters, fuel cells, RTGs and active engines would passively generate heat. Liquid fuel tanks and idle liquid fuel engines would have an incredibly low minimum temperature. Landing legs and airbrakes, as well as xenon tanks and ion engines would have a fairly low minimum temperature. Wings (whose aerodynamics would simply not work quite right when too cold), command modules and passenger modules would have a medium minimum temperature. Probes, batteries, solar cells and reaction wheels would have a high minimum temperatures. Finally, surface temperatures. Planets would all have ground temperatures, including the ones without atmospheres. However, part temperatures would be affected by the ground much more slowly than by the atmosphere. Therefore, you could probably last on Eeloo or Minmus for days without a heating system. You wouldn't have to worry too much about Jool's moons, as they are heated by tidal forces. With Duna you would probably want a heating system, seeing as it has an atmosphere. Also, unlike atmospheric temperature, surface temperature would change depending on whether it was day or night.
  5. KSP was always a demanding game for my CPU. But with KSP 1.1 it even got worse. Especially in the VAB/SPH. What bothers me the most is, that my CPU temperature (i7 2600) is now at up to 90-97 °C which is near the limit of Tj of 98°C. It has a total CPU load of 40-50%. The temperature on the motherboard maxes out at about 43 °C during play. I don't know where the sensor of the CPU is located. But this temperature feels worrysome to me. Even if the CPU is not yet throttling back to prevent thermal overstess. When in flight, the temperature decreases to about 80°C, which is also odd, consdering that in the VAB there are no physics, while in play mode there are. What I tried was to lower the graphic settings from maximum to minimum. But it didn't make any difference. It's apparently not the graphics that cause that. I also deactivated the VAB ground crew. No effect. Recently I added a second side fan directly over my CPUs downblower and made my fan settings much more agressive than I used to have it. But it only had little effect. And I don't want to mount some other CPU cooler, as my PC is 4,5 years old now and I plan to build a new gaming PC until spring 2017 anyway. I don't want to spend more money on upgrades. But until then, I'm stuck here. And summer is coming... Apart from buying a better CPU cooler, is there anything I can do software-wise to reduce my CPU temperature in KSP, especially in the VAB?
