  1. This is a simple dll to bypass the launcher. It doesn't modify any existing files, so it still works after you check the integrity in steam. Steam features like time-tracking and workshop in VAB still works. Source code and download: https://github.com/c6ForH66/NoPDLauncher Installation Goto github releases page and download the latest release. IMPORTANT Copy C:\Windows\SysWoW64\version.dll to <KSP_INSTALLATION>\PDLauncher and rename it to version_original.dll Put the dll in <KSP_INSTALLATION>\PDLauncher Launch the game in steam and see if it works.
  2. My steam version of ksp2 cant launch. After I pressed the play button in steam, it starts a "PD Launcher" after a few minutes (so slow!) and just keeps loading in an empty black window without any actual response. I ended up starting the game manually from the file explorer. What should I do? Additional Info: my computer meets the min spec requirement and ksp2 can run normally when manually started.
  3. I only have one question, that's why I signed up here. Will you fix the regional pricing for Turkey? My son and I are waiting to hear about this, because this will determine weather we buy this game or not. Thank you.
  4. Hey guys With the latest 1.12.4 update, SQUAD / Private Division decided to introduce an additional launcher to the game which will start up after hitting the "Play" button in Steam instead of launching the game directly. IMO this is rather annoying and doesn't provide any actual benefits, in fact, it actually causes some trouble especially for mods. Since the update, me and others figured out multiple ways to circumvent the launcher which come with their own benefits and drawbacks, so here are a few for you guys to choose from, depending on which solution fits the best for you 1. KSSL (KSP Simple Steam Launcher) Pros: Easy to use You keep all the Steam features like the overlay, game time tracking, etc. Mods will work as usual Cons: Need to be reinstalled if the game ever gets another update or you verify the games file integrity @R-T-B wrote this wrapper which replaces the original executable of the launcher. Simply replace the "LauncherPatcher.exe" provided by them with the one from the stock game and you're already done and ready to go. 2. Change the game launch options (shortcut version) Pros: Resilient to any further game updates Mods will work as usual Cons: Steam features like the overlay and game time tracking don't work anymore Slightly more difficult to setup Steam allows to setup individual launch options for each game, which can be used to redirect the target for the "Play" button in your Steam library. This particular solution by @Gotmachine redirects the button to point to a shortcut, which then again points to the game executable: 3. Change the game launch options (executable version) Pros: Resilient to any further game updates "Purist" solution to keep the game 100% stock Steam features will work as usual Cons: Mods are very likely to break Slightly more difficult to setup So, this was the solution I came up with like an hour after the update but which turned out to be problematic later on. Works in the same way as the previous solution but instead of redirecting the "Play" button to a shortcut, it gets redirected to the games executable: Right click KSP in your Steam Library Click on properties At the bottom of the "General" tab, you will find "Launch Options" and a text field. Write in this text field "FULL GAME PATH TO .EXE FILE" %command% Close the window Profit! for example: The window is not resizable to show the full command but I guess you get it If you are having trouble to find the path to your game executable, you can right click the game in your library -> "Manage" -> "Browse local files". This will open up a window with your game files, showing the path at the top navigation bar. 4. The Kerbal Way (aka jump through three loops to accomplish.... "something") Pros: Mods will work as usual Steam features will work as usual Cons: Fairly janky to setup Not extensively tested A CMD window will be open as long as the game is running This is basically a combination of solution #2 and #3 but instead of redirecting the "Play" button to the game executable or a shortcut of it, it gets redirected to the windows command line (CMD) which then is used to launch the game. Choosing this solutions allows you to eliminate the drawback of missing steam features from solution #2. So, in order to achieve this, you need to follow the instructions from solution #2 but the command in the games launch options needs to be: "PATH TO CMD" %command% /c "start PATH TO SHORTCUT.lnk" The quotation marks are important, as well as using the ".lnk" extension at the end of the shortcuts name, even if it is not visible in your explorer window or part of the name you gave the shortcut. The "PATH TO CMD" should always be the same in windows: c:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe The "/c" will pipe everything in quotation marks after it as a command to the CMD, so we are just telling it to launch the game via the shortcut. In my case, the full command looks like this: "c:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe" %command% /c "start D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\"Kerbal Space Program"\KSP_x64_shortcut.lnk" What about Linux/MacOS??? I dont use neither of those so I can only refer to the post of @Nazalassa : I can't say anything about pros and cons for this solution, not even if it works or details about the execution, sorry. What about other launch options??? Other launch options like "-popupwindow" or "-force-d3d11" should still work as usual for any solution on this list. For solution #2 to #4, you can just add them at the very end of the command, for example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\KSP_x64_Steam" %command% -popupwindow or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\KSP_x64.exe" %command% -popupwindow or "c:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe" %command% /c "start D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\"Kerbal Space Program"\KSP_x64_shortcut.lnk" -popupwindow I hope everyone was able to find a solution which fits bets for their situation but if not, you're always welcome to ask questions right here in the thread. If any other solution comes up to fill up a niche, I'll happy add it to the list, same goes for linux and MacOS versions of the game. Also, any feedback is always welcome
  5. Just bought and installed the thing. Runs OK on Core i9 11th gen and RTX 3070 (not Ti). First couple of times I attempted to launch the thing from the Steam app, but couldn't. On a lark I opened it from the installation folder and it launched. Also got a Windows Firewall prompt to have it accept inbound connections, which I figured was unnecessary in single player mode so I ignored that. I made it to a Mun flyby and came back in one piece, though the seas were pretty rough on splashdown kicking the pod around. Trying to launch it from within Steam only had it exit right away, with '1 min' play time logged. Granted, I do have Software Restriction Policy enabled, and looking in my logs I found this: Access to C:\Users\gordo\AppData\Local\PD Launcher\pcr-1.3.0.1366\LauncherPatcher.exe has been restricted by your Administrator by the default software restriction policy level. And shortly afterward: Fault bucket 1920914238771734676, type 5 Event Name: RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: KSP2_x64.exe P2: 2020.3.33.23162 P3: 10.0.19044.2.0.0 Attached files: [snip the rest] I'm not too worried though. My setup is unusual compared to most. Though I do wonder why it's trying to run executable programs in user-writeable space. It launches from within File Explorer, so the game itself seems OK.
  6. Take note @Intercept Games! Wow @Dr. Kerbal, That's awesome that you're getting it on both platforms!
  7. I've recently decided to try Ubuntu after using Windows for years, and installed KSP via steam. The game installs and opens without problem, but after the loading screen, the game crashes and freezes my system. My specs KSP.log I'm a completely new to Linux, so I know pretty much nothing about the more technical side of Ubuntu, so if you can help me by simplifying it the most I will be grateful. Also, I've already tried to change to an older driver version, it indeed worked with KSP, but gave me problems with other games. No mods installed apart from the 2 official DLCs. Reinstalled the game at least three times and nothing changed. Please, help me!
  8. I am not exactly sure where to put this thread, so if it is not in the correct forum section the moderators will move it (Sorry to make more work for you!) I just want to know how to install KSP without steam because I am soon switching over to a different computer, and I have heard that it is best to play modded KSP without going through Steam. Can you tell me how to do it, or where to go to to find instructions?
  9. This happened almost just after I fixed a previous problem I had (Click here) with KSP. I opened KSP, opened the correct savegame (Is that what they are called?), bla bla bla... I went into the SPH, and loaded my KTM 1120-4.1, to modify it and make it the KTM 1060-3.1. It worked fine. Then, after making the necessary modifications, I tried to launch it, and it just went out to the KSC! To where I can click on all the different facilities, and not to the runway where I wanted to go. I tried again, but this time, I did it from the runway directly. The same thing happened. I went back into the SPH, opened the saved KTM 1060 up, and when I opened up the "Add crew to vessel" thing, there were no parts with crew capacity, even though I knew there were 3 external command seats. I was going to just place new seats, but in the parts toolbox, the parts that couldn't be the first part on a vessel were grayed out, like nothing was open!!!!!!!!! I tried to save, and it asked me if I wanted to overwrite, since there was already a craft with the name "KTM 1060-3.1". It does that every time I save it. I don't know why, but it doesn't bother me. Anyway, I clicked overwrite, and nothing happened. It acknowledged that I clicked it, but it didn't do anything. I also couldn't leave, open a different craft, build a new craft, move or add parts to the craft, or even switch between the VAB/SPH! I don't know what happened, but it is weird. I have S.A.V.E.D. KSP recently, but I don't know if it something was corrupted at the time I saved too? (Does S.A.V.E. just save your craft, or does it save everything? Meaning, if there is a problem with the game, will S.A.V.E. save that problem, or does it just save your craft files and stuff?) Is this post clear, annoying, confusing, or otherwise not pleasant to read?
  10. I just want to say that Kerbal Space Program 2 is in 7th place for the most wanted game on Steam (as of 2/17/2021). Way to go and keep up the good work ksp2 devs! Here is the link to see: https://store.steampowered.com/search/?ignore_preferences=1&os=win&filter=popularwishlist
  11. When i'm trying to launch game from steam - game loads, but right after i click somewhere in the game (for example no buttom "close" on update popout or even on load screen) game stops its animation and closes without any notifications or error messages. When I'm trying to launch game with launcher, not steam, game starts correctly. What can i do, and why is this happaning? I whatched event viewer. Thats what happening. There is 3 messages appears: (sorry, my system is in russian, so you probably need to use google translate) 1) (I Fixed it, but it didn't fixed my problem or others messages) XML: 2) XML: 3) XML: And i still have no idea how to fix it ((
  12. Hello, I've just purchased ksp via Steam and downloaded it, but the program won't load. (64-bit Windows, ver 1.10.1, build id = 02939, unmodded) The program window itself opens, but only shows a black screen. All of the system requirements seem ok. I've tried uninstalling / file check. I'm running it on my admin account as well. What should I do? https://imgur.com/a/YMstwu8 this is what the screen looks like. Also, I can't change the 'read only' of the file. The dialogue says it's done, but when I open I it again the setting 'read only' doesn't change. Can this be the problem? 13. I purchased the Making history DLC and used the code to add it to my Steam account. After putting the game down for a while, I re=downloaded it and suddenly my entire DLC was completely gone from my steam account. Is there any way i can get this fixed, or get a new code for my DLC? I might be able to dig up the proof of purchase, and if i do, will either Steam, Squad or Blitworks be able to help?
  14. Hi, Im wondering if I can install ksp on kali (i need steam) becouse kali is a debian baced and practicly a skin of ubuntu with some different tools. Im trying this tonight so i will post my result here. Thanks, Mine 36
  15. So, basically what it says on the tin. Freshly installed KSP 1.9 with both expansions. Clicked play and I get a window called "Kerbal Space Program -Unity {NUMBERS}" with the KSP icon and a progressbar, but the window closes before the progressbar fills. Using Windows 7 Home pro. Anything else I need to specify?
  16. Not sure if this goes into modded or unmodded, but anyways, here's my problem: Before getting KSP on Steam, if I needed a new instance of KSP to test mods, I'd go to the KSP website > account > download, then I'd get what I need. In this case, I wanted to install a new instance so I could have KSP with the DMP mod only. So, after getting KSP (no mods) on Steam to make updates and DLC a bit easier, the website thinks I only bought the steam version. But I bought KSP alone in 2013. I can't update any existing non-Steam instance without having to buy the game again, and that's my last resort. What do I do?
  17. Hello everybody! I am very excited to update to the new release, but it is running at around 5 frames per second anywhere other than the main menu. The menu is perfectly smooth. I have tried to set the graphics to lower settings, but that didn't improve the situation. My computer is an Ubuntu Laptop that isn't a gaming machine by any means and has pitiful memory, but it runs 1.7.3 fine. I bought the game through Steam if that helps. I did a clean install, but the behavior persists. I already looked through the KSP.log file, but I didn't see anything unusual. I saved a copy of the file if anyone wants to look at it. Thanks for looking!
  18. (brief) Discount on steam for direct buyers? Quite some time ago i bought KSP but it was direct, but now due to having to download the whole thing every time an update comes out (update might just not work for me) and having to constantly watch my mods so they stay up to date, i just want to buy it on steam. I know they no longer hand out steam versions due to it costing money on their side but could there be a discount for people who have bought it that would equal the cost on Squad's side for giving it away? Either by buying a code from the steam web page or some form of discount. I'd be willing to pay a bit more for a steam version. If im missing some fundamental detail for why this isn't a thing please tell.
  19. I'm sorry if the title wasn't too clear, but in case you have never used Steam, you have an inventory full of cards that you can sell for money or "gems". Is there any way to earn these in the game? Feel free to yell at me if I'm unclear. Thanks.
  20. As the title says.... Is v1.6 for Linux actually released? I play on two different computers, one Windows, one Linux. The Window system got the update to 1.6 first, there were some complaints about mk2 Lander but it all worked out in the end. Later that same day I went to play on my Linux system and I *thought* I had update dialog telling me about 1.6, doing upgrade, etc. I played, got the same warning about the lander and some other parts but it worked. Then trying to play again the next day I get incompatible save errors and it won't load. I started investigating this thinking the save had been corrupted only to realize I'm still playing 1.5.1 Now I'm wondering, did I imagine my Linux system updating? Did it revert? Is it even out?
  21. Years ago i purchased KSP directly from the website and i want to know if there is any way to get it for free on steam since i've already purchased it. I'm tired of having to re-download the game every time it gets an update and i want to switch over to steam. Any help would be appreciated.
  22. Can someone please help me: When I downgrade ksp to older versions CKAN thinks I still have the latest version.I thought the installed version will be recognized automatcally. Could it be because Steam does not change the Build ID when downgrading?Or is it because of CKAN itself? If its the second option, how can I fix it? Thanks for helping
  23. Now that Kerbal Space Program has Steam Cloud, there are some improvements that could be made to the way it uses it: A save is not just a single file - it's a directory containing several files. That directory is the thing whose state should be synced. Syncing the state of invidual files only can lead to the creation of saves that are hybrids of two different versions of the same save. Saves should not be shared between KSP installs that have different sets of mods installed.
  24. I've installed the game and the Making History expansion through Steam running on Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic). With the expansion installed, the game no longer runs. Sometimes it crashes before it can load the main menu. Sometimes it crashes or freezes at the main menu. The farthest I've ever made it was to click through to the Making History select-a-mission screen, at which point the game froze. If I uninstall the expansion, the base game still works fine. Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Anyone come up with a workaround?
