Strange texture effect depending on sun rays.

I'm having this strange effect on the hull. What can I do about it? I made the parts and a very simple texture myself, and paint everything with KerbPaint. Has it got something to do with the model? Maybe increase some kind of filtering in Unity?

Maybe it helps if you click the image, then click "full size" and zoom in.

Im not exactly sure which of the surface effects seen here are the strange effect mentioned. As there are two seperate things i can see in the picture. The first is an even surface shader effect that looks a lot like it comes from a tiling normalmap. The second are some crossing dark lines. The first could be from some unintentional normalmap being applied the second looks like it could be uv mapping bases artifacts.

I can't (or rather: isolate) see the "real" problem, too, as everything COULD be "by design". The dark lines could be missing or too little UV edge padding, or z-fighting if the deck consists of clipped parts or the effect i noticed here: in my thread "Quick Tip: Strange visible mesh edges (no UV Problem) on meshes with modelled interior."
