@Beccab How exactly is that thing even lifting off?

Surprisingly it has a TWR of 1.20 while still keeping a but of fuel for the SIVB lol, the upper tank is almost empty while the Thor stage is full. It can reach an astonishing 12 kilometers before running out of fuel in the first stage!

You know how there were ideas to put a Vanguard rocket on a Titan first stage and separately a Titan rocket on a Saturn first stage? Well why not combine it all and stack a full Vanguard, on a Titan first stage, on a Saturn I first stage (I really hope nobody even considered that in real life but wouldn't put it past the American space program to have thought of some close variation on that).

I realized a full titan would be slightly too insane.

Just wondering, is there plans for the saturn C-8 Nova, if not, maybe take that in mind as a suggestion

Cobalt’s said no to it a couple of times, but it probably won’t be yo hard to slap something together using the engines from mod and Near Future Launch  Vehicles 7m fuel tanks

I'm no saturn expert but thanks to the people in this thread I know that C-8 wasn't a NOVA

The Nova studies were just studies really.  There were at least two - one pre-Saturn and another post-Saturn focussed on manned Mars missions.  The Saturn C-series development concepts, that included C-8 for direct ascent to the moon, had nothing to do with either of the Nova studies, although the latter study considered Saturn-derived vehicles for obvious reasons given it was the biggest rocket around at the time.

Unfortunately there's quite a lot of confusion and misinformation on the interwebs  - most often due to images of the early pre-Saturn concepts being used to illustrate post-Saturn era Nova study and because the C-8 looks remarkably similar in profile to one of the later Nova concepts.

Since we're already introducing alternate history parts for Saturn, why not go ahead and implement Nova? It's always been chucked aside and rejected, but it wouldn't be a bad addition to an already great revamp.

The problem with that is which Nova do you choose? The Saturn C-8 aka Nova? The fictional C-8 Nova? One of the 50 super large Novas?  There's also the fact that Cobalt has said no many times.

The Nova rocket family would need an entire update for themselves if we're being honest imo. And that's even if we could convince Cobalt or any of the others in the BDB team to take the project on.  It probably just be best to kit bash mods together to make the Nova rockets.

Post Saturn Novas are absolutely ludicrous launch vehicles, having nothing in common with Saturn and make Saturn look small (and this is just one of about 20 Novas depicted in a Martin Study, also please note that the RR means that both stages are recoverable).
