  1. THIS MOD IS NOT READY FOR A REVIEW. PAGE WILL GET AN UPDATE SOON™ After almost 50 years of the Kerbal Space Program, Kerbal scientists started to question what other mysteries might be hiding beyond the orbit of Jool. They pointed a telescope at all those distant flickering things in the sky and that day Kerbalkind discovered that they were just a small part of a greater cluster of stars and planets in the neighbourhood of Kerbol! Kerbal Star Systems presents "The Kermes Galaxy", a collection of 150+ celestial objects, 60+ star systems, a revamped Kerbol System, and one very important object to hold it all together, greatly expanding the scope of the Kerbal Universe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAILERS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION TO REDISTRIBUTE THIS MOD IN A MODPACK OR TO USE THE KSS TEXTURES FOR OTHER PROJECTS This mod is licensed by Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) ! 2. Hi, every solar system mod-maker out there, (especially ProtoJeb21) please can I request a new mod to be made (And to persuade KottabosGames to check it out when its done!)? No offense, it's just because I don't know how to make new solar systems. There are 5 new solar systems, but you can add them one by one. Thanks! Also, I'll submit the equatorial radius, to make things easier. Also, this mod is called Interstellar Defense planets rejiggered with moons, because the stars and planets are from a game called Interstellar Defence. I modified each one a bit , placed them with different stars and also added moons. I also modified the stars to be more realistic. Thanks for your consideration, and hope to see these enter KSP soon! The key: No hyphens: star 1 hyphen (-): planet 2 hyphens (--): moon 1. Alpha R24 system 2. Cygnus R10 system (Please add this one first) 3. Kepler R26 system 4. Europa R12 system 5. Fermi R25 system (please do this one after Cygnus R10) These are all the systems Interstellar Defense planets rejiggered with moons should add in! If you like the suggestions, you could start making this mod, and if you do, please let me know, thanks!
  3. About: I wanted to create a skybox for another eye-candy oriented game: I had fun creating one with Space Engine, so I decided to make a few more. This is the result. Installation instructions on SpaceDock. NGC 3115 Central Black Hole Album with more images You very rarely see black holes in skyboxes. I decided to give this massive one a shot. This is a real place in the universe: In this skybox, you orbit a star near the Central Black Hole of the galaxy NGC 3115. You can visit it in Space Engine by pressing F3 and searching for the 'Spindle Central Black Hole'. SpaceDock Download Between the Stars This one emphasizes the vast amount of space between the galaxies (Milky Way + Magellanic Clouds). This is a real place in the universe: In this skybox, you orbit a lonely star which ended up in the vast emptiness of space near the Milky Way galaxy. You can visit this place in Space Engine SpaceDock Download SN 1006 Nebula (3 Versions!) Comparision Pics: As colourful isn't everyone's taste, I included the unedited file and a darker one. This is a real place in the universe: In this skybox, you orbit a star in the SN 1006 nebula (the remnants of a supernova inside the Milky Way galaxy). You can visit this place in Space Engine by pressing F3 and searching for SN 1006. SpaceDock Download Large Magellanic Cloud - New! More pictures: This is a nebula inside the Large Magellanic Cloud. (A nebula inside a big nebula, and you can even see the Milky Way from up here!) This is a real place in the universe: In this skybox, you orbit a star in a nebula inside the Large Magellanic Cloud. You can visit this place in Space Engine Also, this one's a bit rushed. Tell me if something's wrong and needs to be changed. SpaceDock Download More Skyboxes Coming Soon I need to find more good scenery; I'm waiting for Space Engine to update to version They are experimenting with volumetric-based nebulas (SO MUCH IMPROVEMENT ) and you can even edit and create your own nebulas!!! In the meantime, I also found out about Spacescape. Now I just need to learn how to use it. You can donate me to buy me coffee so I work faster. (But I unfortunately still have to wait for Space Engine to update) License All Rights Reserved.
  4. Zyansias, a Galactic Cluster mod As it sounds, this mod replaces the stock solar system with a new system, named Fadophis. However, Fadophis isn't the entirety of the scope for this mod; it also includes a region of nearby stars in the galaxy (Nirad). - Current star systems: Zyansias (and its nearby stars: Darat, Zintem, Antin, and Flettor, with its one planet, Pirthes). Zyansias is a massive black hole at the center of this star cluster. It provides us with numerous stars caught and made near this singularity. For now it is the centerpiece of this mod. Tontea, a yellow dwarf star with (currently) one planet, named Cocceen, a massive gas giant which may have been a brown dwarf in the past. It has three moons: Hensi, Teralto, and Ispalis. Nosar, an orange dwarf star with six planets (three gas giants, three terrestrial worlds). I may possibly add dwarf planets/asteroids in the future however. Xinony, a tiny red dwarf star with (one currently) three or four planets. For now, only Vinsys, a titan ice planet with an ice moon, both of which have cracks, water and atmospheres. Fadophis, a blue-white main sequence star with four planets (will increase to six to eight), which are Uonits, Heraut, Caparis, and Plens. Caparis is the home of our race. Andis/Irau, a massive blue main sequence star with a blue-white companion named Irau. In this system are three planets: Sen, Kahn, and Lynt, an exotic green-white gas giant with massive rings. Oirator, a white main sequence oblate star with a moderate size planet system. As of yet, no planets have been made for this system. - Mod compatibilities: Currently, this mod will work with DistantObjectEnhancement and scatterer. I have not yet made compatibilities with other mods as it is in early development. - Having trouble getting imgur album to embed... I want to bring this to the attention of @JadeOfMaar , @Galileo, @Sigma88, and @Gameslinx for now, being relevant creators that may wish to know of this mod anyway. One question I have I will place on strawpoll: Finally, I planned to make this mod for users to suggest new systems. I only ask that it is kept within reason. Development Team: Tynton (Planet/Star designer, mod lead) JadeOfMaar (Lensflare designer)
  5. A not so photo realistic, good looking, Sun's perspective correct , ultra high resolution Milky Way background CubeMap for TextureReplacerReplacement. Methodology used in SpaceEngine: 1 - "Land" on the Sun. 2 - Orient the camera so that the equatorial grid is aligned (Top is North), looking through the 0h, 0° coordinates. 3 - "Disable" the Sun and planets. 4 - Adjust magnitude limit and stars brightness to adequate level. 5 - Generate the cubemap. Each of the 6 images are 6000x6000, 24 BPP, lossless compressed .TGA file. I tried going higher than 6k for the resolution but, SpaceEngine being a 32 bit application, this is not possible. It would crash during computation... Download the regular version (DDS files, DXT1 surface without mipmaps) here: Download the lossless, compressed TGA version here: Correct Original post below

Hi all, I opened this thread to look for a couple modders to work with me in making ksp star wars galaxy. So basically still have Earth, RSS, RSSVE etc... We would still have to leave Earth and go there, but at your destination there would be livable planets with earth like atmosphere. So in whole, it would be just adding a solar system like Constellations, which by the way is my favorite. I will contribute by building assets for the addon. currently I have two flyable crafts, TIE/IN and T-65 XWing. The TIE has both options of Interceptor or Fighter solar wings, Hatch opens , You can get inside thru hatch and add containers or whatever you like including the command chair. But it has the Capolola Internals so yes it has a cockpit view, TIE guns with actual sound including the scream of Twin ION Engines! The X-Wing has all the parts as well including working S-Foils, blaster canons etc... So if anyone is interested, please drop me a line or reply here. Thanks
  7. Hello everyone. I have an idea for a unofficial KSP mission that shall include mods. This mission as you can guess from the title needs a mod (or mods depends feed back from all of you) that extends the Kerbal-Verse (Universe for the kerbals) and possibly adds extra terrestrial technology or enemies. Thats right, the Kerbals after conquering the Mun turned their eyes towards the other possible galaxies and such stuff and decided to start a new mission. Extended Galaxy Resaech Team 1 or EGR1 This mission is in prototype stages and wont be shared soon unless some of you volonteer to help me find mods and test them. This is and idea i might remind you so dont get to comfy on the idea. If i get lots of good feedback i will start EGR1 P.S: Anyone knows mods that can add planets to the Kerbal-Verse please either give a direct download or a site where i can download the mod or review it. P.S.S: The mods need to be in 1.3.1 (I use a Mac with Steam) Good luck to all who participate in this grand adventure.

    Galaxy Planet Pack

Galaxy is a mod soon to be released that introduces more stars and planets into the game. The center idea behind Galaxy is to change the sun to be a black hole, scrap the original Kerbol system, and then make a new system orbiting a new star from which players start from. In addition to the new system an additional number of systems will be added. Current stars Alpha Da: A binary star system with a gas giant, Polyphelus, from the Avatar Movie. Polyphelus has four moons, one of which being Pandora. Darkstar: A black hole. Skylis: A small yellow star with one gas giant, Klon. Klon has two moons. Omega: A blue star with one planet, Zoola Future Developments: More Star Systems More planets and moons around stars Darkstar planetary system New Homeworld
  9. Far, Far away from the blue orb we all know. From it warmth and protection from the dangers of the cosmos. Lies a titan among galaxies. With over 53.92 trillion stars, this Galaxy has dominated its local group. Hundreds of billions of worlds host protection for life, though the environments may sometimes be extreme to the case of some civilizations. As well as life comes intelligence, over 34 million species in the Galaxy possess interstellar travel. 1.3 billion sapient species have technology at intermoonary/interplanetary space travel, and 617.89 billion have technology lower than ours. This galaxy has wonders on every corner, small black holes orbiting supermassive hypergiants, binary brown drawfs, a frozen ice giant orbiting the Galaxies center. The Uniqueness of the entire galaxy gives rise to unique civilizations... And their creations... Welcome... To the Hagito Galaxy... The Hagito Galaxy is a community project created with the aim on expanding and forming an entire Galaxy, star by star. No matter what we get, as long as a system is stable then we take it in... Designing a Galaxy

For the past month or so, I've undertaken a huge project for myself. I'm designing my own galaxy with individual stars and planets for an upcoming book I'm thinking about writing. I've created a bunch of different star systems with unique planets, moons, and even asteroids. Since I've been creating them for a while, I've been running out of new and unique ideas for planets. That's where you come in! I need your help coming up with ideas. I would really appreciate it if you would think of some unique planets with me. I need you to include if the planet is rocky or a gas planet, if it has moons or not (tell me how many and what the biggest diameter of one is), the diameter of the planet (in miles or kilometers, it doesn't matter ), if it has an atmosphere (if it does, how high is the atmosphere), its amount of gravity (i.e.- like it does in KSP), what color the planet is, and what its surface mostly consists of. Also, feel free to share a unique name for your planet! I'll come up with the rest like the surface temperature and its orbit around its star. Post your ideas below and I'll respond with a full description and all the data for the planet as soon as I can. I might just use your idea for my book! If you have any questions feel free to ask them. Edit: I'm not going to be creating an ENTIRE galaxy with the hundreds of billions of stars it may have. I may create as much as 200 planets and choose the most unique or strange ones (maybe up to 10 or 15 planets I may have mentioned or landed on.) So far I've created about 100 unique worlds and I just need help thinking of more.

    Kerbal Galaxy

Not to be confused with the (most likely) dead Kerbal Galaxy 2, this is just the development thread for a different galactic mod This is the development thread for a Galaxy mod I'm making that DOES involve stars orbiting around a central black hole, but instead of the 6-8 or so stars in Kerbal Galaxy 2, this is supposed to be an actual GALAXY, with a full 526 stars and 955 planets, a minority of the planets being rogue planets/planetary mass brown dwarfs (which do exist in reality), and all of those will be gas giants with moons. There will be: 228 Red dwarfs 36 Orange dwarfs 21 Yellow dwarfs 9 Yellow-white dwarfs 2 White giants 1 Blue-white giant 1 Blue giant 210 Brown dwarfs 5 White dwarfs 2 Neutron stars 2 Black holes (1 is the central black hole) 50 Rogue planets 5 planetary mass brown dwarfs Aaaand lots'a moons. Like, a whole metric ton of them if they each weighed the same as a grain of sand I know all of this sounds insane, but I'm going to attempt it.
  15. hi, as Hubble noticed in the 20th century, galaxies are getting further from each other, as a result of the expanding universe. space itself isexpanding. my question is, as space itself is expanding and galaxies are located in space, are galaxies expanding too? is for instance the milky way getting wider?
  16. The article links the consistent clearing of UV opaque space, called reionization, with the appearance of a large number of very faint galaxies about 700 to 900 million years after the big bang. These 250 galaxies represent the sphere of comoving space that took 13 billion years to reach us, thus we cannot know their ultimate fate; however we can surmise an approximate density. Couldh've the dust from the original stars, including supermassive stars we may never see and their associated shock waves triggered this round of star formation. I could imagine for example cosmic rays that slowed as they moved through increasingly variant comovong space relative to their origin, start interacting with gas.
