@theonegalen B or C. But I use it as an airplane cockpit, not a helicopter cockpit (not much of a chopper pilot—probably would need an actual stick for that). Also, looks amazing. Just please make them legible when zoomed out. I tend to fly with a bit of wide-angle to substitute for peripheral vision, especially during maneuvers at speed.

@Supergamervictor It's a stock feature, look at the IVA portraits, on the left side, there's a small circle you can click to overlay.

@vardicd I think that the hole in the shadows are because IVAs are inserted on the external model. I modeled them perfect with no holes but for some reason there are anyway.

@theonegalen A or D for me. I like D more but I like my monitors centered or not assymetric :P

@Veeltch I think engine overheat is possible. It's not specifically WEP though. And I don't have great knowledge about engine heat. Will have to look closer.

By the way guys, I'll keep this short, in a bit of rush. I'll let the pics explain themselves.

Sorry for asking this, but how did you get the cockpits to be transparent in the album? I installed JSI Advanced Transparent Pods, but it's not showing up. Is there custom configs for those?

There's a little circular button that shows up to the bottom-left of the crew portraits when you hover over them. Try clicking on that.

Old kax had turbo mode but he removed it later.

Check out some stock parts that creates heat, may find something useful.

theonegalen literally took same words i was going to say about it :) If possible to make those props look/render as good as possible while zoomed out a bit would be awesome. I'm also more plane pilot myself and all of them looks really nice imho. Personally i would like to see those SAS control props included and also if possible even better if monitors as centered as possible even though it might be hard to align so many props and monitors to one little pretty open view pod! Admirable work all of you guys #neverstop

@kiwinanday @Murdox

Unfortunately, due to the cockpit model and the placement of the Kerbal heads, the instrument panel isn't going to look much better than what you see there. It was useful in both 720p and 1080p, but actually reading the text on the instruments can only be done if you zoom in on them. It might be possible to make the MFD legible, but it would literally have to be rescaled to about half the size of the instrument panel itself. This is definitely going to be a cockpit where you'll have to fly visually for the most part, but can zoom in on the instruments if you have to.

Thats actually makes lot of sense since its pretty visually open view pod. Good to know also this there is not much can do about reading instruments and also thats no sense to make MFD more legible for such sacrifice. Anyways this IVA freak already waiting all new glorious IVA's and especially new ASET Stuff! Airplane Plus easily the best and must have airplane/copter part mod out.

Edit: Hard decision but if need pick one i would like to give my vote for something like D

Since we're on the topic of this, here's what I'm thinking. Some sort of circle marking on the windscreen that looks like it was drawn on with a grease pen, so that you know where center-forward is when looking around.

Spoiler

This is just a simple mockup, but the idea is that it would always stay in that position on the windshield texture. Even a crudely-drawn 'x' would fit the bill.

@kiwinanday or you can try MAF with it, it has a forward facing indicator and flies helicopters pretty well on cruise mode.

I would not like something drawn like that on the IVA though, you get used to not having it after some time.

I'm using it as an airplane cockpit, hence the wish for a vector indicator. I can wing it pretty well, but a reference is always nice to have.

@tetryds MAF works with helicopters? I tried it and my helo just rolled side to side and flipped and never leveled off. What did I do wrong? Is it an effect of reaction wheels?

@XOC2008 yes don't use too many reaction wheels, you can disable rolling for them to make it simpler.

You are doing wrong that you are not enabling cruise mode, press O until it appears on your screen that you are on this mode and have fun.

Some tweaks may be required but not much.

@kiwinanday ahh, then that makes sense.

Not sure about what can be done on that case, but there may be a better solution than adding something like that to everybody.

What about:

@tetryds Well I did have it on cruise but the rolling was insane. I usually use reaction wheels in helos to provide the correct "counter torque" that should exist from the tail rotor, but I'll yank 'em out and give it a go. I'd love to use MAF for my helos. Makes flying even more smooth than using a flight stick. Thanks!

F'sure—the only reason I bring it up is because I know that the AH-6 didn't have any advanced gunsights; pilots would set it up on a range, and mark the point of impact for the rockets and guns on the windscreen with grease pencils.

This is from a Cobra in Vietnam, but similar effect

Well, I didn't mean integrating it on the cockpit but using it if you need an indicator while flying :P

That's what I meant as well.

Also, I'm not sure how to mark the windshield in such a manner using props. I've seen a gunsight pipper from a previous mod, Aviation cockpits, maybe, and used it in the P-51 style cockpit I made back in August. Maybe something with that? But I really don't know.

@Murdox @tetryds @kiwinanday @blackheart612 can you give me any more information about why you picked the cockpit(s) you did?

I took new check with abcd lottery and still going to bet D. I really do like how all those smaller warning lights and smaller SAS/Light etc. buttons is arranged on top. Also seems that most of instruments and meters is aligned and maybe would be nice if airspeed, altitude, throttle maybe aoa things like that clustered together and then all not so important or maybe smaller instruments down there in their own cluster.. Thats only my thoughts! Sorry took some time to response i was playing around with planes & messing around with Photoshop & Flag Decals.. now its time for me to go. laters everyone!

Falcon cockpit here would definitely use some nice props too!

Because I'll be flying with the corner of the camera about here, and that gives me almost everything I need.

Also, hands down, the NK, sorry, KP-12 is the greatest engine in this mod :D

Great news, I've managed to make the nose droop animation go with the lights. So you can indeed have more than one animation. I was positive about it :D

And I have truly finished texturing the Size 2 Door. I wasn't able to show a fully furnished one on my previous post. I'll still ad a structural hull without any doors. But this one is just one part with mesh switch so you can change from a smaller airbus-like door to a bigger air-ramp door. The parts clip when attached consecutively. Just like how stock structural hulls work.

@theonegalen I mostly base on looks a little over functionality. Option D is great looking so I like it more. Though like I said, I'd prefer a monitor on the center or both sides because my brain gets ticked off a little. :P

Holes and gaps in the shadows are stock bug since 1.1 AFAIK.

Shadows in 1.1 became much worse than in 1.0.5 unfortunately... :(
