has the mod been abandoned?

No.

However, it has been put on the back-burner, pending a redesign to be ocean based facility.

I do not have so much free-time, so am focusing on my primary mods :)

Another suggestion: Electron (Rocket labs)

I can make some of the parts of the rocket if there is enough demand to construct an additional launch site.

Given cuurent KK issues (due to collider 1.0.5 issues), consider this mod abandoned.

Beale, I dont know if you are aware, but looks like there is an unofficial community fix for KK that worx in 1.0.5...Supposedly the method may not carry over into 1.1, tho, so we'll see...

So will there maybe be hope for this mod later on?

We will see what 1.1 does. It may break everything again.

Well I hope it continues, that would be awesome. This could evolve into TantaresLS, LS for Launch Sites. Maybe a cosmodrome (desert), vandenburg equivalent (other side of KSC continent?), and something else.

Some one already made a Cosmodrome so a bit redundant, Vandenburg would be cool but it isn't a Russian/ESA launch center.

you can make these yourself though with KK add-ons' assets

Yeah, is there a tutorial somewhere? I think there is one on the KK thread but it didn't work for me.

no, I meant like  download kerbinside CORE, or other KK addons  Launch a vessel, land said Vessel at  a place you want a Launch site press ctrl + k and make a site.

I would like to continue it, I think if KK is up and running in Unity 5, I have all the assets ready made, it would be simple to go forward and get this released. It is just a question of waiting :)

Wonderfully, it seems KK and even its 1.0.5 older mods are functional in 1.1.

It has been a while since I worked on this... I'm not even sure where the launch site is, or if it even exists.

You may have to open the Kerbal Konstructs menu and spawn your own.

So @Beale the pad is still on the island but underground... With 1.1 KerbalKonstruct the pad was on the list so problem here

 

Wait nope, in fact the pad is on a really tiny Island uppon the great first one
