That's correct. The cutaway view has a toggle to turn it on when you want to see it, and it is not a replacement for IVA.

I hate the feeling I get whenever a new version of ksp is coming out, I get so excited for the new features that I stop playing the old version until the new one comes out. It does give me a very satisfying feeling whenever I do start playing again though.

You're complaining about dev time because it's dev time being applied to something you don't personally want. That doesn't mean it's wasted. It just means you're not personally invested in whatever change and future possibilities might come about from such a change. IVA was seemingly useless at first and thanks to RPM it's actually viable.

Most of us are betting that its a start to a more flushed out feature thats mentioned in the wiki, sort of how blowing up buildings in economic boom (.26?) was a precursor feature to upgradable facilities. It is important to note that whats on the wiki is not a roadmap rather a sort of conjecture by the community.
