Any plans for a license server?

Recommended Posts

We recently purchased KerbalEdu for use within our Libraries. I notice that KerbalEdu requires a unique license key for each copy - this is something that I can't really see working with our environment without a fair bit of re-engineering on our end.

Are there any plans for a license server? We utilize a program called Deep Freeze which means that every time a machine reboots - any changes are lost (such as license information). A license server would fix this problem, as well as allowing us to automate deployment.

KerbalEdu actually does not require a unique license key for each copy. You get one license key for each purchase, and if you purchase more than one license at a time, the same license key is used for each of your copies of KerbalEdu.

When the license key is input, it is written to a file. This file is <YOUR_KERBALEDU_INSTALL_DIR>/KSP_Data/sharedclasses.uclass. So to make your frozen installation of KerbalEdu work, just make sure it contains that file and that the license key is in it.

When starting the game the first time and inputting the license key, also the mac address of that computer is saved in the file, on the second line below the license key. If you wish to later remove a license from one of your computers, change the mac address in the file to be the mac address of the computer you wish to remove the license from, and then run the RemoveLicense.exe in the installation directory.
