  1. To whoever may have experience with this kind of problem. I have recently encountered a problem in the 1.8.x versions of KSP in which a Mk3 spaceplane (stock + mk3 expansion) was struggling to break 300m/s with 11 tonnes stowed. When in previous 1.7.x versions the craft had little issue with a 40 tonne to orbit payload. This took some time to uncover as to why the plane lost so much performance over the update and it turns out that the stock mk3 cargo bay parts are no longer shielding any contained parts from aero forces during flight regardless of open or closed state. Because this is a problem with broken stock parts I already contacted KSP support without thinking about how fundamentally even basic mods can change the functionality of the entire game. I still have yet to determine if this is a stock or a modded issue. What could possibly cause stock aero shells to not perform their intended function? It is hard to depict just how much drag is coming from within the craft where it should not. So you may have to take my word for it when I say that the longest drag indicator is coming from a clamp-o-tron Sr just inside the MK3 tail section which is on the front of this aircraft body.
  2. Hey guys! So I'm back from a long break, and I have this question begging to get answered: I see large rigs like the stock Crater Crawler, and I wonder to myself, how the heck do you deploy something that huge? It doesn't fit the biggest fairings available, so what gives It's not even assembled in LKO, there's no docking seams! So tell me: how do you (in vanilla KSP) get something really huge up there and working?
  3. So i'm fairly new to this game and i decide i wanted to build a probe, so i did and i built a rocket with mk3 cargo doors to put it into space. My goal was to try and get into orbit then open the cargo doors and have the probe released. Once i got into orbit and opened the doors, activated the radial decouplers nothing happened. The probe was just sitting in the doors and it wasn't even attached to anything. i tried wiggling the ship around but nothing happened still. If Anyone has any idea on how to fix this it would be appreciated. Thank you. Screenshots~ http://prntscr.com/fl68xe http://prntscr.com/fl691w http://prntscr.com/fl697k http://prntscr.com/fl69eq
  4. I am having trouble getting large payloads to Jool. My payload is a 50 tonne base segment that I want to land on Vall. The payload is capable of landing itself from an orbit of Vall, but my problem is getting it there in the first place. With a 50 tonne payload, adding LV-N's on a stage below it usually results in an extra delta V of around 1000 maximum. Adding more can get that up to around 3000 Delta-V but by then I am lifting around 150 tonnes into LKO which I cannot seem to do even with the large Kerbodyne parts. I've thought of some ideas, such as breaking it into multiple sections, brute-forcing it with loads of Kerbodyne engines, and Asparagus, but have not tried any out yet. I would like to keep the overall cost relatively low, anything under 1mil will be fine. I do have refuelling depots at Minmus and Duna, if those are of any help. Any ideas on how I could get large payloads to far places like Vall?
  5. Hi, I'm having a strange problem with the Payload aerodynamic cowling *Fairing) separation on my "Rover Payloader". Basically I'm trying to place a Science Gathering Rover at a location on opposite side of KSP spaceport, and using a rocket launcher to place a cargo pod into sub-orbital trajctory, so it re=enters, and through staging eventually lands my rover on parachutes. The problem is when I STAGE the Fairing, the shell itself detaches but not the support structure holding the rover, nor the base - so I am left with the base and this structure attached to my rover which is now quite overloaded both for the parachutes!, When it lands (hard) there is a small explosion which usually cripples the Rover. The few tmes when I got lucky I managed to get the lander down in one piece, but still with the payload flange and support structure attached, and the Rover was basically struck (payload fairing far to heavy!). What am I doing wrong? Do I need to use a stage separate inside the cargo bay (between the back of rover and the base) to force a clean separation? I tried using one of those small blue separators but this didn't get rid of the base plate or supports! Also, if it matters I'm running V1.2 in Career mode. Thanks in advance for any advice, Jonathan Stevenson
  6. So anyone know a good way to send heavy payloads interplanetary? I would like to send a big submarine to laythe. The submarine is < 20 tons. Anyone know a good way to carry this all the way to laythe?
  7. Welcome! Here you can post your payloads (either in craft of sub assembly form), and people will deliver them to their destination with their own launch vehicles! Pictures of the payload are encouraged but not required. It is also encouraged that you show the payload's creator pictures of the payload delivered and/or being delivered. Happy launches!
  8. Hello everyone, I am having a little difficulty launching a refueler into LKO that can hold 4000 units of liquid fuel. Please note that I don't have access to 3.75 parts at this time. If I could see an example of a stable refueler. I'm pretty good with designing efficient and stable boosters and upper-stages, but this one has stumped me... It's just so unstable! Thank you, -Will Granda
