Ok, I just noticed the "<user> likes this" appearing on posts... I will therefore be giving ZERO likes, (whatever this "like" thing is), sorry 'bout that. Missing the old rep system already.

Add the button to your adblocker, poof. It's actually a pretty convenient way of removing parts of any website.

'tis not the point, I know it's still there.

Oh yeah, and I want my BBCode back.

Quick question about the new "follow" mechanic.

I saw that my subscriptions to threads of the old forum were ported to the new forum.

After I have updated the settings to get my daily notifications, now all the subscriptions seem to be lost and gone: On my "Manage Followed Content" page I only get a "There's nothing here yet" text.

Is there an easy way to recreate my list of followed threads or is that something temporary that will get sorted out by itself?

Good job working so hard on the migration.

Although it works a little different, it still somewhat feels the same.

I encountered a problem quickly though. The devnotes are gibberish for me. Almost like they are displayed in raw html or something.

A sample of the first few lines as displayed on my screen:

Kerbal Space Program is a labor of love, and we want to see the game all it possibly can be. In the case of update 1.1, three weeks of QA & experimentals just wouldn’t do justice to the quality of the game we aim for if you consider that nearly all areas of the game have been updated in some way.

I have exactly the same problem :( I had ~80 subscriptions half an hour ago. Now I have none...

Obviously there will be some problems to fix on such a massive overhaul, but, I'm kind of liking the new uncluttered look.

This is anything but uncluttered. It's improved since I turned signatures off & hid avatars, but look at the percentage of space taken by post content vs percentage taken by either useless whitespace or other random parts of the forum.

  • [No Fix] Because thread and post IDs were reset, old links will not work.

This should have been a non-starter for selecting IPS. How on earth did you guys manage to select a new forum software that couldn't migrate URLs properly?

Maintaining inbound links with regards to search engines and external blogs and websites should have been the highest priority item in your evaluation. Now, all Google searches are going to lead to 404 errors. That's really stupid.

Also, there seems to be something weird with the text font. Is it bold by default or something ?

Woohoo! I think we all owe Kasper a round of pats on the back for killing it this weekend upgrading it all. :)

It's definitely a stick in the mud, but Google should update its indexes soon enough and other sights will cache them soon enough.

I hate to be Mr Negativity but i have no forum subscriptions I had 3 pages or more of subs all disappeared, lots of complaints about threads that are broken, 502 errors constantly killing me, would it have been better to run the old forums and the new ones in parallel  maybe lock off creating new posts in the old forums and create a test link for the new ones. Because from where i sit there are lots of unhappy campers, is there a possibilty of rolling back to the old forums.

Running them in parallel really isn't an option when you consider that whichever way you ultimately choose to go some content on the other forum would be lost. I've updated the first post: in order to fix the 502 errors we've had to remove the follows which is very unfortunate - but the forums are working like a dream now.

How am I supposed to  find 3 pages of subscriptions when i have nothing to reference for the threads i was following

Is it possible you can produce a list for each member so we can find those threads and resub

Requiring thousands of web pages and blog posts to be manually updated is more than a stick in the mud. It should have got IPS rejected from your evaluation process.

Also, the reply/quote process seems to be broken in the Wysiwyg editor. It seems to get stuck on the previous quote that I replied to... Grrr...

Thanks for letting us know. Is it possible to retreive a list of the threads that I had a subscription for in the old forum?

What, exactly, would have been lost on the old forums by locking them in read-only mode?

"Working like a dream" is a very subjective opinion.

I was the author of a thread that was basically a "share your education" encouragement page, but now it is gone. Luckily I did save a copy of it. I am going to reserve my comments on the new platform until I have fully had the opportunity to become accustomed to it.

First, you take all the fun out of this place by getting us to agree to new conditions... I'd too afraid to even fart lest I get banned... I mean, I'm only human, I'm not a robot!!!

They're the same as before aren't they? I didn't notice any changes, though for all I know Squad could have sneaked something in. I think it's just that as far as IPS is concerned it's the first time we've logged in.

Anyway, the gist was: WYSIWYG editor is a pain.  I always turned it off, especially for editing the initial post of a mod thread to help with making things responsive enough that I could be sure that it was updating properly AND so that I could be sure that the formatting was right because I could see where the BB code markers ended.  I have no control over this anymore, and frankly, that's a huge step backwards.  Not to mention all the links that are busted.

+1 to this. According to IPS https://community.invisionpower.com/topic/417407-ips-40-the-current-state-of-bbcode-and-its-future-is-bbcode-officially-abandoned/ "IPS4 supports BBCode and we have no intention to remove that in the foreseeable future". I can see how Squad would think a wysiwyg editor will attract newcomers, though I would note that people are now familiar with sites like Facebook that offer no formatting at all, but a lot of the existing membership prefer the BBCodes. Heck, just making that link behave required silly non-obvious workarounds, otherwise the rest of my post would have been treated as part of the URL after I pasted it. A task trivial in BBCode made idiotic in WYSIWYG.
