What does tour = False/True mean?

So I'm modding a Kerbal and I need to find out what the tour flag means in this list:

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

(In addition, could anyone help me find out how to make a kerbonaut a Pilot?)

Hm. Not playing in Career, so won't need that then.

Yeah it means tourist, the occupation is based on their name (somehow).

OP, from the looks of it, the type= value is what you want. You can check the configs for some other Kerbals, see if you notice a difference.

The occupation is generated from the name, based on unknown (to me at least) variables.

The name->career thing is likely a checksum/hashing function of some sort. That's usually how that sort of BS is done.

I'm hoping rather hard that they drop that nonsense for 1.1 (and they should have dropped it for 1.0 - kerbals abruptly changed careers in 1.0 because of a change to the checksum/hashing function).

No, Tourists are defined by their type. Ex:

I believe the "tour=" field is some sort of Grand-Tour related flag, but I'm not far enough in to have an example yet.
