Just want some peoples opinions.

Having a little trouble with my current laptop and looking to get a new one.

I do not trust the reviews I have read since they seemed to be too positive. Not mentioning anything or only one minor negative thing.

I am going with a laptop since I live on a boat and really want to save some space. It will also be used as a backup to my main navigation system so I need to be able to move it near the helm.

I am somewhat computer literate but rather far from being an expert.

I tend not to play many games and the ones I do seem to rely on the CPU more so then the GPU. Games I tend to play KSP, management and strategy. My top games are KSP, Silent Hunter 3, Total War franchise, and ocassionally RPG games.

Thanks in advance for any advice and help.

I have an older G75 which I bought new three years ago. It's not a small laptop (I had trouble finding a suitable backpack for it at the time). I have been very happy with it, and when I get to the point where I need to replace it, I will most likely buy another.

Games I have played with good performance:

KSP (obviously).

FSX

Alien Isolation

GTA V

Wolfenstien The New Order

Far Cry 3

Crysis 1 & 2

It doesn't cope too well with ARMA3 or Elite Dangerous. I can play them but the graphics have to be tweaked down. A new shiny G75 should have no problems with them though.

:sticktongue:

I could not find any negative user reviews on ASUS which I find rather odd. Having worked in customer service even a great product will have someone complaining about it even when it is working and performing as advertised.

I did find some negative reviews on amazon that went beyond just saying the product sucks for some of ASUS older models. Seems if I do not get a lemon from them the product will work great for years. However if there is a problem ASUS's customer service may be unresponsive and rather a pain to deal with.

I am just going to pull the trigger and get it from Amazon so at least if there is an issue whithin the first month I can deal with Amazon and return it.
