It really depends on what you're looking to get out of the mods. My opinion is that Pathfinder is easier to transport and setup ground bases. MKS is better at orbital stations, but can be used for ground bases. The WildBlue and USI mods have different resources and converters, but play ok together. The two mods don't share converters, but you can store CRP resources with Pathfinder in CRP play mode. Both mods have a different philosophies on resource management and distribution. I find that WildBlue resource management makes more sense than USI. Be aware that Pathfinder is heavily dependent on KIS. Any changes to KIS can present as bugs in Pathfinder until it's updated.

I'm not sure if I'm a total idiot or not :rolleyes: I downloaded the example craft file from the tutorial on building a base on the Pathfinder wiki. The parts that are meant to be in the storage blocks don't appear to me there to build the base and I'm struggling to add parts to the storage container. Not sure what I'm missing. Sorry just looking for some guidance. I'm just starting to learn about this mod and I thought I would follow the tutorial on building a basic base but that just doesn't seem to work currently. 

I'm running in KSP 1.7.2. My log file is here. I hope it works and you can view it.

You're not an idiot - the wiki is out of date and so is the craft. Not to say that the data on the wiki is completely useless, just that some things have changed since it was first written. An update is on Angel's to-do list, IIRC. 

Here, try the TBD 7 rover; it's a little more up to date (built v.1.4, IIRC. Maybe 1.5). I don't recall if I put a KIS resource transfer station and connector port in it or not; if not, you'll want to add them in the SPH before heading out. Use them to inflate the initial Pondy, and whatever you do, don't save your game with them still connected to one another; you'll cast "Summon Kraken" if you do. The TBD 7 is largely the same craft from the wiki, just with a few more bells and whistles. I've got a Mun outpost right now that started from one of these.

If you still have issues, say so and I'll see if I can't guide you through them.

Thanks for that! I actually ended up getting pretty frustrated with it in the end. I managed to add parts to the container by res-assigning the storage away from storage and then assigning it back. Then the base plate blew up (KAS bug apparently it happens if you drop small parts??) and the snapping of the containers to the backplate just annoyed me too much. 

I will try again with this however, so thank you :)

Hey just replying to share the info I've gathered about continuing drill issues (on KSP 1.7.2).  I was having the issue with stock+buffalo drills not attaching in VAB and bugging it out; I saw you patched that so I updated to the latest, and this fixed the issue in VAB but I still couldn't launch those vehicles (it just returned me to space center).  After further investigation I was able to fix the stock drills by deleting the MM_Drills.cfg file in ModuleManagerPatches, then deleting the lines under "//Stock drill patches" at the bottom.  Of course I assume this removes capability to interact with gold strike nodes (which I honestly don't understand yet and haven't tried to find in any way so I'm not too concerned).  The buffalo drills that have the gold strike capability still bug out any vessel that I attempt to launch.  I'm currently trying to edit the buffalo drill cuz I love it's form factor and wanna use it.

I'm just sharing this info in case someone else has any trouble.  I'm using a number of mods such as Tac-LS, KIS, KAS, Tweakscale, Astronomers, Interstellar, DMagic, EL, Dangit, Near-Futures, SCANsat, RemoteTech, RealChute, Tarsier, PlanetaryBaseSomething, TextureReplacer, DistantObject, EVE, SuicidalInsanity's Stockalikes, Kerbal Atomics, number of other graphical mods, and some others I'm too lazy to list all.

The Saddle can be quite explosive - it's annoyed me on more than one occasion (the time it exploded on Gilly, and then took the Pondy with it - that time, I about rage quit; didn't because I was at on break my paying job at the time and I wanted to keep said paying job). There is a bit of advice on the wiki about not attaching it to the ground; it's 50/50 on how often that actually works.

First rule of Pathfinder - before you add anything, quicksave. If anything explodes, revert. Expect it to float afterwards...

Down here, you'll float too...:cool:

I guess my post got deleted when I edited it; well I'm not writing all that over again.  Just popping in to say that in KSP 1.7.2 with a lotta mods like Tac-LS, +a bunch I'm not listing again (thx forums) I was having continuing drill issues when using Pathfinder.  I saw that you patched it so I updated to the latest (Pathfinder 1.33.4), and this did fix the drill issue in the VAB.  However the vessels wouldn't launch and I would be returned to Space Center.  So I deleted MM_Drills.cfg in ModuleManagerPatches, and I deleted the lines under "stock drill patches" in the GoldStrikesomething.cfg in Resources.  This fixed the stock drills, but the buffalo drills and other WBI drills with stock gold strike functionality failed to launch vessels.  Those were easily remedied by marking out with // the bits in the part cfg related to pathfinder gold strike stuff.  Tbh I don't know what the gold strike functionality is yet, but if no one else has noticed this failing then it must be conflicting with some common mod.   Just sharing in case someone finds this info useful.

@Angel-125 ditto here. Still having bug out for any part that contains the wbiharvest module. This includes the lassos and the gold digger drill.  Here is a log excerpt from editor to flight switch up to when it aborts to space center:

@Angel-125  Not sure if it helps you out, but I've got some free time and good book, so I've been playing with cfgs to see if I could help figure out what's going on.  I went into GoldDigger.cfg and commented out the WBIGoldStrikeDrill and WBIGoldStrikeAsteroidDrill modules, and when I did, the game worked as advertised.  As soon as I uncommented WBIGoldStrikeDrill, I got the crash-to-space-center behavior.  I couldn't find any modules in the gold digger and the lasso that overlap that make sense, so my best guess is that WBIGoldStrikeDrill and WBIModuleResourceHarvester share some code, and wherever the overlap is, is probably causing the issue?  I dunno, I'm not a programmer, I'm just taking deductive guesses... hope that helps though, love your mods!

Anything I can do help track it down?  Sounds like I’m not the only one experiencing it...

I’m on MacOS running 1.7.2 with BG but not MH.  Verified from Github that I’m running the most current version of your mods. I have only Pathfinder and Buffalo, no BARIS or MOLE. 

I guess next step is to run just pathfinder and Buffalo alone and see if it persists?

Hm, your templates are giving you index out of range errors. Are you using CRP play mode? Or Classic Stock play mode?

I just checked and it says classic stock, but I have CRP installed.  Let me fix it and see if that changes anything...

Still dumping to space center when I add the drill. The out of range errors are gone from the log, but the exception on WBIModuleResourceHarvester persists. 

Edit: I didn’t do a full restart. Doing that now, I’ll let you know the results in about 20 mins.

Fresh install no other mods,  add a stock or pathfinder mod drill (or a other part with "inbuild drill mechanic") to the new craft, i cannot launch the vehicle

Back in the VAB i  can not properly select and edit any part

Need to restart the game.

As I said earlier, I'm having exactly the same issue with no other mods except KIS installed. On a fresh build, if I stick a hacienda on a girder, and save it.  It won't reload properly in the VAB, and is unlaunchable.  Doesnt seem to be a mod conflict issue unless it's with one of the squad expansions. Should be quite easy to replicate.

Hey @Angel-125, quick question about the Pipeline. Which configuration file corresponds to the old-style ground mass driver, Pipeline.cfg in the DeprecatedParts directory, or Pipeline2.cfg in the Parts/BoxedParts directory? I remember you were working on a revised ground mass driver model there for a while.

Been trying to figure out for days why I couldn't shoot more than half a tonne off of Eve with the maxKineticEnergy tweaked up high enough to get fifteen tonnes to a hundred-kilometer orbit - it's because I'd tweaked Pipeline2, not Pipeline, but from the data I'm getting from KML it looks like it's still coming from Pipeline.

If the mod is still referencing Pipeline.cfg, should it be referencing Pipeline2.cfg?

Myself, I just tweaked Pipeline.cfg. If I can suddenly shoot fifteen tonnes to Eve orbit, I'll certainly let you know about it.

Depends on which pipeline model is attached to your base. The new design has an octagonal concrete base and connector ports while the older model, which is in the deprecated folder, uses KAS to attach to your base.

I managed to trace the issue I was having with the Pipelines (I had adjusted the values for fifteen tonnes to a 100-kilometer Eve orbit in both configuration files but was not seeing any effect) to the persistence file - turns out the maxKineticEnergy values weren't being updated after I'd changed the value in the configuration files (i.e. I could've changed the config files to my heart's content and it would've accomplished nothing). It was necessary for me to manually update the values in the persistence file to the desired values (Notepad++ made this task much less daunting; KML failed me for once). I'm happy to report that things are working the way I want them to now.

Curiously enough, all 26 of my extant mass drivers (ground and orbital) turned out to still all be calibrated to the default KE values. Not sure why; I adjusted the config file for Eve weeks ago (and for 15-tonnes to 100-kilometers over Kerbin months ago). Of course, at the default value the maximum you can hope to send up to a 125-kilometer Eve orbit (3,147 m/s) is 0.597 tonnes, which is about what I was seeing.

I'm contracted to set up a ground base on Bop in the near future and I've got an orbital Pipeline-equipped space station going up over Gilly probably in my next game session, so I'll look at their values after I have that data available. If they're still showing the default values, I'll mention it. Meanwhile, I'm going to bask in the glory of having a fully-operational Pipeline network going at Eve...

Still dumping to space center when I add the drill. The out of range errors are gone from the log, but the exception on WBIModuleResourceHarvester persists. 

Edit: I didn’t do a full restart. Doing that now, I’ll let you know the results in about 20 mins. 

Just wanted to echo that I'm seeing this as well.  CRP mode for me.

I'm currently wishing I could turn off resources for deploying parts, as I have no way to make Koncrete without drills...

Go into Difficulty Settings. There are switches like that out there.

I spent quite a bit of time looking through the different settings.  There's one for not needing equipment to *reconfigure* parts, but I didn't see one (for WBI) that allowed me to *deploy* without resources.

Are you seeing the drill issue with the Hacienda/Claimjumper?

I noticed it with the GondoDrill, though I've had the same behavior before that I didn't identify at the time, and I can't remember what parts were on those ships.  I went through and removed WBIModuleResourceHarvester everywhere I could find it and the exact same ship could launch.
