1.1.2 really good for me

Recommended Posts

As we can clearly see from the forum post since 1.1.2 came out, the actual quality of the update seems to be hugely dependant on the user system. But this could easily be misleading as people who are satisfied will normally just spend their time playing, not commenting on the forum.

I should know, i'm telling myself i have to post this for a few day now, but was too busy playing lol.

Playin 1.0.5 (my brother's install), i seldom ever saw any CTD or bugs at all. So, when 1.1 came out, with promise of even better stability and performance, i bought it on steam (à day or two before actual release). I really was not soooo happy, as the game was now randomly crashing à lot. Then came 1.1.1, the first update in my KSP owner life. I did not knew how to prevent it from hapenning, so broken mods lead to broken saves.

But, as i was heavily modded, i took it on the chin without complaining, i was mostly responsible for it. Let a few day pass, come back to see we already are at 1.1.2.

Played all of last night, and got a single CTD, and i think i "prompted" it by erasing too many part too quickly in VAB.

Gawd am I happy. I took off the tier1 runway, and Landed the plane in the desert, worked fine. We have to be more careful than before, but 1.1.2 made it possible to fly planes again.

What really impressed me is the update performance. My very old computer was giving me an average 25/30 FPS in 1.1.0, it is now up to an average of 45/50! Quite happy about it.

So, in the midst of the negativity being throwned at SQUAD about the buggy 1.1 release, i simply wanted to say that, as far as my own cpu spécification is concerned, the game got much much better with 1.1.2.

Add your voice her if you are in my situation. Let's turn this into an "anti-negativity" thread.

I'll ask people to refrain from posting that it does not work for them. We already got plenty of thread for this. Let keep that one as some kind of "your work paid off for some players" kinda thread for when the dev comes back from vacations, they might need à positive thread to keep them motivated!

I'm surprised that no-one has posted here yet. There must be many players having a positive experience of 1.1.2.

I myself am very pleased with the upgrade; no crashes and not noticed any bugs. Keep up the good work Squad.

After a clean install the only problem I had was a total ship destruction coming out of a map view to camera view screen, but I was in deep space and at 10k time warp so that's on me. And it did freeze on me once but that was using MechJeb to Auto Execute a Duna plot, after like 30 seconds or so I brought up Task Manager to stop the process.

The biggest problem I now have with the game is that now one second of game time really is one second in real time, much less wiggle room and time to prepare.

fwiw, this on a 3.0GHz i7, 6Gb RAM, GTX 460 GPU and the game on a secondary drive SSD

^^ This!  After years of slow motion launches, the new verion looks sped up.  It's too fast, launches take no time at all.  It reminds me of looking at old film footage where everyone seems to be walking at 1.5 times normal pace!  Once I stripped out old mods and let them settle for a bit before reinstalling, It's running like a charm!

I'm quite pleased with 1.1.2 overall.

I haven't experienced any crashes so far.

I recognize that there are still some issues to be ironed out including with landing gear.  However, I've successfully flown and landed several SSTO craft designed for 1.0.5 in the new version.  I always thought horizontal landings were a bit on the easy side before, anyway.

The performance boost to my large station is wonderful!  Much of my play currently centres around that station so this is a significant 'quality of play' enhancement for me.

The improvements to the interface are vast and very enjoyable.

I'm playing a very lightly modded game (KAC and Scansat, just installed KER).

Happy landings!

Likewise, with a clean install and only a couple part mods everything is running great.

So do I. No crash, no memory related problems, I've a dozen of mods.

There as still some issues with landing struts which behave very strangely (sliding, applying torque as there is no torque running). The wheels are much better than in 1.1.1, even if I'm don't want to get into rover yet.

I also have some phantom force on a space station. But it seems it's when the lander is docked. That may be related to the landing struts again...

I run many mods, and 1.1.2 is proving to be pretty decent all around. Performance is up, out of memory crashes are gone forever. I can pack the game with graphically fancy mods and it now looks better than 1.0.5 ever did. CTDs seem to be mostly mod related, and are getting less as more updates appear.

My only gripe is wheels, which has really knackered my planes and spaceplanes, but in the end, the name of the game is Space Program - not plane program, nor rover program. Rockets still work, landers still work. Wheels will one day be fixed up a bit, and there's plenty for me to enjoy here in the meantime :)

I recently acquired a new computer, and between that and the 1.1.2 update, I could not be happier!
So far no CTD's, and the frame rate is astronomical!  Even my larger space stations like Emiko Station are running in real time with a green timer in the corner!   :D

I did have a problem with one bug during the pre-release, but patience paid off, and the DEV's got it fixed within a few days.

I also read a lot of negative stuff, especially on that "other" forum.
But so far, my experience has been really, really positive!

And I can't wait for 1.2!!!!

Exactly this, I'm currently running 90 mods and have only had a couple CTD's that are mod related. The game seems to be very stable and I'm enjoying every minute of it! :) (Though I haven't messed with docking landers to ships and doing anything with wheels, I'll leave that for later. I keep having to restart my career anyways as my mods get updated so between my five 1.1 careers I haven't unlocked wheels yet.)

I've been pretty happy with it. The performance boost is noticeable even on a fairly powerful computer (my work laptop/CAD workstation). I have the stock graphics cranked all the way up and it looks pretty good compared to what I was previously used to.

My one complaint is that 64-bit won't use my standalone NVIDIA graphics card. The output log shows the game launching with the integrated graphics card and I haven't been able to figure it out. This pretty much makes x64 unplayable because it drops frames on the start screen. I don't know if this is a problem with the game or a problem on my end.

My wife has a laptop with dual graphic chipset (one of them is NVIDIA). The driver has an option to force a specific EXE file to run with the NVIDIA chip. Dig into the NVIDIA config panel and you should find it.

I solved a similar issue with minecraft that way.

I  have been really happy with 1.1.2 myself. The work done since the prerelease  is enough to get playing and enjoy on my setup.

I read about constant CTD from other users but I have only encountered a CTD once since the first day of the pre release(on windows that is). I cant say the same for the linux binary unfortunately and I hope U5 will get updated to fix those issues :( But it doesnt really bother me much as I have no choice but to load windows for prepar3d or FSX....

Anyway I believe those CTDs to be linked to hardware architecture somehow, maybe a few could be software related but it seems weird that people'sgame either crash all the time or not at all...

About the numerous bugs I can live around them as I always have done in KSP anyway. 1.1.x is what I wanted when I first started KSP on 0.20.

Give it a few more months and it will turn up a very good brew

I'm happy with updates too! I never had really game breaking bugs since 0.18, the way game improve itself is amazing in my eyes. New graphic upgrade in 1.2 will be awesome but it's kinda sad to know that one day ksp development will stop..

I can put up with more crashes, given how much quicker the game runs with large ships. Obviously, I want the best of both eventually, but this update, bugs/crashes and all, has improved my experience

The only crashes I experienced in 1.05 were related to running quite a lot of mods.  got some pretty low framerates once I got past around 200 parts, especially on spaceplanes when I started getting flame effects.

I started a new career in 1.1.1, and was only a few flights in when 1.1.2 came out, not flown anything more about 50 parts yet, and x64 seems to be rock solid, not had a single crash yet (software crash that is, I've had loads of rocket/plane crashes :D)

I'm certainly pleased with the overall update but the game still isn't to a point I would be willing to play a career on it.  Mainly because of the wheels, I like to fly planes.  1.1 crashed horrendously for me, 1.1.2 seems to be pretty stable.  But I'm still not starting a career until we get the real 1.1 that fixes the wheels.

I have been generally happy with 1.1(waiting on community tech tree update for 1.1.2)

The higher frame-rates make launches more nerve-wracking.

I think I had 1-2 CTD and a KSC science rover with wonky wheels, but most of my problems have involved low fuel, inadequate TWR, reentry heat, or lithobreaking as opposed to game stability.

I've had the same opinion, Happy with 1.1.2 on my gaming rig, laptop almost as much due to its specs.

It helps that I don't spend time int he hangar, but the VAB :)

Yep, 1.1.2 has been fine.  I'm modding the daylights out of it and rarely if ever get a CTD.  Problem is all the people who aren't having problems are busy playing instead of posting forum issues :)

I have been playing quite a bit this past week.  The wheels are better, though not yet completely acceptable, but that will come soon enough.  I miss being able to rename ships, but that will come soon enough. I wish I had more than a laptop with integrated chipset so I could take advantage of the U5 benefits, but that will come soon enough.

KSP development is going great in my mind, it's still the best $22 I've ever spent.  Keep it up!

Setting the specific program to use the NVIDIA card didn't fix the problem:

However, I finally fixed it today. I had to disable hybrid graphics in the bios which basically disabled the integrated graphics card. I opened KSP_x64 but I haven't played yet, output log showed NVIDIA card as the graphics hardware.
