Probe cameras for science?

I was looking at Jpl's site looking through some of Voyagers shots of jupiter to get a better desktop background when I wondered

 

Are there any mods that add cameras -> that generate science? <-

Perhaps that give missions to take photos of given areas or planetary bodies?

I know Dmagic has scan sat and that give us very nice maps and in a sense serves the same purpose but every major planetary probe I can think of has a camera stuck on there somewhere and the image analysis does produce good science. So why not  for Kerbals?

Have I missed the mod I'm looking for? is it even a good idea?

I've been wanting this real bad. Specifically, a camera part with the ability to save the images as a separate screenshot in your game directory, as well as producing science when transmitted back to Kerbin. Been really wanting to do a Cassini-style mission to Jool (or better yet, Sarnus) for a while now, and I've been unable to find a camera part that would allow this. Hullcam VDS looks like it might partly work, but I've been avoiding it because it looks like people are having a lot of issues with it in 1.1.

I know Hullcam VDS and Tarsier Space Technology take actual images. Bluedog Design Bureau has not one but three flavors of camera (film that must be returned, primitive develop and transmit film, and full digital), complete with Hullcam patches, but I'm not sure if they work at the moment.

This mod will give science for photos taken from cameras, the maintainer is looking to get it updated to v1.1 eventually
