The S.A.E.V.

Recommended Posts

The SAEV is a small craft consisting mainly of a tri-fuel tank design with fuel lines feeding into a vectoring engine at the bottom of a standard main capsule module design.

It uses 6 solid rocket boosters for take-off and it then switches to three 1 tank engines for leaving most of the atmosphere; the SAEV then switches to orbital mode detaching 3 winglets and the atmospheric escape engines/tanks. The SAEV then lights up the main engine and escapes the atmosphere and gets into a 1,500,000m orbit with around 1 1/3 tanks left for deorbiting. Finally the lander section of the SAEV activates detaching the tanks and main engine modules then 3 remaing winglets are exposed for an accurate landing on kerbal.

S.A.E.V. track history:

Successful takeoffs: 57/68

Successful staging breakoffs: 56/57

Successful orbits: 56/56

Successful re-entries: 53/56

Successful landings: 47/56

Overall i love my S.A.E.V. <3 :D, Also pics and a .craft coming SOON!

Sounds ingenious, I want to see a picture or a .craft! I\'m not too great with understanding your text explaination but at least Jeb\'s got the gist. Gonna try the backwards=tricoupler idea.....

I made a rocket based off your inverted-tricoupler design:

It\'s a genius idea. The rocket handles like a dream and has almost all of the top stage\'s fuel left for orbital maneuvers, with no debris in orbit. I\'d love to see your .craft to compare them :)

Your ship is pretty much the same as mine except i have less RCS tanks on the top stage. :D
