  1. My vision for this mod is to create stock alike believable parts to build passenger planes with. It is inspired by Airplane Plus, and will be made to supplement it as well as the stock parts. Here is an album with some concept art and work in progress screen shots: https://imgur.com/a/fAViy And here is an album showing up the semi finished parts: https://imgur.com/a/ljyIgIH Parts currently in the mod: Download at: https://github.com/neistridlar/Neist-Airliner-Parts/releases Tweakscale patch by @TMasterson5: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u6cliq18972oo1g/AADtWdAcCjVC-oGoO1_Jycfaa?dl=0 I am pretty new to modding in general, so if you have advise or suggestions you would like to offer, please do so. I do believe, however, that I have many of the skills required. My plan is to use Fusion 360 along with Blender for modeling, Gimp and Inkscape for image and graphics editing. I do know a little C++, python and matlab, which might come in handy, though I have never programmed anything with more than a command line interface, so I expect to have a few things to learn if I want to get into that side of modding. Also I want to set this up so that it is easy for someone else to take over in the case that I should disappear (knowing my self I usually don't stay focused on one thing for more than 1-2 years at a time), so any suggestions as to how to accomplish this would be welcome. @kerbmario Is now making updates for Neist Airliner Parts: https://spacedock.info/mod/3034/NeistAir%20Reupdated This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0
  2. Since the first planes evolved, kerbals always wanted to ride them without flying them. Then, they were able too with the airliner. But ever since the founding of the Kerbal Space Center, kerbals have wanted to go to space without all the training. Well, let’s see if they can! CHALLENGE- Build 1 (or many) passenger SSTO’s that fit with the rules, categories, and qualifications. RULES- The craft must be an SSTO that takes off from the runway and lands on a runway (doesn’t need to be KSC, modded runways allowed). The craft must have pilot(s) and flight attendants unless stated. The craft must be able to land on and return from the destination. No mods or DLC’s involved in the craft. MechJeb autopilot not allowed, though orbital information and planners are allowed. Visual and informational mods allowed. No cheating with hyperedit, debug menu, etc. Craft must be of your own design. Please post the craft launch cost (cost displayed in SPH minus amount gained in recovery). When posting, please put your: company name, type of category, launch cost, passenger/crew/pilot count, and Delta V amount. Also include at least 3 pictures proving the functionality of the craft. CATEGORIES- Private SpaceLiner: 2-6 passenger capacity, 1 crew, 1-2 pilots. Destinations- Mun, Minmus, Gilly, Ike. Small SpaceLiner- 12-36 passenger capacity, 2 crew, 2-3 pilots. Destinations- Mun, Minmus, Gilly, Ike, Duna, Dres. Medium SpaceLiner- 37-55 passenger capacity, 3-4 crew, 2-3 pilots. Destinations- Mun, Minmus, Gilly, Ike, Duna, Dres, Eeloo. Large SpaceLiner- 56-125 passenger capacity, 5-7 crew, 3-4 pilots. Destinations- Mun, Minmus, Gilly, Ike, Duna, Dres, Eeloo, Pol, Bop, Val. Huge SpaceLiner- 125-250 passengers, 6-10 crew, 4 pilots. Destinations- Mun, Minmus, Gilly, Ike, Duna, Dres, Eeloo, Pol, Bop, Val, Laythe, Tylo, Moho. Super SpaceLiner- 250+ passenger capacity, 12-30 crew, 4-7 pilots. Destinations- Mun, Minmus, Gilly, Ike, Duna, Dres, Eeloo, Pol, Bop, Val, Laythe, Tylo, Moho, and Eve (if you dare). ADDED NOTES: The stated destinations does not mean you can only visit those places. As an example, you can take a private SpaceLiner to Ike, refuel, go to Duna, back to Ike, refuel, and go home as if they are connection flights. When I see a craft that catches my eye, I will ask for further details and/or craft file. If it is up the the highest standards, then it will go onto the Best SpaceLiners Leaderboard. Have fun designing and flying! Best SpaceLiners Leaderboard
  3. This is one of my best creations: a reusable launcher made with stock parts only. Average payload is between 20 and 40t: in career mode it prevents huge funds wasting, making contracts more profitable and missions more affordable. However, you can boost it up to 70t with some modifications as extra fuel tanks and a few boosters. For a full technical excursus on how to make this thing fly you can check craft's page on KerbalX or the video I made appositely. For a rapid overview I made a Quick Guide album on imgur, which pics are available after the video. Some specs (from KerbalX): Type: VAB Class: lifter Part Count: 110 Pure Stock!! Don't get mad with those fancy mods which just drain power from your gpu... Mass: 282.41t Cost: 159,700.0 (My average funds recovery rate is between 98% if I land ON KSC, 96% if I land in a range of 100km) I hope to get some feedback of any kind. I hope you enjoy! I hope you'll fly safely =.= Upload huge craft files to the space consuming no gigabytes, or just some fuel tanks... ...and no, you won't waste 'em either. Take advantage of re-entry warming up your snack on the cockpit. Get back to KSC in time for dinner. Land safetely enjoying all those balloons!
  4. I'm pretty stoked that my Steerpike passenger jet has just achieved 100 downloads on KerbalX. I only started learning this game a year ago and posted the craft in May. Thanks @katateochi for creating such a great site.
  5. Absurd, but fun to build. https://kerbalx.com/Klapaucius/Steerpike-136-passenger-liner
  6. 'We need more income. The money for completing contracts isn't enough to keep our half billion dollar space center running', Gene Kerman said. Wilber, the head of PR, suddenly had an idea: Why only send astronauts to space, when there are so many people on Kerbin? And with that, the Tourism Program was created. CHAPTER 1: 'Change' The next day, all the staff and astronauts at the KSC, as well as those on missions (either watching or listening), were given information relating to a new project. It was to work on passenger aircraft, shuttles, and space station designs. The winner, who's design was accepted by the administrators, would be given their own KSC transport buggy. As soon as he'd heard the word 'buggy', Jeb imagined strapping rockets on the sides and flying away, but was bound by a signed contract not to attach anything providing external thrust to a vehicle. Thousands of drawings were sent in. A new area had to be built for storing all of these. Eventually, five were selected. 1: A light passenger aircraft, capable of holding six Kerbals (two pilots and four passengers). 2: A small Mk2 shuttle, also holding two pilots, and four passengers, with a cargo bay in the back for supplies. 3: A giant ring station, capable of holding four of the shuttles. In the case of structural failure, all Kerbals would move to the shuttles, and land back on Kerbin. 4: A large, four engined aircraft with the ability to swap out passenger cabins for cargo bays 5: A small, inexpensive colony 'pod'. It had room for four Kerbals, could run on solar power, and most importantly, be airdropped (by the aircraft mentioned above in cargo version). The only problem, building all of these in 6 months for the official program launch.
  7. This is an aircraft I made. It is a regional Aircraft with Modular Fuel Tanks. Oh, and i gave it a droop nose because Why not? 10. Eruptor SSTO: Trainer, Cargo, Passengers. The Eruptor SSTO is something I threw together in 5 minutes, and I expected it to make an amusing explosion. Instead, this was my best SSTO I've ever made. (That isn't saying much...) Stats: Mass-195 tons Total passengers-32 Possible tonnage to LKO- 13 tons Cost: 333,910 Recovery funds: 321,655 This craft is only rocket powered.
  11. SWIFTBIRD A useful holiday gift for the average kerbal The Swiftbird was originally built as a plane that flew around the rocket in "The Asteroid Sentinels" as a "news aircraft", but it proved to be an excellent aircraft on its own. The design was inspired partly by the ERJ-145 and flies even faster than it, reaching 300 meters per second (~Mach 0.87)! The Swiftbird lives up to its name, capable of executing high g-force turns. Despite the small fuel load, the Swiftbird has a range of 600 kilometers, enough to safely traverse the ocean that the KSC sits on. If it runs out of fuel, it can easily glide for at least 30 kilometers. Additionally, a round trip between the KSC and the Island Airstrip the aircraft takes 7 minutes (including the time needed to turn around on the airstrip). When a significant portion of the wing was lost during takeoff at the Island airstrip, the craft still managed to safely land back at the runway at the KSC. Be careful of tail strikes though—the plane pitches up pretty quickly when taking off. However the only damage done is usually to the horizontal stabilizer. DOWNLOAD Swiftbird Version 2 The second version of the Swiftbird, with wing mounted engines. Just like the aft-mounted version, it has good speed, maneuverability, and range. (You'll still have to worry about tail strikes, unfortunately) DOWNLOAD More Pictures Thanks for viewing!
  12. I'm not sure if this has been requested before but could it we see a feature for offering trips to space tourists like tourist agencies do? Currently a customer randomly walks in with their desired plan and bunch of money, you'll accept it or don't. You'll have no control over their will, you can't control when they come or how many of them come. This makes anything with more than 5 seats not worth it, as they'll fly empty most of the time. What I'm proposing is to have feature implemented so we could, as service providers, offer a package deal with a price we could set by ourselves. Higher to make more profits or lower to get more demand. This would make larger passenger spacecraft and SSTO's desirable, as well as it could incentivize building and launching space liners, stations, hotels and other related infrastructure to support space tourism. This would make Mk.3 passenger module properly useful. This would move KSP from where we're now in reality with dawn of space tourism to age of actual space tourism where space travel and tourism are common things. Slightly related cool pic of Rockwell's concept to make this post little more interesting.
  13. Hello everyone! The other day, I decided to replicate a passenger plane as best as I could. After focusing on the Boeing 787 (Because of the Mk3 Mini Expansion mod's Airliner Cockpit), the following is what I came up with: Mods used (also required if you download): TweakScale - Goodspeed & Biotronic / pellinor Mk3 Mini Expansion - K.Yeon Adjustable Landing Gear - BahamutoD Camera Tools (For the pics) - BahamutoD Download (Dropbox) Please notify me in the comments if there's a problem with the download link! ~Kerban Aircraft Industries (KAI)
