Hmm... Everyone has such high expectations. The trick is to not expect too much otherwise you're going to be disappointed, no matter how nice the news is.

What we do know so far:

1) 1.1 is not being released (source: they haven't had experimentals yet)

2) 1.1 is not going into experimentals (source: @KasperVld said they're not quite ready for that, in this very thread)

3) All the pitchforks have sold out worldwide. Stop panic-buying, people.

At last! I missed this! *Grabs own pitchfork, pointing menacingly at Kasper*

Hahahahaha! I don't mind the devnotes coming one day later, this entry in the Daily Kerbal is amusing enough to keep me going for a day... that, and I've got an Eve mission planned... fingers crossed...

The IP address you're looking for is 127.0.0.1. And we're not quite at experimentals yet :)

I think they just need to go to sleep sometimes :)

Sorry to interrupt the annual pitchfork enthusiasts meeting...

But what exactly are experimentals...?

Experimentals are just another step in the software development/testing process that SQUAD uses.  It is the step between QA and Release where the software version goes from being tested by the QA group to being tested by a larger group called the Experimentals group.

Basically, to any normal player of KSP, Experimentals just means we're 1 step closer to the new release.  In the past Experimentals have lasted around 2 weeks IIRC.  It sometimes takes longer is game breaking bugs are found, but Experimentals is usually the point where the player base starts getting excited and ramped up for the new release.  It is also the point where @GregroxMun generally starts the Hype Train rolling.

Torces and pitchforks are preferable to tarring and feathering.

OK, I'll save that in case of KSP 1.1 performance doesn't meet our unrealistic Wackjobian expectations.

This is a bit old now but most of the info is still correct with the notable exception that the experimentals phase generally lasts longer than a week (usually between 2 and 3 weeks but it depends on how many, and how serious, problems are found).
