How can i hack mk1 to hold 2 kerbals?

I love the mk1 lander can for my non atmosphere landers, I just want it to hold two kerbals

in gamedata/squad/parts/command/mk1landercan , I edited the mk1landercan file to CrewCapacity = 2

In the VAB/SPH I do get the option to choose two kerbals. In flight i only see one kerbal, no option to EVA or IVA (dont care about IVA anyway I never use it)

If I click on the hatch I get the option to EVA or transfer either kerbal, but I can only EVA one kerbal at a time. sure I can switch back and forth I guess but that is not good enough.

There must be another file that sets the mk1landercan paramiters to 1 kerbal.

Also on a side note, In the parts selection I get two mk1 cans, one with 1 capacity and another with 2 capacity.

Where else do i edit for this to work?

Easiest thing I found that solved the problem of a compact lander can that can hold 2 Kerbals was to download the ALCOR mod. It's a good looking capsule, and 9 times out of 10 I will use it in place of the MkI lander.

The issue with the IVA is that you need an IVA to have a crew capacity of two as well. You can edit the config to have the internal of the Mk2 can.

Change

INTERNAL
{
name = landerCabinSmallInternal
}

To

INTERNAL
{
name = landerCabinInternals
}

Also make sure to back up the original can. If you're going to have two of the same thing make sure that you change the name to something very original.

name = landerCabinSmall

To

name = MyTwoKerbalPod
