[1.3] [Kopernicus] New Horizons v2.0.1 [2JUN17] - It's Back!

I have a question about your planets. What are the ids for them? I can't find any form of "Flights Global Index", which should be the id of the planet. All my space ships moved when I downloaded "Other Worlds" mod, and I want to move them back to the Sonnah system. Essentially I want to know how to make patches for NH to allow for planet packs not directly supported by NH

If you need any micro-help(Which you won't @KillAshley Because your a boss), I am willing to. My knowledge of Coding is at best Mid-Amateur level for ksp planets but i am always happy to learn anything new. (I Love year 11/School)(Aussie).

I may take you up on that dude, just because you're aussie like me

Fourth here, and also I recommend when its updated Kill Ashleys Kerbol Plus remake I think it would do excellently in the KSP NH Modded series (Especially since ya know it will PROBABLY have atleast a 76% chance of working with NH since Kerbol Plus Remake is MADE by Kill Ashley but ya know :P) And also I would really like to see someone play this. A lot of people I have seen haven't been out to even to the next planet from Sonnah yet :( I have only seen someone go to Ernus

I really need to update that one too....eurg!

Also thanks everyone for the support! It's honestly pretty refreshing to see such love for the update, and helps me want to put it out faster too. Inspiration atm is still pretty low, and im honestly struggling to refine my ideas for the last 2 planets properly...

HOWEVER I'm starting to think that I may just use placeholder planets for the time-being so that i can get this update finished, maybe having less pressure on myself and taking time to relax and work on other things will get my mojo back. I know there will be a slight disappointment in that decision, but at the same time I know you'll all understand why I'm going to do it. On the plus side though; It means i should be able to polish off the remaining work in (hopefully) only a couple days! (providing work doesn't bite me in the ass!)

I'll keep you all posted on the progress. Unfortunately people told me to get twitter too, so occasionally i might post something there....maybe.......but if you're interested; https://twitter.com/KillAshley

Oh thanks, but now that I know the Ids I don't think that's my problem. I downloaded another planet mod, one of the interstellar ones, and it relocated all ships I made into orbits around NH planets int orbits around the new planets. Stock planet orbiters were not effected. I really am trying to fix this, but I think the only way I can is to force the ships back into orbits using the Ids you gave me (thanks by the way.) Really hyped for the new update! Also, I'm an Aussie too.

Kopernicus no longer supports manually setting flightglobal IDs, it generates them automatically. That means that they usually end up changing if you add or remove planet packs.

What I do is

  • Take screenshots of the Tracking Station before changing planet mods, which show each vessel and the world it is on.
  • Install/remove/whatever planet mods.
  • Start game but do *not* open save.
  • Open Kopernicus log file to find out the new IDs.
  • Back up persistent.sfs
  • Open persistent.sfs and go through each vessel and set its ID to the correct number.
  • Open save and check everything is alright.

Kerbin is always ID 1 and Mun always ID 2, those are fixed, so you can skip over those vessels. Sun is always ID 0, but remember that "galaxy" mods usually make the Sun a central black hole and put Kerbin orbiting a different star.

Should I take a quick look at the configs of Kerbol Plus Remade? I'm pretty sure I can get them to work for 1.1.2. While I'm certain you'll do better at updating the pack, I can at least make it playable in 1.1.2 for now.

Also, which are the two planets you're having trouble with? Because I can give it a try if you'd like, anything I can do to help.

i plan to update the planets in KP completely to my new standards, much like im doing with NH

the 2 im stuck on are Ernus and Derso, Ernus' "face" is giving me issues, as i can't get it looking right currently, but this might be just a multiplied by my frustration overall. and Derso just isn't co-operating, I want to create a sort-of Mimas-type analogue with a heavily destroyed planet with one super large central crater but it just doesn't look right. I think the break might do be good to change my mind onto something else for a while before coming back to it, rather than just exhausting myself and losing interest like is currently happening.

awwwww those are my two favourite Planets/Moons in the NH modpack.

Or just produce a "New Horizons 2.0 Light" that doesn't include those planets, then release the full version later.

@mbogger, please try to use less aggressive language when asking for an update. Also, know that rule 2.2f prohibits repeatedly asking for modders to update their mods. They are modders, and are required by no schedule to immediately update their mods. Just be patient :)

Also, welcome to the forum!

Let me be clear this is just my opinion but -

Release it as is. You pound your head against an artistic work too long and you'll hate whatever comes out of it. Just wrap with what you have. Not like NH doesn't have a ton more stuff than stock to begin with - not like 2 of the planets not being just perfect visually is going to be a problem for 99.999% of us. If you just leave it you'll probably do what most of us do and just hate it extra for lingering 'not finished' and want to come back to it even less.

Release it, move to the next project, come back to it later without feeling like you have this Planet of Damocles hanging over you. SQUAD released KSP for years without biomes beyond Kerbin and its two moons.

You do beautiful work and do it on multiple projects at once. We're all here because we love what you do and what you release and are excited to see it. Please, lemme have what you got. I'll be happy. Like it's Christmas. We all will. Come back and tidy up the corners on two planets later when you've an inclination and it'll be a delightful surprise.

Gimmie the NH2. I'll wait, don't get me wrong. However if you're frustrated with it then call it good for now, shift your full attention to the next thing in the pile and we'll be happy as Kerbals with a functioning re-entry capsule until you've a mind to swing back to it. I can't think leaving it hanging is going to make you happy either.

Hey Ashley, just rewatched the stream and couldn't help but notice that Lave is gone. It does seem like it is intentional, since you moved the orbit of it's former moon Eli (which is my fav by a long shot btw good work!). Now I'm curious about your reasoning behind this though. On a side note both ernus and derso are nowhere close to any of the overhauled planets and still look good on their own. In fact, If i wouldn't have followed the forums I'd never know that they aren't finished. Also, it feels like a lost opportunity that Gregox didn't install KASE as well. Would have been amazing to see the solar system like you pictured it to be.

yeah I completely removed Lave, as after a long time thinking i couldn't think of a gameplay reason to keep it in the game. It really offered no unique aspects to the system, apart from looking nice-ish. Sure not every planet has to serve a purpose, however having too many "generic" bodies kills the overall experience, and I'd rather keep the "generic" ones to a minimum, such as rocky moons. Yeah i forgot to tell him to install KASE along with it, was kinda a last minute thing as he was actually planning to stream UL and i randomly dropped him a link :P

Can you drop me that link too? I am a famous youtuber with 9 000 000 * 10^(-6) subscribers. I would love to do a review on that glorious mod of yours.

Looking at the gross properties of Lave - its gravity and atmosphere and so on - makes me wonder if it couldn't be remoulded into something that gives a KSP body the challenges of Mars. That is, the atmosphere is dense enough to matter, it'll destroy an unshielded ship, but it's too thin for parachutes to slow down enough for landing. Duna doesn't do that, it's too small and the atmosphere still too thick. I don't know of any other planet mods with something like it (barring RSS obviously).
