Valentine is supposed to be in a binary system with Kerbol, so it wouldn't make sense for it to be super far out. That's why I brought it much closer.

I'm just curious, why do you not recommend downloading via CKAN? ((I have no problem downloading from the links provided. I'm just wondering:unsure:)

Sometimes CKAN installs Extrasolar incorrectly. Maybe in the future I'll support using CKAN.

I'm not planning in adding any new planets into Extrasolar.

Do a thread search for "mov Valentine" (yes, missing e is on purpose) and it should search for move or moving Valentine...  I think.....

@AndrewDrawsPrettyPictures Actually I downloaded from Spacedock and Github, to compare again if everything is in order or if I get confused ... :D

The Spacedock download includes the 'High' textures preset
, but with a slightly difference to the Github download of the 'High' package:

  • GameData\Extrasolar_Textures\EVE\joolCloudsHigh.dds
  • GameData\Extrasolar_Textures\EVE\joolCloudsLow.dds

These both files have 4096x2048 resolution in the Github package and 4000x2000 resolution in the Spacedock full package.

  • GameData\Extrasolar\EVO\EVO_EVE\
  • GameData\Extrasolar\EVO\EVO_scatterer\

these both folders are empty or contain empty folders - it seems they're remains of the old structure because everything moved to Extrasolar_EVO.

And my personal opinion about still not using the Kopernicus useOnDemand and useManualMemoryManagement - it could be done like that if the subfolder GameData\Extrasolar_Textures\EVE would not be there:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the contents of GameData\Extrasolar_Textures\EVE * would be moved to GameData\Extrasolar\EVE so that only the folder GameData\Extrasolar_Textures\PluginData ** remains, this could be a good use of Kopernicus useOnDemand and useManualMemoryManagement ... just my two cents.

** which is part of the core package

I will just do a personal test run:

  1. I moved the folder 'EVE' from GameData\Extrasolar_Textures\ to GameData\Extrasolar\
  2. I replaced all instances of the corresponding folder inside the *.cfg files inside GameData\Extrasolar_EVO\ and GameData\Extrasolar_SVO\ with Notepad++ in a batch.
  3. I created a new file GameData\Extrasolar\Patches\Extrasolar_KopernicusSettings.cfg with the patch in the code block above.

Not really, but I guess I have a lot less RAM usage after I just changed it for my personal test ... :P

still on 9.4 GB used RAM for KSP_x64.exe, nearly the same as after I did the TAB switch test ...

Yeah I just totally forgot that you have to do that whole "useOnDemand = true" thing for it to work. I'm dumb :D

I'm still having issues with Fust being covered in all ocean. I used the cheat "set Orbit" Fust, my vessel was at 543045 or 67251m. The Ocean looks to be a few thousand feet in the air.  While you are zooming out, you can see the transition to the scaled version. It looks like Fust has an atmosphere when you do this, but it is the ocean(Do not have EVE installed). I used my fust patch and it makes the ocean work with no problems as far as I can tell(Only did one suicide burn into it today). I did sample the ocean color from the fust_scaled.dds, it comes in a bit brighter blue, but it is nice for me.

Good catch. Not very many people have taken a good look at my code before so it is definitely appreciated that you and @Barar are helping me find and solve some if these problems for me. Thanks!

@Barar I forgot to mess around with Fust's problems before releasing the update. It shouldn't take that long to solve, along with the other issues, so I'll likely release a small little update this week solving those things.

I just put up a patch version that didn't have the better looking ocean mod with it to avoid confusion and simplify it for others since I posted it to the forum thread. Both are perfectly valid and will work. 

The patch itself is a bit messy with all the %, don't really need them. Could probably just do a !Ocean{} then re-add the ocean. But it was a quick config I made up. Since I had actually modified the Fust.cfg itself but didn't want to redistribute it since its not my work. Also moved the :FINAL to the end since it looks better, didn't make a difference game wise as far as I know.

Ahh I'm jealous I didn't catch this. Maybe @AndrewDrawsPrettyPictures will add an error so we can find them.

 

I am wondering why the fust_height.dds is 4800 x 2400 instead of 4096 x 2048. Any reason to not use power of 2 for texture compression?

I hope I wasn't stepping on any toes, just used BLO on SVT and OPM. Since the ocean wasn't working on Fust. I just kinda threw it in troubleshooting wise to get the ocean working properly for me, until it was fixed.

Thought I would leave it up to Andrew to request it, since it is his Planet Pack.
