I'm 70% done with my Ares V, I need to do the fairings, fix details, and update to 1.0.4, and fly it. And I'm the 404th reply...

UPDATE: darn it, the bottom 1st stage kinda just jolts out of place and explodes right after liftoff in 1.0.4. :I

Idea! Could I adjust the thrust values of the nuclear engine in it's cfg file, so burns are less painful?

It is not my thread, but i in general dislike editing parts for personal needs, as the mission and craft cannot be recreated by other players, unless they tinker with their game too. Would be a reason for me, not to download the craftfile f.e. – Just an opinion.

Oh, I just meant for testing purposes, I would change it before release to make sure it works on a stock game.

I think that's a step too far. If you are unhappy about the burn times, just use another more powerful Lv motor. Kat did for his constellation mission. That's a much better solution to editing the game files.

Finally back to work, I accidentally deleted some mods before the planned "De-tweakscaling" Process. My two constellation Duna landers broke. So kids, here's a tip: Check if any of your important crafts use a mod you're about to delete. Also, for a stock build, don't use mods.

I played around with paint.net and wrote random stuff in the meantime.

Back to rebuilding the landers.

EDIT: In Japa- I mean, East Serachioa right now. Yeah. For a week. With no laptop.

Hello fellow constellation-ites,

Here's a thing. Some pics of my first rebuilt Copernicus. It was heavily based on my first one. It looks super cool but not much like the real proposed Copernicus. It wasn't in three parts for one thing. That is why I have completely rebuilt it to look exactly like the real one. I will show that one soon too.

At first I wanted to use the 3m White parts and make a constellation alike. An attempt at something refreshing.

I decided I wanted it to look more like the real proposed one. The majority of the one shown are as they where in the first pack I made. The transfer stage is different as is a few up front bits. The new one is a complete redesign.

I'm not planning on making my DTV the star of my pack, I'm aiming at a low-part-count usability, with it looking like it, but now exactly perfect.

The stars of my pack are going to be the landers, and orion, if the fairing clipping bug is fixed. The ares rockets are going to look right, but I don't think they're super beautiful.

What's going to be your best of the pack?

Still silently tweaking things in the background. I have 20 minutes/day time slot for Constellation things, and recently, It's been spent on Altair building, testing, scrapping, and redesigning, as well as ranting for stock 5m parts.
