  1. License: CC-BY-NC-SA, see license.txt in folder NeistAir UPDATE P9.0 is finally brought out! Check SpaceDock link for further info + download Now B9PartSwitch is a dependency (but also bundled in the mod zip!) today, i took my time, and updated some stuff on the NeistAir Mod, made by neistridlar, and here we are - i am uploading my first reupdated version. Original NeistAir Thread: Changelogs: All Parts in the mod currently: DOWNLOAD: SPACEDOCK: https://spacedock.info/mod/3034/NeistAir Reupdated
  2. This knowledge base is open to contribution/suggestion This thread is a knowledge repository of everything that come out about and at the time of For Science! update. Many informations are scattered across posts, sneakpeek, discord messages, YouTube videos, etc... This is very confusing for people that just come around infrequently. For better understanding, I invite you to go check everything said in KSP2 Announcement, KSP2 Dev Updates, KERB and and Youtube's Dev Chat For Science! update "For Science!" is the next update (0.2) of Kerbal Space Program 2 and the first milestone update of the published roadmap. It will be released the 19th December 2023 and will features science gathering and tech tree progression. A lot of bugs are also indeed fixed for the release. Exploration Mode It is the Science game mode equivalent from KSP 1. No Vessel coins, only science points to gather and spend in the R&D building to acquire new technologies. Future milestones update will allow for colonies settlement, ressource gathering and utilization. Game save are therefore meant to be compatible with future updates. Science parts and gathering. There are 9 science parts for For Science! update. Most of them are situational and will require you to be in a specific state to work. There is the magnetometer, an atmospheric survey device, an underwater chamber, a "lab" with a greenhouse, two goo-based device, a robotic arm, a science jr XS bay and a cute camera. Science gathering is very different from Kerbal Space Program 1. During "Science and Tech Tree - KSP 2 Dev Chats", we learned that the science experiments are split between Samples and Data. Data can be transmitted, while samples have to be returned to the KSC (we don't know if colonies will be able to give science from samples). Experiments now have Data Size, and a duration. Even if not said, this approach is heavily similar to the Kerbalism KSP 1 mod. We don't know if the duration of the experiment is based on the animation, or if science parts will take longer to collect the science points. Biomes Biomes are making their way back into the game as a way to create distinct zone of interest, in which you can find science point or simply chill about. Mission Control The Mission control give you missions with science rewards. Not a lot have been discussed about it, but we believe missions are meant to push you further and further into Kerbol exploration. R&D & Tech Tree Research & Development building will permit you to spend your science points in acquiring new technologies. Exactly like KSP 1, however the Tech Tree is very different. As explained by Tom "FRRRIIIDDDAAAAAYYY" Vinita, the goal of the tech tree has been to drive newcomers and average players to discover new gameplay facets through technologies. A tiering system has been opted. Each tier has its own supposed destination target, and we can safely assume that these destinations have a balanced science reward for people to progress through the Tech Tree. There is only 4 tiers by now but the last dev chat let us suppose there will be tier 5 & 6 in the future (certainly for interstellar travel, as tier 4 supposed target is Eeloo, the last planet of Kerbol) Here's are high resolution screenshots of the tech tree: Anomalies/Discoverables These are what we called "easter eggs" on KSP 1. There are around 20 in-game (as of 0.1.5) and a dozen will be added. These locations will give you specific science points Colonies Colonies is the next milestone update and should come up relatively quickly (less than 10 months), following Nate's statement in Matt's interview at Space creator day. Colonies can be constructed after unlocking the corresponding technology. It'll be located at Tier 4. Due to the different variants of colonies we've seen in screenshots, tom vinita's quote: "we have plans for Tier 6", the knowledge that colonies will have more advanced parts unlockable over time, and following some game datamining, many suppose that colonies size and capabilities will be split into different technologies, in different tiers. Nothing is confirmed tho. A supposed early/mid tier 4 colony: A supposed Tier 5/6 colony: Additional informations This section is a collection of features or informations that are not major. Terrain Rendering improvements According to Dakota (Community Manager) there has been some new terrain rendering improvements: Buoyancy and Boat Dock We should expect better buoyancy in For Science! release. And a new boat dock have been added to the KSC Re-entry with Charring effects Already spoked about in a Dev Chat and in FS! announcement, Re-entry is coming in KSP 2. Moreover, heat shield now have charring effects, you'll see your heat shield becoming darker and darker, the longer you are burning in the atmosphere. We don't know if the charring shader is based on the amount of ablator. Tier leveling Tier leveling is the proposed idea of obtaining gain of performance/efficiency on certain parts if you unlock a tech tier. Official response from the team: Difficulty Settings You'll be able to choose in the difficulty settings: - The starting science points (0 by default) - Science Rewards percentage - Mission rewards percentage Wobbly rocket & Bugs fixes Announced during the Space Creator Day, For Science! will implement an autostrut-like short-term mitigation to the wobbly rockets issues. Please note that this is a short-term mitigation and is likely to be deleted in favor of a long-term solution over the course of the Interstellar release (as the actual solution will need improvements in order for Interstellar size vehicle to be fully simulated). You can learn more about autostrut in KSP2 and other bug fixes in the latest KERB:
  3. I doubt it is 10 min before the planned update release. But is it shipped a week before the update? In other words: How much time between the compilation of the game and shipping it to the public ? I hope devs could give an answer but anyone sharing its thoughts is appreciated
  4. Around a month ago, it was stated that Science would be released in December. When, was unknown. Today I am writing this because we are 5 days away from December and in need of an actual release date. It seems that the update will be delayed until January if we dont get an update. Please update us on this.
  5. I did not really see or hear anything about a KerbNet mechanism which would allow real-time and on-rails scanning of CB surfaces. Also is there any information about telescopes and if the Exploration mode will start with undiscovered celestial bodies in the Kerbol system? Nothing about the buoyancy system? Do we have any clarification if probe exploration before manned has been set as a priority? What else did you expect to be included in the For Science! update and was not announced or mentioned?
  6. I bought KSP 2 in the first couple of minutes after it launched in EA. I had a fair amount of fun with it as well as a couple of headaches, which is understandable during early access period. However, just as a lot of other players, I have a feeling that this is a bit of Too-Early-Access Release considering the amount of problems troubling the game right now (as of 28.02.2023). There has been a lot of complaints over the state of the game, some more fair than others. Combined with a very high price tag for EA (240 PLN ~ $54 !!! here in Poland) it doesn't surprise that a very low number of copies have been sold during the first days. It does raise some sad concerns whether the game's development will continue. In my opinion, the first update will be the most crucial step towards either forging KSP 2 into an ultimate-space-simulator or... let's stay positive for now. I believe that, provided the update fixes at least 1/3 of the current problems, the game will attract more KSP 1 veterans, and with following updates adding newer features even some new players. Fingers crossed for the first update!
  7. Hi! It's Kerman Von Kerman here, brother of Wehrner Von Kerman (which has disappeared since the ksp2 release (I'm looking at you, P.A.I.G.E.)) I've been lurking here for quite a while, but have never thought about making a post until now. I am about to expose the whole lot of lore that lies behind ksp 1 and especially ksp2. Are you ready? THE FEATURE EPISODES First of all, let's begin with the feature episodes. They contain crucial information about kerbal history and lore. At the end of each episode, we see different parts of a montage where a rocket goes to the Mun (in ksp 1 obviously) and ultimately crashes on a Mun arch. This results in the ksp 1 update 1.12.5 where they "Added something... on the Mun". That something is a partially broken arch which has something that seems like a stargate coming out from the arch itself. Many have theorized it is a stargate. And they were right! When ksp 2 was released, they removed completely the debris, thus making the whole arch visible. I'm not going to speculate on it, if you want to know more jut go check one of the many threads present out there that speculate on it. (pls read them so u can understand what comes next) The only important thing to know is that the Kerbolar system is depicted on the Mun arch and that it is indeed a stargate. THE ARECIBO (or karecibo) MESSAGE Now, at the end of some feature episodes, there was a part called "something more?" in which not only did we see the montage of the aforementioned lander, but we also heard some weird noises, that can be converted into a kerbal version of the arecibo message. Here we see a solar system chart, a ship, the kraken destroying the ship, some kind of dots, and then another solar system with the kerbals (right) being greeted by squid-like aliens (left). OR AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT YOU THOUGHT!! Here is the actual explanation of the message, my dear konspirators! 1. We see the chart of the Kerbolar system (the bigger dot being jool) and a line coming from the third planet: KERBIN 2. A rocket, coming from Kerbin. 3. THE ALMIGHTY KRAKEN, DESTROYER OF WORLDS, PRINCE OF THE BOTTOMLESS PIT The Kraken 4. Now, this is where things get tricky. People thought it was either the ship exploding and being destroyed by the kraken, or the ship doing a staging and continuing his interstellar travel. The actual explanation (i'll explain more in depth later) is that the ship is travelling through a stargate (just like the one on the moon) guarded by the kraken. 5. No one guessed this one. The dots are in fact there to measure the distance travelled. For example, the Kerbolar system is twelve dots long. The distance between the stargate and the other system is of 21 dots, or 1,75 times the diameter of Kerbol, which is quite a lot. 6. The ship arrives at the other system (binary system? Debdeb?) and the kerbals are greeted by kraken-human hybrid creatures. THE EVIDENCE But do I have proof? Or am I a speculator just like the others? I HAVE PROOF. Here it comes Ksp 2 players have found some strange structures spawning randomly instead of their ships due to bugs of some kind. Modders immediately checked the game files and found lots of interesting stuff (check out #ksp2-modding in the intercept games discord if you want to know more, there's lots of good stuff. I myself am now making a ksp 2 animation using colony parts taken from the game files (also the crucible engine is gorgeous btw)). They found: ALIEN STATUES: But they have also found the kraken. Nope. It's not a joke of some kind. There's literally a colossal statue of the kraken in the game files. but... That's not the only thing out there. See, in the game files there are TWO kraken statues. One of them has been fused with the Mun's stargate. This proves everything. (also yes that little white dot on the ramp in the first image is a kerbal for scale. This proves that there is some kind of alien tech in game. Stargates? Probably. A bit disappointing for me, as having a way to teleport from one system to another seems a bit too overpowered. However, this has not yet been implemented in game and I trust the devs know what to do. Also the ksp lore says: "Bop is a small moon in the vicinity of Jool. In Kerbal mythology, Bop is believed to be the home of the Kraken, a mischievous creature said to play with the ships of hapless explorers, by spinning them out of control until torn asunder, then casting them into oblivion." So i searched Bop, but could not find the aforementioned megastructure/stargate/kraken thing. However, my ships suck and it's probable that if it's there, i missed it. If you don't know what to do in ksp2, why not go and take a look? I'd be very grateful. FINAL NOTES Do you have thoughts? I'd be glad to hear them. Other ideas for even more speculation? Please tell! More images of these structures? PLEASE SEND I BEG YOU!!! (i'll add them to the post obviously) Thanks for reading, -KERMAN FON KERMAN - Leader of the Kerbin Konspiration Society
  8. Hello everyone! Gear up Kerbonauts, engineers are required for some in situ reassembling! Stack up your inventory with parts and tools in order to prepare for any contingencies. With a reimagining of the game’s inventory system and the introduction of a new EVA construction mode, KSP is here with new content for everyone! Kerbal Space Program 1.11: Some Reassembly Required is the game’s latest major free update and with it, we’re adding some significant and game changing elements that give players added flexibility and a more immersive KSP experience. Pack an inventory for your missions and modify your crafts or even assemble a new vehicle on the spot with the help of your engineers, or bring an EVA Science Experiment Kit and have your Kerbals undertake fun animated experiments. In addition to some new parts, visual enhancements, and some bug-fixing, Some Reassembly Required continues to enrich the KSP experience. Let’s go through some of the update’s highlights below: EVA Construction Mode This mode gives your engineers tools similar to what you find in the VAB/SPH to manipulate parts in their inventory or within their range while on EVA in any location. Need to make some adjustments to your Vallerian SSTO, or build an improvised Munar rover in situ? Now you can! Inventory System Changes This update expands upon the inventory system and gives it deeper meaning and functionality! These changes include the option to carry and stack various parts in your craft’s inventory and adds to the ability of Kerbals to carry an inventory of their own. All while making it easier to get access to and manage all of the inventories on a craft. Just remember to think wisely on what you want to bring with you on a mission… New Lights and RCSs Some Reassembly Required adds new lights parts to the game, including some smaller, physics-less lights as well as a couple of deployable lights that work without the need for an attached craft or EC power source. And not only that, two new smaller Reaction Control Systems are being added to the part repertoire! These smaller RCS are perfect to make your probes, drones or smaller crafts more mobile and versatile. Joolian Moons’ Visual Improvements With this update, we will continue with the overhauling of the rest of the Joolian satellite system with Bop, Vall and Tylo. These moons have been popular destinations for intrepid space explorers and now they will look better than ever before, with high-quality texture and graphic shaders. And more! As with every release this thread will be used to bundle all general discussion about the new version so that the forums can continue to actively host threads on other topics as well. CLICK HERE for the official release announcement for Kerbal Space Program 1.12: On Final Approach. Happy launchings! About the Ground Anchor: The Ground Anchor will be a brand new element in KSP, that when paired with EVA construction, will give players the ability to anchor their vessels to the ground or create a solid foundation for bases. Unfortunately we encountered a late bug for this feature, so it will not be included as part of the 1.12 update. We believe we have a fix for it, but it was too late and too risky to do at the last minute. As a result, this feature will be included with the 12.1 patch, so stay tuned.
  11. 1.12.2 should have the ground anchors and lots of bugfixes so when will it happen. I want the ground anchors (And fixed bugs) so yea. When's it planned moderators? (Sorry I wrote this post poorly I just lazy to write correct today.)
  12. So, I've actually had this game for 7 years, and still don't know how to update reliably without creating 2 different installs then having to move the saves folders and whatnot over into the new KSP version. A few times, I downloaded not another copy of KSP, but something else that updated my existing install to the new version. Where can I get that something else? Thanks
  13. Hello everyone! Today we wear our party helmets to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first publicly released version of Kerbal Space Program, as well as the launch of our most ambitious free update ever! Kerbal Space Program 1.12: On Final Approach is the last major update of what became one of the most influential space flight simulators ever, but it also marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Kerbal universe. Looking forward to the future, but proud of what KSP has achieved, we want to give players our most sincere thanks. The support you’ve given us throughout all these years has helped to excite and inspire us to bring you the ultimate KSP experience before KSP2 hits the shelves next year. Kerbal Space Program 1.12: On Final Approach is packed with a great deal of content including a brand new ‘Slim’ suit inspired by the feats of the private aerospace sector industry, on-demand disconnecting struts, and rotating docking port collars, just to name a few. This update also includes many new requested features & quality of life additions to improve the user experience of KSP, such as a huge revamp to craft and game save loading menu-system, a large amount of wheel and landing leg improvements, and much more! Rejoice and explore the Kerbal universe once more... you might even encounter some of the new easter eggs and unlockable launch sites scattered around the solar system. Are you ready? Let’s go through some of the update’s highlights below: Maneuver Creator App The Maneuver Creator app is an incredibly useful tool that enhances the accuracy of your space maneuvers by allowing you to quickly generate transfers to other celestial bodies, see upcoming transfer windows and get a good understanding of where you’re going and how much deltaV it will take to get there. Alarm Clock App Use the Alarm Clock app to set alarms for maneuvers, manual time alarms and alarms for various orbital positions, which will certainly come in handy for those long trips that require several burns to complete. New Solar Panels This update also includes 4 brand new photovoltaic panels, including enhanced versions of the SP and OX-4 series, but also two large circular retractable solar panels with very cool deployment methods. 10th Anniversary Fireworks! Celebrate KSP’s 10th anniversary with these highly configurable firework launchers to attach to your vehicles. 14. I understand another company ports the game but cant you tell us anything about next updates? Its been a while now. Can you ask them for us?
  15. If I understand what this part of the forum is about, one thing that would be REALLY helpful is being able to type the name of a craft into a seachbar, and KSP showing you the craft with that name. That would be very helpful, since I make a lot of stuff (Specifically cranes), and I can (almost) always remember the name of the crane, but it takes me a while to find it. Being able to just search for a specific thing, instead of having to scroll and search for it, would make playing KSP a lot easier. Well, maybe not a LOT, but it would be nice anyway.
  16. Hello Kerbonauts! A new update for Kerbal Space Program Enhanced Edition is live! This update includes a number of quality-of-life-features , including the ability to seamlessly switch between the SPH and the VAB without leaving the editor, plus a Maneuver Widget for fine tuning maneuvers during interplanetary flights. 17. When will 1.11 come to consoles. I’m just curious.
  18. Hi there! In the past couple weeks I started noticing that the KER DeltaV and Parts indicators were not working properly. When constructing a new ship or editing an existing one, the indicators will sometimes work, but most of the times will appear empty or with incorrect values. For example the Vessel indicator would show that my ship has 1 part when it has actually 4, or the DeltaV indicator will appear completely blank like if the ship does not have a engine or fuel. On this example you can see I created a simple ship an even thou the stock indicators are showing right values, KER is not being updated, is like it got stock when I added the first part. NOW, if I quickly switch the editor to to hangar and go back to rocket mode, KER will show the right values, but just for a couple minutes, then it will get stuck again and will not update the values anymore. This is how the same ship looks after I switched the editor to hangar an back to rocket mode: This is what I tried so far: 1. I am running KPS on Steam, I completely deleted it and reinstalled it. 2. I deleted KER from GameData and downloaded the last version 3. I deleted all saves an starting a new career mode. 4. Googled a lot about this and nobody is (apparently) experiencing the same issue. Any idea what could be the problem? Like I said, a couple weeks ago worked just fine, the issue started even before I updated to KSP 1.11 so I guess this is not a KER/KSP versions incompatibility. Please help
  19. And more! 22. Hello everyone! The European Space Agency (ESA) and Kerbal Space Program have come together to bring you brand new content, including the ESA space-suit texture, new parts and variants, and two of their most iconic and groundbreaking missions into the game. Gear up, fuel up and prepare to share horizons with ESA and KSP! Kerbal Space Program 1.10: Shared Horizons is the game’s latest major update aimed to continue with our efforts to enrich the KSP experience. Build a kerbalized version of the renowned and powerful Ariane 5 heavy launch vehicle, visit comets and push the limits of space exploration with a host of new additions to the game that not only will give you more things to do, but also make the game look and perform better with a bunch of bug fixes and quality of life improvements. Let’s go through some of the update’s highlights below: ESA Missions Thanks to our collaboration with ESA, put yourself to the test and carry out KSP versions of the historic BepiColombo and Rosetta missions! Drop a lander module on the surface of a comet and visit the innermost planet of the solar system to study its magnetosphere and surface characteristics, all in the name of science. Best of all, the Making History and Breaking Ground expansions are not required to play these missions! Comets In order to make the Rosetta mission possible, comets now roam the Kerbal Solar System. With beautiful tails and larger dimensions than regular asteroids, comets appear in all game modes and you can take on new career mode contracts to detect and visit them. Be vigilant, because you might even see one that is passing through from interstellar space! New Parts and Variants Kerbal Space Program 1.10: Shared Horizons includes several new parts and variants to match ESA’s style! Decorate your vehicles with a variety of flag parts that can be attached to your liking, take the brand new Magnetometer Boom along with the MTO and MPO to carry out scientific experiments on Moho or beyond, or capture asteroids and comets with the Advanced Grabbing Unit Jr., a smaller and versatile version of the “Klaw”. Additionally, there are also new variants of some tanks, SRBs, the “Poodle” Liquid Fuel Engine, and decouplers; plus, fairings have not only new variants, but some updated functionality as well. Jool and Laythe Visual Improvements The legendary green gas giant and it’s innermost satellite have new high-quality texture maps & graphic shaders, and now look sharper and more realistic than ever! Find a nice beach on Laythe and enjoy the view of Jool’s newly animated clouds. Beautiful! And more! 23. Oops I accidentally posted this.... here's the link to the official thread: Jool's finally getting that new texture that was shown to us on April Fools!
  24. Hello everyone! Kerbalkind has been exploring the vastness of the Kerbolar System for many years: they’ve explored the surfaces of planets and moons, encountered beautiful landscapes, interesting surface features, performed experiments, and even captured asteroids, all with ingenuity… and many explosions. However, sometimes it’s good to look back and appreciate the wonders of your own home-planet and realize that There’s No Place Like Home! Kerbal Space Program 1.9: There’s No Place Like Home draws its name from the substantial graphical overhaul we’ve given to Kerbin with improved textures and shaders, but that’s far from the only thing you’ll find in this update. Mainly focusing on performance improvements and bug fixes, 1.9 also includes some neat part revamps, a brand new drain valve, and several additions drawn directly from your feedback. Additionally, we’re including some cool stock crafts for the expansions, and advanced control improvements to the blades in the Breaking Ground Expansion. Let’s go through some of the update’s highlights below: Visual Revamps for Moho Dres and Kerbin Kerbin, Moho and Dres have received major visual improvements, with detailed high-quality texture maps. Since there’s no place like home, Kerbin also includes an Ultra Quality shader option for exceptionally sharp visuals. All in all, the Celestial Bodies in the Kerbolar System are looking better than ever. Drain Valve Kerbal Space Program 1.9: There’s No Place Like Home features the FTE-1 Drain Valve. A brand new part that, as the name suggests, is a release valve for parts with drainable resources, such as monopropellant, ore, liquid fuel, oxidizer or xenon. The Drain Valve also allows you to set the drainage over a specific amount of time. Part Revamps The "Thumper" Solid Fuel Booster, "Mainsail" and “Skipper" Liquid Fuel Engines have been given a new look. New geometry, textures and emissive maps make these parts look sharp and realistic. On top of that, the "Mainsail" and “Skipper" are getting a couple of sleek variants for you to choose from. Quality of Life Features Drawing from our players’ feedback, Kerbal Space Program 1.9: There’s No Place Like Home is packed with some useful quality of life features like an adjustment to the time warp system that removes restrictions on warping at certain altitudes; a new cheat menu option that allows you to place your craft above the surface of any celestial body; a search box for the R&D Tech Tree; and a new Screenshot Mode for paused shots, and several others! Blade improvements Breaking Ground players can now enjoy cyclic & collective deflection controls to the blade parts. This will help you build and pilot helicopters and other rotorcraft realistically. Check out this devblog to learn more about it. And more!
