[1.3] [Kopernicus] New Horizons v2.0.1 [2JUN17] - It's Back!

The delta-V requirements are significantly less for Aptur. I estimate 220 m/s for landing/launch, and about 100 m/s to break orbit and return to Kerbin. Capture can bite you if you use an inefficient transfer but with an efficient flightpath that too can be around 100 m/s. What got me is the fuel used hovering, combined with the trouble finding flat terrain for landing, but then again Aptur's gravity is weak enough that when I did tip my lander (by bumping the Kerbal into it) I simply put it upright with the magic of reaction wheels.

Aptur ended up being my first Kerballed target and notwithstanding Bob's predicament I feel I made a good choice. Once I have him back I think I'll take on Serran next, because new worlds are more fun than the Mun, and I can unlock even more science gear ready for a Mun station or base with the lab.

Stupid question - at about what reputation level should I expect to start receiving explore-body contracts for out-of-Sonnah bodies?

I had mine occur at about 74% reputation, which appears to fit with the distance from Kerbin speculation. In stock I believe I had my Duna missions pop up around 61% and Duna is closer than the closest to Sonnah body in NH (Laythe).

Huh, I was wondering how this was calculated and why I wasn't getting any. I thought it was broke. But I guess my less than 70% was the issue.

I'm still working on my planet agnostic contract progression pack. Some day it will see the light.. Been trying it out on my NH game and so far it has worked nicely.

Anyway, I got Bob back. Thanks for the warnings about re-entry everyone, I checked it with a crash test dummy (totally not a Kerbal renamed Buster) and sure enough they burn up in a 75x65 orbit. So I jetpacked Bob to Kerbin orbit doing a powered capture and rendezvoused a ship with him there. Made a bit of a hashup of the rendezvous but hey, it was with an inclined, eccentric, retrograde orbit after all.

Wish I'd known that to start, I'd have set reputation gain to 150% ^^; Oh well, live and... live.

I end up declining most of the contracts. I'm a fan of the ones to accomplish things or get science in situation X Y Z. I get so many like:

I have not, but I definitely want to build a space casino! I will check it out and see how the "4 one-time progression" contracts work into its addition this far into my game. I'm curious to see how it adjusts to New Horizons as well.

Seems the latest release added New Horizons support

New release! New Horizons support! Better contract progression! Download!

ContractPack-Tourism 1.2.0

  • Tourist contracts no longer ask for as many tourists at once until bigger pods get unlocked.
  • Reduced grindiness - advanced tourism contracts no longer require lots of tourist contracts to be done.
  • Support for New Horizons.

Well this is weird, because with reputation at 49% (I failed a few things) I'm already getting out-of-Sonnah contracts, to planets I don't even know the existance of! ( using research bodies so I don't spoil myself :P )

And I've had Minmus contracts pop up a lot sooner than that

In all seriousness, this mod has saved my relationship with KSP! And I love Moh… Not quite as much as Sonnah, but pretty darn close!

I'm impressed that you managed to land on Moho! So far my probe's looped past twice, and it still barrels through the system at 19km/s... think I bodged up my transfer though, my PE is somewhere inside Ernus, which really isn't helping any!

Just awesome. FInally some planets I want to visit upon the first look.

More of a question to Kopernicus, but is it possible to make parent body cast shadow upon the rings?

EDIT: Any ways you could release a "lite" version? Most players won't get to the furthest planets, and 150megs of memory is a lot.

Shadows from planets is a limitation of the engine afaik, probably not going to happen unless a mod gets to it.

As for a "light version"....no sorry. Feel free to delete any bodies you wish, however everything as it stands is pretty well balanced for its current layout. Changing that will change the game quite dramatically.

Awesome! Thanks for working on this. I'm curious if this latest version of Kopernicus fixes any of the bugs I come across.

I notice you changed the Sun science multiplier which is good. The previous value is much too high. However, 1.7 seems a bit low to me considering the significant amount of time required to escape Sonnah's SOI. It is a lot more involved than in stock which has a 6.5 multiplier. Might a value of say 4 be doable?

~Edit: Sadly this bug is still here. Oh well.
