[1.1] Andromeda Sunflares - Scatterer Addon

BlueSubstance

Recommended Posts

This addon replaces the stock sunflare with an ANDROMEDA SUNFLARE. (Disclaimer: Requires the latest version of scatterer)

There are multiple (currently three) custom flares included, here is a small list:

___________________________________________________________

Spoiler

Warm colored Flare:

The flare is slightly orange to give it a warm, welcoming look.

Cold colored Flare:

This flare is quite blue and represents the cold depths of space.

Red colored Flare:

This flare is very saturated and colorful and presents a hot look.

Have a look at the small album I put together to get a better impression!

Do you like what you see? Well, you can get this flare on SPACEDOCK:

http://spacedock.info/mod/461

The mod works with the latest version of KSP (1.1), and requires the latest SCATTERER version.

I love the way these look. The only thing I would recommend, if its possible, is to soften the edges of the sunSpike a little bit or make them a little more transparent so they don't end so abruptly?

Edit: The cold sun flare is perfect. Its just the warm flare that does it:1BuPGZU.png

UPDATE 1.3: Added a red flare

I fixed the wierd cutoff on the warm flare, and added a new one aswell. Have a look at the updated album above!

I don't see what's wrong in that picture? But I'm curious. =]

You only really notice it ingame, the flare was kinda cut off. If you brighten up the image, you will see it much better: nZeQkRo.png

some new features of Scatterer means these flares need an update. At least a config update. There seem to also be more ghost slots if a graphical update is wanted as well. I got it to work with the new configs (default warm flare):

Scatterer_sunflare
{
  Sun
  {
    //path to sunflare textures
    assetPath = scatterer/config/Sunflares/Sun

    //Flare and spikes: Centered on the sun
    //
    //
    //sunFlare.png
    flareSettings = 0.45,1,0.85

    //sunSpikes.png
    spikesSettings = 0.6,1,1

    //distance under which the flare is faded out
    //to make the sun surface visible up-close
    sunGlareFadeDistance = 250000

    // Ghosts, variable position along the sun to screen-center line
    //
    // each row is an instance of a ghost
    // 4 instances of each ghost maximum
    // if you want more ghosts or instances just contact me
    // for each row: intensity, aspect ratio, 1/scale, position on sun-screenCenter line

    // position on sun-screenCenter line: can be positive or negative
    // 0 is sun position, 1 is screen center

    //Ghost1.png
    ghost1SettingsList1  //2 used slots, 2 unused
    {
      Item = 0.56,0.65,2.3,0.5
      Item = 0.56,1,6,0.7
    }

    //Ghost2.png
    ghost2SettingsList1
    {
      Item = 0.135,1,3,0.9
      Item = 0.054,1,8,1.1
      Item = 0.054,1,4,1.3
      Item = 0.054,1,5,1.5
    }
  }
}

Hi, there is a bug with my sun flares.

The Sun Flares still have the original Sun Flares overlaying it, making it look like a huge mess of yellow and blue, could somebody let me know a way to fix it?

You need Kopernicus and this MM patch:

@Kopernicus:FINAL
{
  @Body[Sun]
  {
    @ScaledVersion
    {
      %Light
      {
        // remove (hide, really) stock sunflare
        %sunLensFlareColor = 0,0,0,0
      }
    }
  }
}
