  1. United Kerbal Space Agency Presents: The Khonsu Program Kerbalkind's First Journeys To The Mun Inspired By: The Apollo Program Introduction: Why? Basically because I want to add more lore to my crafts, and I think this is the best way to do it. I will mainly be posting crewed Mun missions, crewed LKO missions, and space station stuff. Mission uploads will be sporadic (I'll try my best, I have lots of other stuff to do) Craft Files: Right Here (Might take a while for the craft files to be uploaded, I don't like making infographics ) Thanks: Thanks to @keanukeno21 for this piece of artwork, used in my UKSA flag. Thanks to @Autochrome for their Hyperion Program, and @AmateurAstronaut1969 for their Space Station Freedom and Artemis Program for inspiring me to make this. Thanks to N9 Gaming for inspiring lots of my crafts And finally thanks to squad for this awesome game. Mod List: As of June 4 2022 Missions: Note 1: Feedback is welcome as long as it is helpful Edit 1: Green completed missions now linked under missions
  2. Here is mine: a new female Kerbal, mechanic (or engineer) named Gladys Kerman. The reason? Gladys Ingle! Caution: early 20 century background music! "Whoa, dear! Don't hit the moon! No, dear . . . Not yet, but soon!"
  3. The KSP forum moderator's team presents the Threads of the Month July 2022 Edition All I can say about June, from my own experience in that horrid month, is thank goodness it's over! I am hoping your June was better than mine. So far, the first day of July has been more relaxed, more calm, and more enjoyable than the first day of June was. This month's threads of the month is on time, but we didn't have as many nominations as we've had in the past. For the month of July, I'm going to ask you a favor - if you see an interesting thread - NOMINATE IT! And the instructions on how to nominate a thread are located at the bottom of this post. On another topic, I wanted to draw your attention to a new section of our forum. It was created by our community manager, @Ghostii_Space and is absolutely outstanding! The new section of the forum is called The Player Spotlight and began in May of this year. @Ghostii_Space introduced this new part of the forum in the first entry: Here's the link if you're interested in checking out the available editions of the Player Spotlight: https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/forum/115-player-spotlight/ For those out there who like the nerdy parts of the TOTM: To continue a thing I started in May (2021) about the forum and new members as a way to answer the fears some folks had about the forum dying. There were 304 new forum accounts created in June (a decrease of 88 from April). Of those, we have 20 new forum members (defined as no longer having their comments queued) within the community. This means that roughly 6.58% of the new user accounts are actively participating on the forum (that is an decrease of 0.56% in the conversion). If you're interested in seeing the new members of our forum, you can click here! Now, without further delay, I present to you the threads of the month for June: General community threads of the month: This category features a thread that adds to the community and doesn't fit in the game support/game mod categories. This month, there was a thread that did get the attention of several of you in our forum community. The thread, started by @Lisias, offers a simple question - who would you like to see added to the core team of characters in Kerbal Space Program 2? If you had the ability to add your favorite contributor to rocketry, the space program of any nation, or even space exploration enthusiast, to KSP2, who would you add? If you have a suggestion, then this is a thread for you: Game Support/Game Mod of the Month: This category features either help with the game (stock or modded), or mods that add quality-of-life gameplay improvements to Kerbal Space Program. This month, there were no threads nominated for this category. Forum Member Created Challenges and Missions: For the past few years, we have seen a lot of really good missions and challenges threads created that expand our fun with the game and presses our skills, creativity, and sometimes, luck, beyond what we get accustomed to. Let's face it, we all have our go-to design basics, our go-to Kermen, and even our go-to vehicles we like to use. So sometimes a good challenge can cause us to think of another way to achieve our goals. One of the fun things is when we have forum member submitted challenges that really cause us to rethink how we play Kerbal Space Program or even bring older players back into the game with the desire to immerse themselves into the endless hours of frustration and enjoyment as in those early days of when the game was new. And from the way the forum community responded to this challenge (and mod) posted by @Rocket Factory Augsburg, this thread may be just the one you're looking for. The challenge is described as: If this challenge description sounds interesting to you, you can find it, the leader board, and the signature badge that's available here: It doesn't matter if you're a bottle rocket engineer or a more seasoned KSP player, this challenge might be something that you might want to check out. Why not give it a try? Fan-fiction, Mission Reports, and Kerbal Space Program-inspired Creative Thread of the Month: This category features a thread (or threads) which while not directly Kerbal Space Program related, may be a creative work, fan-fiction, or other presentation which is related to the game. I will admit, this is one of my favorite parts of the forum - seeing what our community does with this great game. Kerbal Space Program is probably one of the few games where it can be as flexible as the player's imagination. Sure, some of us use it to explore the strange worlds (and by this time, unless you're using mods, we cannot call them "strange new worlds" ). But the game is so much more than just exploring planets - some of our forum members reenact various space programs, recreate historical/vintage aircraft, build great seaworthy (or as best as one can in KSP) vessels, and much more. In this mission report by @ThE_aMaZInG_pOTatO, a Kerbalized recreation of the Apollo program is presented. This thread acts as a catalog of threads which will share craft, mission ideas, and future reports of @ThE_aMaZInG_pOTatO's space program. It's introduced as: If you are looking for inspiration in how you can use a real-life space program as a model for your KSP journey, then why not visit this thread? Please note: The thread is image heavy and may cause some issues if you are attempting to view it over a slower Internet connection. Video-based Fan-fiction, Mission Reports, and Kerbal Space Program-inspired Creative Thread of the Month: This category features a video or other form of cinematography of a Kerbal mission report using in-game video recorded game play. This month, there were no threads nominated for this category. Honorable mentions: Each month we get so many good nominations to choose from. Sometimes it's a challenge to choose which threads are going to receive the honor of being the Thread of the Month. But because not every thread nominated each month can be selected, there are always those that become honorable mentions. The honorable mentions for this month are: Jebediah Space Program by @OJT KSP2 Interactive Timeline by @DrCHIVES What did you do in KSP today? by @Xeldrak The honorable mentions for this month may not have made the Thread of The Month, but if you think they might be worthy of another opportunity, please renominate it! Congratulations to all the winners of the Thread of the Month! We'd like to thank @Zozaf Kerman, @Autochrome, @18Watt, @Chemp, and the members of the moderation team and staff who nominated this month's contenders. Thank you so much for helping us identify noteworthy threads for this month. We'd appreciate your continued help in the future. And this month, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the community manager, @Ghostii_Space, and to the moderator-in-chief, @Vanamonde for supporting me in my efforts in contributing to the community. And especially for their trust in allowing me to be the one who volunteers to take on the responsibility of the Thread of the Month. It's an honor to be able to give back to the KSP community in such a manner! Thank you. TO NOMINATE A THREAD FOR CONSIDERATION: If you find a thread you feel should be considered for next month's thread of the month, then use the "report comment" feature (the three dots on the upper right corner of the comment box) to report the comment. Please put in the text field of the report post "Nomination for thread of the month" and we will do the rest! You can always nominate more than one thread, too. In case you missed last month's threads of the month, you can click here.
  4. Hello and welcome to the official KSP challenge of the German rocket start-up Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA). First of all: To complete this challenge you will need the RFA ONE -Debris Removal Mod. The Mod is available on SpaceDock. In addition to the normal download link the mod is also on CKAN and users will be able to access it. For Details on Installation please consider the ReadMe attached with the Mod or the Installation Guide on SpaceDock. The parts fit together to built the RFA ONE rocket but are flexible and generic enough to be used in many creative ways, just like vanilla KSP parts. However if you build the RFA ONE yourself, you will not have the Lettering on the side of the rocket. The Mod adds the parts you need to build your own RFA ONE, the RFA ONE rocket as a whole as well as the scenario that you need to complete this challenge. The challenge has to be completed just using the RFA ONE Mod. Thanks to a member of the KSP Community for help with the development. Story: The communication satellite C-GS-014 was launched in to LKO just a couple of weeks ago. However, an error with the satellites solar array has left it stranded in a highly elliptical 14,500 x 250 km orbit with a 10° inclination around Kerbal. In order to avoid space junk and prevent contributing to the Kessler Syndrome, RFA wants to use the opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities. They plan use their orbital stage, which is typically used for precise orbit insertion, to pick up the dead satellite and safely de-orbit it above the ocean. You are mission director and have been instructed to launch the RFA ONE, fly to the satellite and capture it with the grapple arm. Once you have successfully docked with the satellite, your task will be to safely de-orbit it above the ocean and have it burn up in the atmosphere of Kerbal. On RFA: Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) is a German start-up which develops its own launcher, called the “RFA ONE”, to put up to 1.300kg into LEO. RFA aims to drastically reduce launch costs of its rocket to enable innovative business ideas in space to protect and understand our Earth. RFA uses as many components-off-the-shelf as possible, mass-produces its stainless-steel tanks, and uses its highly efficient Helix engine with staged combustion. Its orbital stage for precise in orbit delivery of satellites can, after successful deployment of up to 100 satellites, extend the lifetime of old satellites through maintenance and repair or safely de-orbit dead satellites, therefore helping to reduce space junk. Rules and Goals: 1. RFA ONE Mod has to be used in order to complete the challenge 2. No additional mods, other than visual, may be used 3. Screenshots are required for eligibility of completion 4. The satellite has to burn up in the atmosphere, any debris remaining has to fall into the ocean. 5. RFA ONE orbital stage has to stay in orbit 6. Leaderboard will be sorted after least amount of fuel consumed Screenshots of the following events are to be included: - Screenshot of the RFA Launch - RFA ONE orbital stage attached to the satellite - Dead satellite burning up in the atmosphere of Kerbal above the ocean - RFA ONE orbital stage in orbit around Kerbal with remaining fuel after the mission Badge: Those, who have completed this challenge are eligible to wear this badge. Leaderboard: The Leaderboard will be defined by the least amount of fuel used to safely de-orbit the satellite. 1. @Kroko6 (536m/s dv left) 2. @AtaKerem (473m/s dv left) 3. @Foxworthgames (453m/s dv left) 4. @janfe2o3 (133m/s dv left)
