Hi,

I am looking for someone experienced with Unity and Blender to give me a few suggestions to an issue I am having with my animations breaking when imported to Unity.

This help will result in a new mod. Credit will be given for the help given.

Thanks

Generally speaking, you could just post your issue (with screenshots) and people have a good chance of replying right away.

At any rate, you need to be using Unity 4.2.2 and import the animations using the 'Legacy' animation option. If that's not the issue, post more info so people can see.

Here's a couple pictures. Modelling and animating crawler tracks as my first work might have been ambitious but I feel I've made pretty good progress. If you can give any tips please do so.

Thanks

Ah i see you have the crawler parts from KSO, animating the tracks is definitely the hard way to do it. Also just animating the tracks will not make it move, for that you'd need a wheel collider setup driven by the idler wheels.  KF used a texture animator in conjunction with wheel colliders to give the impression that the track moved , the track mesh itself is static apart from moving with the suspension, it doesn't actually rotate.  Another thing to be aware of is that there is no way to have two tracks driven on the same base, not without a plugin, you can separate the tracks to individual; units and place them on the bogie though and that works.

As for the animation issue , it looks to me as though you didn't centre and zero all your transforms before animating the part, although it very difficult to tell from the image what is actually wrong apart from a misplaced mesh, maybe a little video or gif would help to illustrate your issues more clearly

One last thing, as it goes the tracks are one of the hardest parts to make and get working correctly I have ever made and they are certainly not a project I'd recommend to somebody starting out or with little familiarity with unity.

But it can be done

weapons testing yesterday, note whats being used to carry them
