Sandbox Universe(2) + KSP

What if KSP made it possible to use Sandbox universe2 style of creating Solar systems and then using that as your world to live in, you can choose everything.

Or better yet, making ksp allow files that can be made in sandbox universe or other programs, then importing it into the save file and run it as the map of the solar system.

Obviously it would be heavy on the game, but having terrain deformation would be cool too!

What are your thoughts? (P.S. CAN'T WAIT FOR 1.1)

Terrain deformation is done by the game's engine. Importing a map from another game wouldn't magically give KSP the power to do that. (Nor could it's already over taxed physics calculations stand for such a huge additional strain if it could.)

Plenty of mods currently exist for making custom planets, as well as entire custom systems. Not sure what this would add that isn't already being done?

I would certainly support stock custom planets, but using some other game to generate them and then importing them sounds messy and complicated assuming it's even possible or practical.

Yeah that probably wont be very doable..

But at least some interesting part about universe sandbox 2 is that not only do they use the same unity engine, but one of the devs also used to work on KSP for quite some time before he was hired by the company behind universe.

One problem you will run into when trying to keep things at KSP scale in Universe Sandbox is that nothing will keep the size you want it to - I tried creating the kerbol system in Universe Sandbox 2 and all the celestial bodies kept puffing up their size after the simulation was unpaused. Can't really keep the KSP densities in a somewhat realistic simulation.

For a "bigger" system though, I can't imagine stuff being so impossible (certainly not laggy - stuff that's on rails doesn't take up that much computing power) if you throw enough coders and caffeine at the problem. We have alternative systems made in Kopernicus, why not a procedurally generated or cleverly imported ones? (There might be a reason why this might be impossible, I wouldn't know as a non-modder - but I feel like it could probably be done)
