[1.6.0] Extrasolar v1.8.0 [12/21/18]

Recommended Posts

I’ve installed this mod and all seems to be working but I’m having difficulty getting there as conics are pretty much useless at this range.

I quite like a challenge so I don’t mind the fact that it is so far away but it won’t let me calculate how to get there.

When I create a manoeuvre node rather than the conic extending out to the orbit of Valentine it just stops somewhere past the orbit of Jool.

Any tips on how to get around this, I have looked at other mods but nothing seems to say it fixes this problem.

The mod didn’t really fix the problem but it did make it easier for me to find a solution.

Basically it is so far away and moving so slowly relative to Kerbol that you just need to aim and it and burn for a couple of hours.

I must say, this mod has made me feel, for the first time ever, that I truly was landing on an alien planet. I was descending down on Deemo and due to the thick atmosphere, I decided to burn hard with my air breathing engines and nose dive down into the moon to reach the surface faster. Once I broke through the cloud layer, I had to jump up and take manual control to steer my ssto clear of the mountains. I was startled and the world looked strange, I felt a tingle of wonder, curiosity, fear and joy like I never have before in KSP. I genuinely felt like I was actually coming down on an alien planet in real life. I was thrilled. Landing and exploring Deemo made me feel like I was truly on an alien world like never before. It made me be really happy that I had made my ssto be vtol capable. I found a strange sea that I hypothesis was once alive but all the water evaporated and that all the bacteria clumped into this sea that later died. It is truly an alien world. Magnificent, and good work on an amazing mod. My only issue is that you can get to Valentine in 100 years on an ideal trajectory and 35 if you slingshot around the sun like I did and that Valentine orbits like a planet, but I guess that all makes it easier for you the mod maker..

Thank you so much. I love to hear that people are enjoying this mod, given the amount of time I've dedicated to it! Deemo is by far my favorite planet/moon in Extrasolar.

It is very ideal for a base, low gravity, thick oxygen rich atmosphere, rich to explore, lovely small system to explore since it's around a gas giant, the only other place that I deem slightly better is the sandy planet

You mean Solyth? Honestly I think it's one of the least interesting ones.

I just installed this mod and must say I am very impressed. Though I am still quite new to KSP and it will be a while before I venture there, its kinda nice to see it sit there in the sky waiting for me.

I have a question regarding the asterpid belt though. I installed the customasteroids but don't see a belt. Does it have to be discovered or should it be visible? Does it sit between Valentine and Heba or somewhere  between the orbits of two planets?

I don't want to unnecessarily uninstall a mod if I don't understand what I should see so I am asking first.

Thanks, and again, amazing looking mod.

It seems I figured out the asteroids follow the same rules spawning like the ones in the kerbol system. So you simply meant there will be asteroids with the asteroid mod installed.

No, they don't follow the same rules. Asteroids should form a belt of asteroids around Valentine with custom asteroids installed. It's hard to see that it is actually an Asteroid belt if you haven't tracked many of Valentine's asteroids, however.

you can have my SSTO VTOl if you want,  just look up MockingJay on KerbalX, there are 10 versions, note, the RCS should be replaced with stock RCS if u want to dock, it's an error I found late

I absolutely love this mod, but I'm having an issue with the visuals with this mod, despite having the latest version of scatterer and EVE, all of the new planets still don't seem to have any clouds or improved atmospheres. Any help?

Nevermind, for some reason I forgot to put the "EVO" file in, silly me.

Hey there,

i love this mod and i use it in conjunction with Astronomer's Visual Enhancement.
It looks outstanding with it.

There is only one Problem that i dont get figured out and need help with. It's LOMINA's Rings.
They are black only. Can somebody help me with this issue?

Astronomer's Visual Enhancement is taking use of EVE and Scatterer, i hope they don't
interfere somehow with LOMINA's Rings. I dont want to miss Astronomer's VE
because it is the best visual mod i know atm. Any suggestions or help would be
highly appreciated.

best regards

Do Lomina's rings go back to normal if you uninstall Astronomer's? Make sure you are using the latest version of Kopernicus as well.

Hi

just removed Astronomer's Visual Enhancer and the Problem is still there.

https://imgur.com/NnKCP6y

Kopernikus is up to date as well all the other mods.
All mods are installed via CKAN and updated.

regards.

Did you install Extrasolar with CKAN? Do NOT install Extrasolar with CKAN.

Done. But still only black rings for LOMINA. Same for Optional folder install too.

Somehow it looks like this is unsolveable. Rings on GPP for instance worked fine.
But i am not into modding and dont know wich files to look into. Since Both GPP
and Extrasolar is using EVE.

regards

UPDATE: I just found some more graphical bugs and i can point out Extrasolar EVE settings as the source.
The Clouds of Kerbal stay dark on fly through and in orbit, my vessel is dark as if i fly on the dark side of
Kerbal, but the sun is up and should shine on my vessel. So i tried to switch mods that use EVE and reinstall
etc. but as soon as i install Extrasolar the Lominar Rings are dark, and the same happens with clouds
and vessels. Manualy installing Extrasolar as last mod does not help either. Sadly i ended up removing
Extrasolar from my mod list and i hope this graphic glitch gets fixed some day so i can enjoy this Planetary mod.

kind regards,

MKev

Okay well I can tell you right now that this is not an issue with Extrasolar that needs fixing and seems to be an issue with how you installed it. Give me this information:

1) The version of Scatterer you are using

2) The version of Kopernicus you are using.

3) The version of Extrasolar you are using

4) Your KSP version

5) Screenshot of your gamedata folder

6) Link to output log on Dropbox.

2) The version of Kopernicus is the latest: Kopernicus 1.3.1-3

6) I can not provide any output log any longer since i switched from Extrasolar to OPM by Galileo88
with same scatterer, same EVE, same Kopernicus version and same Modset as Listed below without
any issues. :) I have several other Blank installations of KSP 1.3.1 with minimal modset and can
continue testing on this matter if u wish.
But i never used output logs and need advise were to find them or how to produce them.

A friend of mine just checked Extrasolar on his modset and has the same issues btw.

7) My actual Campaign runs with Kerbal + OPM + Enhanced OPM Visuals on the same Mods that
i used with Extrasolar and it Looks like this:

Well considering I have an install of Extrasolar with all necessary mods and the bare necessities for testing purposes and it works 100% as intended, I can guarantee this is either a problem with how you installed it, or maybe even incorrect instructions on my part. I'll get back to you in a bit.

Please make sure you still have this problem with just Extrasolar, EVO and only the necessary mods installed.
