Dead?! :o

How the heck did that happen? Well, I guess that would explain why they can´t be thawed...

I don't know but If you enabled "ElectricCharge Required to run Freezers" and "Fatal EC/Heat Option" in the difficulty option, you probably ran out of EC at some point or the freezer became too warm and failed.

I'm actually surprised the kerbals didn't disappear from the craft but remain there as frozen corpses :o As far as I know, this should not happen.

I did some quick testing. The Kerbals did indeed die as the freezer ran out of EC. Tried again and tested different things. Turns out the station is only drained of power if a Kerbal is frozen and I go to max time warp. If no Kerbal is frozen I can go into max warp without issues. Or if a Kerbal is frozen and I stay below max warp.

Is this supposed to happen?

EDIT2: Did some more testing. Turned off the need for freezers to have EC. Was still unable to thaw them. Same message.

I would need some more specific information for the particular circumstances in your save but here is how it generally works.

If you have requires EC difficulty option on, and your freezer runs out of EC. The Kerbals will die and respawn, or perma-die if you have that difficulty setting on.
If you have Background Processing mod installed, this could occur even if the vessel is not loaded/active vessel in flight.
If you don't have this mod, DeepFreeze will do a catchup the next time you switch to that vessel, and then they will die.

In timewarp - it does not do EC processing above timewarp x 5. This is due to stock issues when processing resources at this high a time warp. Though it does give a warning. But at high warp you can miss it.

v 0.26 published for KSP 1.7.x.

Biggest change is the addition of my Background Resource processing module. Those that also use TAC LS would be familiar with this module.
It will:

a) produce EC from solar panels, resource converters, generators on vessels that are unloaded (IE: not the active vessel in flight).
b) consume EC for Deepfreeze frozen kerbals if you have the requires EC to run freezer difficulty setting on.

Hey does anybody know if there would be any conflict between the background processing of EC in this mod and the background processing of EC in Kerbalism?

Conflict... dunno. But if that mod also generates EC for unloaded vessels then they would both be doing it.

you can turn off background processing for Deepfreeze in its difficulty settings. The down-side would be it will no longer consume EC (which only happens if you have the required EC for freezers difficulty option on, or produce it) for Deepfreeze unloaded vessels.

I’ll look into a second difficulty option to split the production vs consumption for the next release.

Okay. I do use all of the difficulty options of Deepfreeze, so separation of the production vs consumption would be good to see, thanks!

It's working great when I put just the freezer (the one which holds 3 kerbals) in orbit, but when I built a ship that I used to get to tuna, I wasn't able to thaw my kerbals, it showed that there was some code error. Heres the log https://transfernow.net/ddl/ksplogfordeepfreezebug

Sorry can't access that file.

I am confused by the CRY-0300R crew hatch. The part looks like it has legs, so it wants to be mounted as horizontal, like a bed, but the Kerbals exit through the crew hatch like the part should be stood up. Is there a mod we can use to rotate exit orientation on crew hatches?

Looks like BackgroundResources, and therefore DeepFreeze, now have a TacLifeSupport dependency.

[LOG 19:42:12.713] 9/6/2019 7:42:12 PM,DeepFreeze,Err: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'TacLifeSupport, Version=0.13.12.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies.

That's repeated for MB after MB in my log since launching a vessel with DF parts.

I can't access the settings window at KSC. The settings button isn't visible. So I'm running the mod with default settings. Alarms aren't working, but I can freeze kerbals just fine. I didn't discover this until after looking for the settings menu.

When switching to my DF testing vessel from the tracking station, DF logs a bunch of NREs.

Not sure if they are related to the TACLS dependency.

I'm using USILS so TACLS isn't installed. If I install it, will there be any conflicts with USILS?

Be nice not to paste the whole log into a forum post. But yes, you are right. There is a dependency there that was not intended.

I'll release a fix in the next couple of days.

In the meantime, if you remove the \gamedata\reposofttech\backgroundresources folder from your install the problem should go away for now. you just can't have background/unloaded vessel resource processing.

Hello and thank you for this tremendous mod! Other than being really cool and adding some neat parts and technologies, it's really handy when one uses a life support mod and wants to travel further than Minmus.

Today I encountered a peculiar bug. Sent three space ships of the same type (and the same name) to places, and each ship had three kerbals on board that I froze. Now I was trying to unfreeze them, but the freezing modules pretend they were empty. When I open the in-flight deep freeze menu, all those kerbals are there, but they're not assigned to a vessel - the vessel name field is empty for them (as opposed to some other kerbals on a totally different ship - unique in name - that are thawable). The KSC deep freeze menu gives me the option to actually thaw the kerbals in question, but all it seems to do is withdraw 10k from my account with the kerbals still in limbo.

I do not use and have never used the EC requirement to run the freezers, nor have I ever activated the max temperature limitations in the settings, so I know for a fact the frozen kerbals have not died.

Has anybody encountered a similar issue? Is there a way out of it? Does it only happen when you use multiple vessels of the identical name and type? Thank you!

EDIT: Correction! I have just now tried freezing and thawing in a different save and it turns out that duplicate vessels are completely irrelevant. The unthawable kerbals just appear to be a thing no matter what. I think I actually updated the mod to 1.7.2 since the last time DeepFreeze worked correctly. I have been playing on the game version 1.7.3 and all the freezing / thawing have been fine with the older mod version. Now I am even more intrigued!

I ask me about the results . I have 3 kerbals in a ship in sun orbital. I freeze them one after one. They have respectivly before freezed  (i use kerbal health mod and TAC life support) Ferdore 45d; Max : 26d and then Edmedine : 29d.
When i defreeze Ferdore, he has left 27 days. When i defreeze the second one Edmedine, Ferdore becomes 60 days instead of 27 or 45 d, Edmedine has left 37 d (instead of 29d before freezing).
When i defreeze the third one (the last) Max, Ferdore has left (36d (instead of 45 then 27 then 60), Edmedine has left 24 (instead of 29 then 37) and Maximilian has left 22 (instead of 26) ????
how are doest it calculate that?

In fact, i have had some pb with the defreeze of the third . It has aborted one time. I try to do a second time and it works. But i get two Maximilians . Then, i have deleted one maximilian with retransferring him to freeze chamber where the first maximilian was, and then transfrt him to cabin with the others kerbals.
And now, i have my three kerbals with their beginning stats before freezing (Ferdore 45d, Max : 26d and Edmedine 29d. ???

Hello,

For one kerbal who i want to thaw, the cryo system tells me that the thaw is aborted and asks me to check the log ? But where is that log ?

refer to the opening post. has all the details there on where to locate logs and ask for support.
