Do You Consider "Is X Cheating?" Threads Useful?

Creating a flame-bait thread about other flame-bait threads is pretty much the definition of intellectual laziness. Meanwhile, in other news, someone cheated at KSP by using science.

The only thing that bothers me about "is x cheating" threads, is the lack of understand of the word 'cheating'. Read a dictionary; save an unnecessary forum thread.

KPS is a single player game, play it how you want. It doesn't affect any one else if you decide to use cheats or not.

Agreed, but the second sentence is an admission that you can cheat in a singleplayer game. Not enough people here seem to be able to understand that.

For a single player game, such questions are useless.

There is no morale to judge in a single player game.

Everyone utilizes or maybe exploits the game mechanics to his own pleasure.

And for me, that's what gaming is about.

As long as you do not hurt or betray another human being, I don't question if it's ok to do this or that in a game.

The problem is the word "cheat" has multiple definitions. It causes the same confusion that the word "theory" causes in discussions of evolution.

Is it cheating in the sense that you are circumventing the mechanics of the game to attain a goal that would require more work or may even be impossible? Yes.

Is it cheating and you're a cheater and you should feel bad you cheating cheater who cheats? No.

Useful, not so much, as it is up to everyone him/herself, what s/he considers cheating

(and for challenges, it is up to the participants or the organizer, to determine what is allowed and what not)
