Is there a set of alternate textures for the Saturn boosters that has the historic livery (e.g. the UNITED STATES on the S-IC and the USA on the S-IVB tanks)?

I don't have the means to edit the .dds files directly, and converting them to png does not result in something that I think I have the graphic editing skill levels to know what to do with. I can easily enough change the .cfg files to point at new textures if someone can point me at the right tools to edit the textures myself.

There is a set of realistic Saturn textures in the BDB extras.

Thanks! I completely missed the Textures in the Extras.

I believe those texture were made before a lot of the significant touchups to the Saturn textures...

You could also try something like Nebula decals which adds decals as scaleable parts in game. You can easily add custom decals in the form of PNGs. Given that Cobalt has said the realistic ones in Extras are based on old textures it may be a better option.

Where might I find the new assets for realplume? Somehow I haven't been able to find them...

If you want the new custom realplumes meant for BDB, install RealPlume and Smokescreen as per usual and then install the dev branch of BDB from github. Keeping in mind that the dev branch contains work in progress stuff.

I think there might be problems with the TACLS patch in the BDB folder. Gemini is supposed to have 15 days endurance according to the patch yet the in-game screen only shows 2 and change?

yeah... they were quite different from the current set, and they were KSP/Kerbal States instead of USA/United States.

I was able to convert and modify the bluedog_saturnV texture set, but I have no means to write .dds files. Here is my .png that I now will be using.

I wanted to modify the S-IVB stage as well, but as the texture is mirrored, one side would always have a backwards S. For now, I'll leave that alone.

Thanks for the tips and advice.

The Gemini Crew capsule is commented out (//) in the BDB patch, presumably because it was historically never actually used for extended missions, so you're just seeing what TAC LS adds to every crewed capsule by default.  If you want to add more supplies you can either uncomment the line again or copy it to a separate MM patch of your own.

// Extra food for extended missions in the capsule, everything else in the service module.

// Extend food, CO2, and waste to 15 days.

Gemini 7 flew a longer mission than any Apollo until Skylab. Just short of 14 days. I totally spaced over the slashes in the patch. ON a related note, I'd like to learn how to customize some patches to add supplies to the LEM and mission modules. Can someone point me to some good tutorials?

Sure, no problem.

Is it preferable to use the master branch or the development branch for it?

The development branch, since there's a crap ton of new engines there and a bunch that have been removed.

EDIT: If someone else is looking for something to do, an optional patch that makes all the engines throttle realistically would be cool as well. :)

I would but don't have the time to do much but click like on the WIP shots. :/
