Suggestion: Kerbal Galaxy

Recommended Posts

Super-simple idea but possibly very complicated to implement / too demanding on system resources, but whatever.

Recipe for Kerbal Galaxy (serves any number).

Replace the Sun with a galactic core/black hole type body.
Replace the planets with stars.
Replace moons with planets.
Add moons to new planets.
Scale up to galactic (KSP-scale) proportions.

Spiral arms wouldn't work well in KSP, but who cares? You still have multiple star systems to visit in an inter-stellar system that makes Kerbal sense.

@Sigma88 (big fan btw):

Where is the 'no ask' list? I looked but did not find.

Really, though, I'm not actually asking for anything. I'm suggesting a way to expand KSP one astronomical step up from system of planets to system of stars. I don't really mind if every solar system is identical to the current one, since for me the challenge of getting somewhere is always more interesting than the doing of things when I get there. If your Galactic Neighborhood mod is basically what I'm talking about, I must've missed it so that's one more for me to try out :)

Maybe something like the Firefly galaxy?

Firefly had a single solar system. I'm somewhat surprised there isn't a mod for it already (or is there?).

RIC is right (tho it was a multiple star system), but this is still a wonderful idea!

There's been discussion about it recently, and I think "The Firefly Verse consists of one central star, which is orbited by 4 other stars, 7 artificial or proto-stars, and about 260 planets and moons" explains why it hasn't been done.
