Happens all the time. Since the Mun has zero orbital inclination in regards to Kerbin and the Sun eclipses are incredibly common.

An eclipse isn't merely Mun getting in the way of Kerbol. It's actually the Eye of the Almighty Kraken gazing down on you. Thus, eclipses are the best times to go visit the Monoliths, and are also auspicious omens for starting long voyages. They are a sign of the Kraken's favor.

Let me tell you about the worst eclipse that I've experienced.

I was descending upon Minmus when Kerbin eclipsed the sun. I lost power for SAS and RCS, and descended to my doom.

You can always pack more batteries!

More power storage means more time without needing a recharge.

With the new service bays I've managed to cram around five or six of the starter battery packs into one space.

Never had this happen to me before. Might be cause I always pack a 1000 energy battery on everything I build. That and I don't really drive around Kerbin much.
