Do you mods see who reports posts or do you just see the report with the message attached?

We also see who reports the post, which is important if we need to contact the person to ask for clarification if the issue is not clear.

Would it be possible to add some sort of "Save draft" feature to the forum?
Something like this would be super handy for those of us that write really long story posts. :)

I believe the forum automatically does that, @Just Jim. It's not perfect, but if you write a long reply and then get disconnected, it is usually there in the editing box when you hit reply next time.

Although a proper "save as draft" would be very interesting to see, that's true.

Yeah, it took 2 days to write up my last Emiko chapter, and I noticed what I had finished stayed put overnight. That was very cool, thanks! :)

And I understand most people probably wouldn't need something like this, but it would be nice if we could actually save a draft, and know for sure it will be there the next day, if need be.

I would definitely not recommend relying on that feature. For long posts like you make for Emiko, it would be much safer to write it down in LibreOffice or something and then copy/paste it into the forum.

As far as I know, the forum software has no "save as draft" feature, and I couldn't see any plugins for that, but I'm sure @ManeTI will let us know otherwise.

It's no huge deal... I do like you said and always have a back-up in Word going as I write it. I just find it easier to write in the Forum, so I can see how it's going to look. But again, I learned a long time ago to back it up every few paragraphs.  :wink:

I just wondered if it was possible.

Have you ever had a moderator that went power crazy and strictly controlled the forum? Just wondering...

A few forum members think so at any given moment, but no, we haven't had any real tyrants.

I've seen many people getting their logs snipped out of their posts in the support subforums because they cause trouble for the software. Should we report them when we see someone doing it?

Only if the file is large enough to cause slow page loads or actual errors.

I was wondering if it is possible to retrieve a thread, I am looking for a POST @linuxgurugamer made about a mod that has vanished, he posted a bit of MM script I would dearly like to recover, this is the thread link, but it does not work anymore https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/128414-1-0-x-FairingTextureSwitch-Switchable-Textures-on-Stock-Fairings!-July-11

It's probably lost, but do you remember anything about the script?  what is it for?

That wasn't me, but thank you for thinking of me.

I found the page in the Internet Archive:

https://web.archive.org/web/20150920004856/http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com:80/threads/128414-1-0-x-FairingTextureSwitch-Switchable-Textures-on-Stock-Fairings!-July-11

Unfortunately, it references a dropbox link which is gone, so you may want to PM the author of the thread: @Thomas P.

Good Job, I actually got the dropbox link and downloaded it, however, the first page is not the page you commented on, and I am absolutely sure it was you. It was 2 or 3 pages in, shame that wayback does not seem to have the other pages like this one http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/128414-1-0-x-FairingTextureSwitch-Switchable-Textures-on-Stock-Fairings!-July-11/page3

...are my ears burning? Here's the config. It's quite simple.

@PART[*]:HAS[@MODULE[ModuleProceduralFairing]]
{
	@MODULE[ModuleProceduralFairing]
	{
		@TextureURL = 00_Mine/fairings_smooth
	}
}

Of course, you may need to change that path and will need a png, dds, or whatever image file to go with it. I used a fairing texture from procedural fairings, from what I recall. I won't distribute because I can't be bothered to look up their licensing :D

(This was from about a year ago, so for all I know it won't work anymore, but it probably will)

That thread no longer exists on this forum. It might have been one of those accidentally deleted in an unfortunate event a few months ago.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just reading through the guidelines to catch up on anything important, but this caught my eye:

4.3 Users under the age of 13
Users under the age of 13 who reveal their age or face may have their messages/photos removed and accounts closed for privacy reasons

Didn’t this use to be 18 years old? And if so when and why was this changed?

And this is probably a good thing. Come to think of it, I once did a similar post...I imagine neither I or @Just Jim will ever be in the running... Its ok. I'd rather watch the show than have to clean up messes! :cool:
