[1.0.4] EVA Enhancements - pitch/roll/navball and more!

Just to be pedantic that would be 3rd person still. Also do you mean camera behind the kerbal?

You are right of course :). It is definitely 3rd person, but "2nd person" is an established term in gaming for a chase-cam afaik.

And yes the camera would be above and behind the kerbal, much like you are playing an ARPG or MMO ... in space ... with jetpacks. Even though the kerbal's controls would not align perfectly with the camera, I think it would be a very intuitive way to EVA.

*facepalm*
You missed the word "more" here, my friend.

I've got a problem with EVAs and KIS. I don't know which mod is responsible, if it's a conflict or a bug in the game. Be assured I have the setting "EVA face camera" off. I don't want my kerbals to use RCS automatically, but they still do use it and that's my problem.

I have a KIS container on my back and, randomly, the kerbal tries to fight inertia, losing control altogether, spinning on itself. I'm not pressing any key but the RCS fuel is being used while it shouldn't.

That was why I love that mod so much: full control over the EVA...

I recorded a video here (mute the french ;) ):

You can see how I'm fighting with the conflicts there.

Any clue on what's going on?

Edit: I found a first reason... click-drag the windows around in EVA makes the jetpack run. An option to disable click-drag EVA movement would be amazing. Another reason would be that "space" to roll toward the camera doesn't respect Jetpack's modified power. It's always 100%

Apparently they fixed this issue in KIS 1.1.5 . so maybe it's a conflict : https://github.com/KospY/KIS/issues/36

I've been getting some log-spam of

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
at EVAEnhancements.EVAEnhancements.OnUpdate () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at Part.ModulesOnUpdate () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at Part.Update () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

(Filename: Line: -1)

Might only be happening when I use one of the little external command chair things. Not sure if it's actually causing any in-game issues.

Yes, I am hoping to push out an update within the next week. Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time to tend to my mods recently. While this should continue to mostly work with KSP 1.0.5, the EVA navball is now stock so it's interfering a bit with mine. In particular, my hooks into the RCS and SAS indicators no longer work. I also notice that the stock navball moves relative to the camera instead of relative to the direction the Kerbal is facing. Personally I like my way better :-) If it's not too much of a pain I might try and restore my behaviour and make it a configurable option. At a minimum though, I'll fix the indicators. Stay tuned!

Version 1.1 1.1.1 has now been released.  It contains some general bug fixes, and restores some of the functionality that was broken with KSP 1.0.5.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to change the navball orientation - the new stock ball seems to be hard-coded to move relative to the camera instead of the Kerbal.

Squad fixing things that didn't need fixed since 2011. Thanks for the update!

Sean, I'd like to report a bug wth the external command seat. When I board a kerbal in the seat on a vessel, the EVA Enhancements mod keep its modules active on the navball. This causes the RCS/SAS lights to be unresponsive, as well as the thrust indicator (although RCS, SAS and thrust work normally).

I find this mod quite useful, but I have an issue with the controls. I can pitch down, but not up, as I can't seem to figure out what on earth an "Alpha2" key is. Yes, I know I could change the layout, but you did a good job on the default keybindings otherwise and I don't want to remap it until I have confirmed that the bound key does not in fact exist.

Yup, I do plan on releasing an update for KSP 1.1 in the near future.  I've been away from the modding scene (and KSP in general) for a while so I'm still getting up to speed on all the changes :-)

My Kerbals are looking forward to it!   (I *really* miss being able to rotate my Kerbals in EVA - for some reason I don't seem to have a 'down' command...)
