Eloquent Spacecraft Systems 1.2.x Modpack

This is the collection of mods that I use in my long-term 1.2.x career. They are required to make all of my 1.2.x vehicles function, or give them a location to function, or simply make them look better.

 

Dependencies

Mods that are required for other mods to function.

  • Module Manager 2.7.4 - required for everything
  • B9 Part Switch 1.5.1 - part switching mod, required for some Near Future mods
  • Coherent Contracts (unknown version) - required for several contract mods
  • Community Category Kit 0.1.2.0 - required for Planetary Base Systems
  • Community Resource Pack 0.6.3.0 - adds in shared resources that are used by several mods
  • Contract Configurator 1.20.2.0 - required for several contract mods
  • CTTP (unknown version; included in OPM download) - textures folder for Outer Planets Mod
  • Deployable Engines (unknown version; included in Cryogenic Engines or Kerbal Atomics download) - required for several engines from Cryogenic Engines and Kerbal Atomics
  • Firespitter 7.4.1 - fuel switching mod
  • Interstellar Fuel Switch 2.2.8.0 - fuel switching mod
  • Kopernicus (unknown version) - required for all planet-altering mods
  • Modular Flight Integrator 1.2.2.0 - required for Kopernicus
  • Wild Blue Tools 1.8.7 (included in Buffalo and M.O.L.E downloads) - required for Buffalo and M.O.L.E

Planets

Planet packs, as well as things which affect planets.

  • Duna Restoration Project (unknown version) - brings back the appearance of Duna from early versions of KSP
  • Outer Planets Mod 2.0.0.0 - adds 3 gas giants, a dwarf planet, and several moons
  • Sigma Binary 1.6.0.0 - allows for binary planetary systems (in the case of this pack, that means Plock-Karen from OPM)
  • Sigma Dimensions 0.6.3.0 - allows for rescaling of celestial bodies (used for my custom Eve config - see below)
  • Xen's Planet Collection (unknown version) - adds two new planets with moons, as well as making some changes to Eve, Duna, and Eeloo (or Plock-Karen with OPM installed)

Parts

  • Buffalo MSEV 0.9.8 - adds a set of very configurable rover/spacecraft parts
  • Color Coded Cannisters 1.5.1 - adds different texture options for fuel tanks
  • Colorful Fuel Lines 0.3.2 - adds color switching to fuel lines
  • Cryogenic Engines 0.4.3.0 - adds very efficient engines fueled by liquid hydrogen and oxidizer
  • Cryo Tanks (unknown version; included in Cryogenic Engines or Kerbal Atomics download) - adds insulated tanks for storing liquid hydrogen
  • DMagic Orbital Science 1.3.0.6 - adds a large amount of science equipment
  • Fuel Tanks Plus 1.11.0 - adds new types of fuel tank; works with CCC textures
  • Heat Control 0.3.4.0 - adds a lot of new radiator types
  • Kerbal Atomics 0.3.3.0 - overhauls stock nuclear engine and adds several new options for nuclear thermal propulsion
  • Lithobrake Exploration Technologies 0.4.0 - adds a lot of heavy lander parts
  • Mark One Laboratory Extensions (M.O.L.E.) 1.3.6.4 - adds a large selection of parts based on NASA's Gemini program
  • Mk2 Expansion (unknown version) - adds a huge amount of useful parts for the Mk2 part size
  • Mk3 Expansion (unknown version) - adds a huge amount of useful parts for the Mk3 part size
  • Modular Pod Extensions (unknown version) - adds extensions to the Mk1-2 command pod
  • Modular Rocket Systems 1.13.0 - adds a large selection of parts for various purposes
  • Near Future Construction 0.7.2.0 - adds trusses and other parts that are useful for spacecraft and base construction
  • Near Future Electrical 0.8.2.0 - adds reactors, capacitors, and other advanced electrical parts
  • Near Future Props (version unknown; included in relevant Nertea mod downloads) - IVAs for various mods by Nertea
  • Near Future Propulsion 0.8.2.0 - adds advanced electric propulsion
  • Near Future Solar 0.7.1.0 - adds advanced solar power generation
  • Near Future Spacecraft 0.5.4.0 - adds several command pods and other parts that are useful for building crewed spacecraft
  • Planetary Base Systems 1.3.5 - adds a lot of specialized parts for building surface bases
  • SpaceY Heavy Lifters 1.15.0; SpaceY Expanded 1.3.1 - adds a lot of parts mainly designed for the construction of enormous rockets
  • Stockalike Mining Expansion (unknown version) - adds in several parts to expand the existing ISRU system
  • Stockalike Station Parts Expansion 0.4.2.0 - adds in a variety of parts that are useful for building space stations
  • Surface Experiment Package (unknown version) - adds several KAS/KIS-based surface experiments which gather science data over time
  • Universal Storage 1.2.1.0 - adds various small part sections for compacting a spacecraft service module
  • Vx Series II Engine Pack (unknown version) - adds a lot of stockalike rocket engines for both atmospheric and vacuum use

Utilities

  • CapCom 1.0.2.5 - adds a more versatile contract window
  • Community Tech Tree 3.0.2.0 - rebalances the tech tree in order to make it more challenging
  • Contracts Window Plus 1.0.7.0 - adds a contract window with the ability to accept contracts outside of Mission Control
  • Editor Extensions Redux 3.3.10.0 - extremely helpful mod that improves functionality of the vehicle editors in the VAB and SPH
  • Final Frontier 1.2.5.2906 - adds personal achievements for kerbals
  • GPO Speed Fuel Pump 1.8.6.0 - highly configurable automatic fuel pumping mod
  • Hide Empty Tech Tree Nodes (unknown version) - hides CTT nodes that do not have parts assigned to them
  • Kerbal Alarm Clock 3.8.0.0 - adds configurable alarms to remind the player of various things (such as maneuver nodes or transfer windows)
  • Kerbal Attachment System 0.0.6.0; Kerbal Inventory System 0.1.3.0 - gives kerbals inventories and the ability to manipulate spacecraft whilst on EVA
  • Kerbal Joint Reinforcement 3.3.1 - fixes connections between parts (autostrut and rigid attachment can do this now in 1.2.x but KJR removes the need to consciously turn those on for each part)
  • MechJeb2 2.5.9 - adds in a lot of utilities, such as delta-v information, orbit information, and various autopilot functions
  • SpaceTux Contract Packs (Grand Tours 0.1.10.2, Rover Missions 0.1.6.1, Unmanned Contracts 0.3.27.0) - adds contracts for various things
  • Trajectories 1.6.3.0 - predicts an estimated trajectory following atmospheric entry
  • TRP-Hire 0.6.1 - improves the kerbal hiring system in the Astronaut Complex
  • [x] Science 5.1.0 - science checklist mod

Other

Custom Eve Config. A custom file that uses Sigma Dimensions to rescale Eve to 0.8x its usual size, making it more like Venus. The file is a .cfg file that is placed in the GameData folder and contains the following code:

Also, @Adam.A I don't know if it's the same mod, but there's a very similar mod called Cx Aerospace that adds somewhat stock-styled ISS parts, and that one does function for KSP 1.2.x.

Low end Macbook Modpack [1.2.2](WIP)

I play KSP on a low-end Macbook Air with 1.4GHz Intel i5 and 4G RAM so performance is essential to me. I hope this modpack can help people who wants a range of parts while still keeping their game from becoming a slideshow. Note that not all mods are up to date but they all function relatively well in 1.2.2.

Dependencies can be found in their respective posts, or install with CKAN. The CKAN mod list is here. Note not all mods on CKAN are in the list below because...I don't know, just deal with it. Also, Ven's Stock Revamp is not on the ckan file so make sure you download that!

 

Parts

  • Stock Part Revamp 1.9.5: Probably the most important mod for this mod pack, it overhauls all stock parts and uses its own texture. Better still, you can use the pruner bundled with the mod to stop stock textures from loading, which lowers the RAM usage. Overall this mod has very little effect on performance and I believe if I can run it, you can too!
  • KRE - Kerbal Reusability ExpansionLanding legs, grid fins, SuperDraco engines, deployable wings and so on, SpaceX-style. One of the mods that I install every KSP update.
  • Mk2 Expansion v1.7.35: New engines, air intakes, and fuselage segments and cockpits in the mk2 formfactor, to give players more options when building spaceplanes and more. All textures are stock textures where possible, using MODEL nodes, so RAM footprint should be minimal.
  • DMagic Orbital Science: New Science Parts v1.3.8: New science parts for all your science/career needs!
  • SCANsat v16.11Real Scanning, Real Science, at Warp Speed! Allows you to scan the surfaces of planetary bodies to produce various kinds of maps and mine relatively small amounts of sweet, juicy, 110% fresh-squeezed science!
  • Tundra Exploration v0.9Stockalike Dragon V2 and Falcon 9, perfect with KRE!
  • RealChute Parachute Systems v1.4.1.2: Complete rework of the stock parachute module to fix a few of its inconveniences and get more realistic results out of parachutes!
  • Procedural Parts v1.2.5ProceduralParts allows you to procedurally generate a number of different parts in a range of sizes and shapes. You'll need to find a community fix for this to work in 1.2.2.
  • Procedural Fairings 3.20: Fairings that automatically reshape for any attached payload. Saves a lot of work!

 

Utilities/ Gameplay

  • Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.2.8: Award winning information tool for all the data you'll ever need!
  • Kerbal Alarm Clock v3.8.4.0The Kerbal Alarm Clock is a plugin that allows you to create reminder alarms at future periods to help you manage your flights and not warp past important times.
  • KSP Alternate Resource Panel v2.9.1.0: The KSP Alternate Resource Panel is a plugin to the Kerbal Space program game and was created to provide me an alternate view of the resources list and also add some staging functionality to the map view. 
  • State Funding Continued: StateFunding is a Mod that tries to reward you for doing things you want to do. You can choose between several governments that have different play styles. Each quarter (106 Days) you will receive a review for that quarter and be paid out (or fined) depending on your performance.
  • Strategia v1.5.0: Strategia is a revamp to Kerbal Space Program's strategy system.  All the stock strategies are removed, and replaced with new and unique strategies. It's just great!
  • TweakScale v2.3.4: TweakScale lets you change the size of a part. Not just that, but it will figure out how much fuel is in the resized part. And if it's an engine, it will become more powerful by scaling it bigger, or weaker by scaling it smaller.
  • [x] Science!: Keeps track of the science experiments you have completed and recovered to Kerbal Space Center. No matter what game scene you are in, what your current vehicle is, [x] Science! always reports on all science held anywhere.
  • Kerbal Space Transport System: The Kerbal Space Transport System (or KSTS) will allow you to record launches of your transport rockets and planes to be used in automated missions later. It will allow you to transfer resources, crew-members and even deploy brand new ships directly into orbit.
  • Flight Manager for Reusable Stages (FMRS): FMRS lets you jump back and forth in time. So you can launch your mission into space, then jump back in time to the separation and have full control over your dropped vessels. It's all about the SpaceX style!
  • StageRecovery v1.7.0: This mod allows funds to be recovered, at a reduced rate, from dropped stages so long as they have parachutes attached (not necessarily deployed). Works great with FMRS!
  • Part Commander Continued: Consolidates all the right-click menus from parts on the active vessel into a single interface (with the optional ability to "pop off" selected parts into their own windows if you wish).
  • Trajectories v1.6.6: The mod displays trajectory predictions, accounting for atmospheric drag, lift, etc. Works with the stock aerodynamic model, and also with Ferram Aerospace Research (FAR).
  • Stock Antenna Balance: Adjusts the range, power usage and other attributes of the stock antennas and how they function. This makes it much more important to use a mix of direct and relay antennas to communicate with Kerbin's Deep Space Network (DSN).
  • All Y'All Continued: The one-stop, one-click extend and retract solution.
  • Dated QuickSaves: Automatic quicksaves!!
  • Navball docking alignment indicator v2: This will add a new Marker to the Navball to show if you are aligned with the targeted Docking port. (You can also tell the targets rotation by it if you need it) and this will save you lot of fiddeling and switching back and forth to double and triple check. It really is just a minimalistic mod and yet so useful!
  • ABookCase Orbital Reference System 0.4.1.0:  A simple mod that displays altitude of an orbit at a point by hovering the mouse over it.
  • Landing Height: Show distance from bottom of your vessel to ground. Simply essential.

 

Visual/ Sound

  • ShipEffects Sound Mod: Dynamic Sound Effects v1.0.3: Hear your spaceship rattle as you reenter! Scroll to the bottom of the post for community fixes!
  • Chatterer v.0.9.92: Hear your Kerbals talk and your probes beep!
  • Audio Muffler Redux v2.3: Make game sounds feel more realistic by muffling them as the air around your vessel gets less dense. I suggest you edit the config so that you can still hear stuff outside IVA. Because, let's be honest, it's not like we can run RasterPropMonitor.
  • Engine Lighting v1.5: Lights your engines and your decouplers up! It's simply beautiful!!

If you have a better laptop than I do but still not good enough to use all the heavy enhancements, I suggest below
