  1. Ok so two Videos in the style of Casey Neistat on the Youtubes Let me know your thoughts I am genuinely curious
  2. In a feat of Kerbal engineering, the boys at the SPH have devised a way to make fully stock hinges and pivots! Using this breakthrough, the technology has been incorporated into the design of a new SSTO to give it VTOL capabilities, as well as enough fuel to go to Laythe and back without refueling or need for mining! In order to rotate the wings, the tilt-wing section un-docks to become a separate craft that can move independently of the main ship. It's held in place by two rings of cubic octagonal struts around some of those Oscar-B fuel tanks as a sort of axle. Torque wheels are used to rotate the wing and lock it into position using the 'radial out' marker on the navball. Finally, 4 small docking ports lock the section back in place- rejoining it with the rest of the craft fairly securely in a quadruple seal! As a lot of you have found out, in order to get the craft working as intended the nuclear and RAPIER engines had to be modified by altering their config files. Here's the video I made that I have had in the works for a while now. A lot of time and effort went into making this but I am really happy with it so I hope you enjoy watching it!
  3. <Introduction> Hi, this is Quodios Kerman. I recently started making videos of my 64k modded career play - named QKSE. I wanted to share my videos for your eye candy and for some advices to make my videos much more realistic and also artistic. I am uploading my videos on Youtube, so you can subscribe my channel. For some of you asking my mods, here's the mod list: <Milestones of QKSE> I have several goals that I want to achieve. They can be categorized into "Exploration", "Bases and Stations", "Vessels" and "Others". Specifics are listed below: - Exploration - - Bases and Stations - - Vessels - - Others -
  4. I was running 1.24(or whatever the last 1.2x version was) with a few mods without issues on my Ubuntu Linux system. I just updated to 1.3.0, and had a strange graphical issue where when I went to the astronaut complex, it looked like there were no active Kerbals or Kerbals available to hire, even though the tab showed I had 8 active Kerbals, and there should have been Kerbals available to hire on the other half of the screen even if I had no active Kerbals. I tried deleting a few mods thinking one might cause problems with the new version, with no change. I figured I would back up my KSP directory and do a clean install. I deleted the entire KSP directory and used Steam to download and install a clean copy with no mods/changes, 100% stock. Now when I am in the game, if I click on the astronaut complex, the buttons on the left side disappear (the buttons for entering the various buildings/complexes), and the "apps" buttons in the lower right go away, and the red exit/back button in the upper right goes grey, but it doesn't actually go into the complex, and only the escape key seems to have any effect at that point. If I hit escape, all the on-screen buttons/controls come back. I can enter other buildings like the VAB and the R&D building. If I go into the VAB, it looks like the marker lines on the floor are painted with what looks like snow from an old TV tuned to a channel that doesn't exist (static/snow). The normally white lines are white/black static, and the normally yellow lines are yellow/black static. If I build a rocket and launch it, the Navball has a circular section in the center where I can see the outdoor scene/launchpad that should be behind the navball. There are probably more graphical anomalies, but I haven't taken the time to do a thorough inventory. I'm running Ubuntu 16.10. I was running graphics drivers for my GTX 1060 direct from nvidia, version 375.26. I tried updating the drivers to the latest version 384.69, but that caused no change. Any ideas how I can get back to a working installation of KSP?
  5. There's just a couple seconds of KSP in it, but I bet you guys will like it anyway! I don't think we can embed videos in these forums anymore (if I'm mistaken, let me know and I'll edit this post later), so here's a link: Imagination Fuel
  6. Preventing extinction event by Class E Asteroid impact. Aerobreaks and everything my friend! Doing things the kerbal way https://www.twitch.tv/videos/161684011
  7. Hi! I am here to share a few cool, not overdramatized documentaries with you! (danger; first documentary is really scary, but there is no gore, but it is really scary) My favourite is "the beckoning silence!" I also want you to post your favourite documentaries, but please, mind the forum guidlines.
  8. This is just more than impressive! What do you think about it?
  9. DOWNLOAD crafts: in description in YouTube
  10. I've recently got back into KSP, and I've set myself the goal of eventually reaching the moon. I figured I'd record some of it and share it with the KSP community for giggles.
  11. I've managed to work out a fairly decent technique for making precision landings on airless bodies in KSP so I thought I'd make a video explaining how I do it. Hopefully this will be of some help to people having trouble with this part of the game. This is my first time making a gameplay video of anything and I stumble over my words in a few places but I think that overall it turned out okay. Using vid.me since YouTube's been doing some pretty crappy things lately and I figured it would be best to just stay away from that platform. I'm not sure if this will embed, but if it doesn't just click the link. https://vid.me/6st7
  12. Hi awesome KSP community! Earlier this year I had some time on my hands and I made a number of KSP gameplay videos, a series called SquashWarp! chronicling my playthrough of 1.2 with a bunch of mods. I don't have great hardware for the purpose, but I had a lot of fun making it before I got busy with other things. I recently realized that I never shared it on the forums, probably because I was afraid of criticism or something. I imagine I'm not the only player who sees the kind of amazing stuff some people can do with this game and ends up feeling kind of insignificant. But no longer! There are eleven episodes up, and I have a few more edited but not published that I will get up soon. As for if the series continues, I am not opposed to the idea, just not sure if there is an interest so I'll see how that goes and what people think! The full playlist is linked here! Now, because I feel like posting a link to a whole video series isn't really in the spirit of 'Mission Report', here is one such report about events taking place in episode 5 (at which point I had figured out how to get my audio in better shape). Elsted Kerman's Fancy Flight -- My first one-take orbit to runway landing in Kerbal Space Program: The goal: test a dyna-soar style mission with the Mk1 cocpit. The point is to test out the dynamics of returning from orbit in a flying vehicle, determine that mods and heating settings are correct, and pave the way for larger more useful space-planes in the future. Development: The project began with a test vehicle to determine flight characteristics of a small plane with stubby wings. But I think I may have been using an old install of the B9 wing parts, so Elsted began an uncontrolled dive, and had to jump out. (Thanks EVA chutes!) When Elsted had dried off, we built him a new plane and launched it with a solid booster to attempt an un-powered landing test. We were happy to find that it was easy to control and had a nice low landing-speed. Mission: With everything that had been learned, Elsted and the other Kerbals were ready for a full mission. They stuck that plane with a few modifications on top of a giant booster and staged! After the boosters are ditched, the small on-board tank is supplemented by two drop-tanks on the wingtips. Orbit achieved! Next Elsted deployed the payload... And then it was time for a return. Now here's the part I hadn't done before (without reloads). We made a rough guess on the descent profile, and then performed a retrograde burn. Elsted hit the atmosphere at the same time as sunrise. Reentry got a little hot.... But once the flames cleared Elsted was in just the right place for an approach. He was still moving pretty fast, and had to do a complete turn west of the space center to bleed off speed... But then came down for a well-aligned landing and popped his drogue chutes! Mission accomplished! Happy space-travels!
  13. Hello everyone! This is my first time ever sending a manned mission to Duna after 336 hours of playtime in Kerbal Space Program! After a great start of launching and docking 4 payloads to my carrier and sending it to Duna the mission went Kerbal very quickly. The first payload, which contains the communication satellites - got deployed by sheer force of rotation and couplers because they lack any kind of engine. These satellites were accidentally deployed into an orbit that intercepted Dunas moon, throwing them into weird and unpredictably orbits. This out-take will be part of another video. The second and third payload get coupled together into what I call a "Double Bullet" for obvious reasons. The airshells of the payload look like two bullets glued together. This "Double Bullet" then descends onto Duna and decouples only after the parachutes have deployed and decelerated the payloads. This way they land less than 1 kilometer apart. The landing needs some improvement, though. The last payload contains a rover and descends onto Duna before deploying a lot of parachutes for landing. By sheer luck, it flew above the first two payloads and landed less than 50 kilometers away. Highlights: All payloads docked https://youtu.be/qOgzB_NgUKk?t=380 Circularisation at Duna https://youtu.be/qOgzB_NgUKk?t=600 Deployment of satellites - without any engines https://youtu.be/qOgzB_NgUKk?t=660 Creating the "Double Bullet" https://youtu.be/qOgzB_NgUKk?t=963 Landing the "Double Bullet" https://youtu.be/qOgzB_NgUKk?t=1477 Landing the rover https://youtu.be/qOgzB_NgUKk?t=1700 Thank you for taking the time to read all this!
  14. Okay, so if you were struggling (like me) to get the "Look Ma, No Tractor Beams!" Trophy (achievement) on either PS4 or X1, then here's a YouTube video I've put together. I show everything, from the construction of the two rockets to the rendezvous and docking. Keep in mind the video is long; but all the information is vital to do a successful docking and earning the trophy. So first things first, here's a detailed parts list that makes up both Docking Ship 1 and Docking Ship 2. Both ships are identical with DS2 not having a heat shield and parachutes. The list for both ships have the parts going from bottom to top. Docking Ship 1 Parts from bottom to top: 1 - S3 KS-25x4 "Mammoth" Liquid Fuel Engine 4 - AV-R8 Winglets (placed in a + formation) 4 - TT18-A Launch Stability Enhancers (placed in an X formation between the winglets) 2 - Kerbodyne S3-14400 Tanks 1 - TR-38-D decoupler Stage 2 1 - Kerbodyne KR-2L+ "Rhino" Liquid Fuel Engine 1 - Kerbodyne S3-14400 Tank 1 - FL-R1 RCS Fuel Tank (Offset it into the S3-14400 Tank) 8 - RV-105 RCS Thruster Blocks (4 on top of the tank and 4 on the bottom, both placed in a + formation) 1 - AE-FF3 Airstream Protective Shell (3.75m) (set sides slider down to two 1 - Rockomax Brand Decoupler CSM 1 - RE-L10 "Poodle" Liquid Fuel Engine 1 - Rockomax X200-16 Fuel Tank 1 - FL-R1 RCS Fuel Tank (Offset it into the X200-16 Tank) 4 - RV-105 RCS Thruster Blocks (placed near the top of the X200-16 Tank in a + formation) 1 - Rockomax Brand Decoupler 2 - Gigantor XL Solar Array (placed on the decoupler 1 - Heat Shield (2.5m) 1 - Z-4k Rechargeable Battery Pack 1 - Mk1-2 Command Pod (put one Kerbal in it) 3 - Mk2-R Radial Mount Parachutes (lay them 90 degrees sideways, leave their sliders at default) 3 - illuminator Mk1 (placed near the top of the pod) 1 - Clamp-o-Tron Docking Port Docking Ship 2 part list from bottom to top (this ship won't have a heat shield and parachutes, think of this ship as a defect): 1 - S3 KS-25x4 "Mammoth" Liquid Fuel Engine 4 - AV-R8 Winglets (placed in a + formation) 4 - TT18-A Launch Stability Enhancers (placed in an X formation between the winglets) 2 - Kerbodyne S3-14400 Tanks 1 - TR-38-D decoupler Stage 2 1 - Kerbodyne KR-2L+ "Rhino" Liquid Fuel Engine 1 - Kerbodyne S3-14400 Tank 1 - FL-R1 RCS Fuel Tank (Offset it into the S3-14400 Tank) 8 - RV-105 RCS Thruster Blocks (4 on top of the tank and 4 on the bottom, both placed in a + formation) 1 - AE-FF3 Airstream Protective Shell (3.75m) (set sides slider down to two 1 - Rockomax Brand Decoupler CSM 1 - RE-L10 "Poodle" Liquid Fuel Engine 1 - Rockomax X200-16 Fuel Tank 1 - FL-R1 RCS Fuel Tank (Offset it into the X200-16 Tank) 4 - RV-105 RCS Thruster Blocks (placed near the top of the X200-16 Tank in a + formation) 1 - Rockomax Brand Decoupler 2 - Gigantor XL Solar Array (placed on the decoupler 1 - Z-4k Rechargeable Battery Pack 1 - Mk1-2 Command Pod (put one Kerbal in it) 3 - illuminator Mk1 (placed near the top of the pod) 1 - Clamp-o-Tron Docking Port Once you have the rockets built, follow the video and if you've done everything right, you'll have a shiny new trophy plus valuable knowledge of how to properly dock. 15. KSP, only while loading, will make my system screech. It's very audible. Perfectly quiet and cool during run but during the load phase as the bar creeps across the bottom, its unnerving. I have plenty of other games that are as much if not more graphically intensive, no issues running them. Anybody else have this? MSI GTX 970 OC for reference.
  16. Hello guys ! Would you be interested in a small YouTube series of a Stock, single-launch Grand Tour ? Anyways, here 's a trailer : (hope you like because there are more to come !) I also hope this is the correct place to post this. If not please accept my dearest apologies. LeXav
  17. WARNING! Before watching DISABLE your mind!
  18. In an exercise in precision landing and both over-engineering and micro-engineering, I go to the mun and back THREE times in a single launch without using any docking, mining, refueling or gameplay mods! A lot of testing and work went into this video so I hope you enjoy it!
  19. I see a lot of cool KSP-in-action videos posted in these forums. Could someone give me some pointers on how to make a video like that? I'm specifically interested in recording my attempt at one of the KSP challenges. Thanks!
  20. Hi, always wanted to do an Eve SSTO, but you have to accept that it is not possible with stock parts. So i just built a cargo SSTO that carries a disposable lander to Eve. Hope you like it.
  21. This video was my hardest to make. It required more effort than any of my others, and I love the result. I'd like to say right off the bat that this was the best video I have created. I enjoyed filming the mission as it went on and I hope you will enjoy what came out of it. Any other details are in the description.. It took about 4 hours of KSP playing, mostly thanks to my laggy computer, to get this done. Worth it. If you want the craft in the video, head here: Enjoy! And the people I need to give credit to are @zekes, @War Eagle 1, @SpaceXray, and @Mad Rocket Scientist for the Tupolev in the beginning, along with @RixKillian for his M4 Sherman, @Azimech for his ZSU-23-4, and finally, @Raptor9 for his C7-142 Seahawk. And that's all from me for now! I'll see you guys with another video soon!
  22. It doesn't look true but it looks like Titan is wrong color and it and Saturn are too close. I'm still spooked by it though.
