Whyy?? I just happen to be in a region where a total lunar eclipse will occur, and here we had a clear sky all day. BUT NOW THERE ARE STUPID CLOUDS :(:(. WHY??

Seriously this the 4th time this year that weather ruined rare astronomical events for me...

We had some really heavy haze at around sundown, but for once no clouds.

They do that for solar eclipses for sure. Not sure about lunar eclipses, but there were tons of aircraft in the sky tonight, far more than usual, so I think that small plane owners at least use it as an excuse for some night flying...

Crystal clear sky since yesterday in the evening and no cloud in sight even now - but I only read about it this morning four hours after the event ... someone throw me an app or newsletter to "warn" me of such events beforehand in the future!

I live in the mid-atlantic states and I saw a little bit of it between the breaks in the clouds. All I ever got to see was red with a sliver of white, no fully-red moon, until the clouds really rolled in and it started raining. Still, I'm happy, usually it's raining, thunderstorming, or snowing when stuff like this happens, so this is actually a break from the norm.

I'm reasonably certain that most heavily inhabited areas are cloudy >50% of the time, hence the sky hating you during astronomical events.

@KerbMav: Try an amateur astronomy website or check wikipedia for eclipses and transits for the next few decades?

It's been cloudy here for the last four lunar eclipses. I haven't been able to see a real one since I was a kid.
