Does it work with any other mods or just stock so far?

I just tested it out and it sorta works with other parts. Since they don't have colliders you can just float through the closed hatches. you could float outside the vessel too, but that's kinda beside the point.  Not all of the stock parts have complete colliders tho, also I think Restock/+ messes with some of the hatches (?)

It also seems that if you pass into a part that isn't known to the mod and back into a known part, you can't interact with some of the hatches and chairs that you could previously.

Small progress report: using the large battery part won't limit your mobility.  This has shown up some issues in Free IVA that will need to be fixed, but there will soon be two extra IVA spaces added by this mod to traverse through.

I am shocked and amazed at how far this has come.

Just wondering, is there a particular reason this isn't available on CKAN?

Very good question, but i would have to guess because its a WIP, and not nearly complete. Also, from the OP:
"Lots of bugs! Don't use this in a main playthrough, and don't report bugs to other modders while this mod is installed! "

Same here.

Same here

Thats because there are NO colliders in the IVAs/parts you trying to interact with...
That seems to be one of the main reasons the mod hasnt taken off.
To use it, *every* IVA/part model you would want to use it in, needs to have at least colliders made, and possible new meshes/textures modelled...
Thats an insane amount of work for one, or even a few, people to accomplish :(

FreeIVA is back, again!

This update should be pretty much fully featured for playing in stock.  There are surely still some rough edges and not a lot of polish, but at least it shouldn't be so easy to just wander out of your ship into the void of space.  Plus it has sweet new hatch models from @Icecovery!

Controls: https://github.com/pizzaoverhead/FreeIva/wiki/Controls
Support: https://discord.gg/vBDzZAq3AF

Dependencies

  • ModuleManager

Notable Changes

  • All stock and DLC crewed parts and docking ports (and several adapters) are supported
  • Fixed many buckling/unbuckling issues
  • You can now go EVA from most hatches that aren't connected to anything
  • Added custom hatch props with clickable handles
  • Added custom harness and seatbelt props with clickable buttons
  • IVA colliders can now be built in regular MODEL nodes
  • Sorted out collision layer issues
  • Lots of other stuff

This update is big news. I had a dream around five years ago of creating a feature-length cinematic film using Kerbal Animation Suite and FreeIVA, but fell apart at the seams in planning. The fact that you're working on this for use in VR is... incredible. You rock JonnyO!

For some reason, when I use the MK1-3 Command Pod, every time I am docked, the door is all messed up and is placed the wrong way.ejQGwts.png

This is, in fact, exactly where the kerbals placed the hatch (turn on internal overlay while in external view).  But it's enough of a pain point that it will be fixed in the next release.  A pre-release build is available here: https://github.com/pizzaoverhead/FreeIva/releases/tag/0.2.1-prerelease0

thanks a lot dude, also, is there gonna be VR support to this? or will i have to just use OVR?

Yeah that will be coming.

Can you take better pictures of what's going on?  In the first one I can't see anything.  And better context about how the ship is constructed would be nice for the second picture (but maybe that's what the first one was supposed to be).

ye sorry

the first one basically shows the rocket with the inline clamp-o-tron open, and the second image shows that the door is supposed to be open, but it isn't.
