There are always these arguments 'can't do that with (insert era) technology'. For working with steel, some of the methods to make things from it today are actually hammer and anvil, powered ones, but still the same method.

The point is, you bring all that knowledge with you. If you aren't allowed to use todays technology, you will of course not go to space.

Would it be possible to have all the needed materials in a decade or three ?

I'm still optimistic that it could be done 1-2000 years ago.
