Is it too late?

I know it's all rather vague, but I was wondering if it is worth starting to play the game at like 9.45 ish pm, when I know full well that I have to sleep by 10.45 to be up in the morning for work at 6am.

Ok this is a silly post, I just wondered if anyone else has missed work start time, or another important deadline because of this game / a mission you could not leave / or whatever.....

Not so much a deadline, but as the hours have slipped by, building, testing, launching, then relaunching but remembering to open the ruddy solar panels, getting an encounter, etc, I have witnessed the look on my partner's face slide from a resigned acceptance, to looking up at me like I'm a criminal.

Depending on the mission, and your computer speed, you can do something in an hour, sure.

As for myself, I'm on disability, so I have all sorts of free time, and very little to be late for.  However, having said that, I am VERY glad I found KSP after I went on disability, and not before!  If it had been around 10 years ago, this game could have gotten me in some serious trouble.

It's never too late!

I mean really it depends on what you plan to do.  Lately my career has been Kerbin-based transport and such, mostly helicopters and propeller planes, and as such, it's usually pretty easy to find contracts very near KSC.  These kinds of missions I can usually do in 5 to 30 minutes, which leaves me plenty of time to tweak the vessels I plan to use and such.

I'm lucky in that I never have to wake up any earlier than 8AM for class, so I can stay up until midnight every day and still get 8 hours of sleep, so even if I have to work on coding or math homework until 10:00PM, I still have 2 hours to play KSP instead of going to bed :) Priorities.

Since I finally got all my mods arranged and 1.1.2 playable I have been lucky to get more then 6 hours of sleep a night.  Somebody help me.. :(

Even worse is when I have to be at work in 30 minutes in the morning and start playing up until the 25 minute mark.  ::shakes fist::

I worked 6 days last week and decided that Sunday was definatley going to be a day for relaxing and doing nothing work related.  Turned on KSP at about 11 am, 7 pm I realised it was probably about time to get dinner and do something else lol.

If you are in a career, can always start a sandbox save on the side and just tinker with wacky designs.  See if you can get a double decker bus into orbit.  Try to drill into the launchpad, or into a kerbal.  Just need a pointy part and a way to stabilize the pointy part as you spin and thrust it downward.  Practice your mortar skills and launch dumb rockets at the abandoned runway from the KSC, seeing what gets the closest with zero inflight manipulation by you.

In Civilization this affection is called the 'One More Turn' syndrome.

In KSP it manifests itself as a 'one more launch' or 'one more maneuvre node' (especially if one has a dozen simultaneous missions running, who's maneuvres are kept track of by alarm clock).

For most people this is a normal response and does not require any specific medication of therapy. Do keep in mind that prolonged depreviation of sleep wil impact mental and physical performance and health.

If you start to notice any negative effects, you might want to cut down on work or school related activities. Obviously KSP is more important than such trivialities.

If in doubt, please consult your doctor or mental health specialist.

In my case it would be the "one more experimental craft design" syndrome. I spend more time in VAB than in flight. I spend more time building the craft for a Duna mission than I actually spend doing the Duna mission. VAB is my happy place.:D

The sandbox is also nice for testing out stuff to see if they work, think of it as an simulation

It is never too late for a good ol' Mun mission...  Or maybe Eve?  Heck, that is all to easy!  An Eeloo mission is always fun.  Now that I think about it, why not an Eeloo colony?  We got time...

*5 hours later*

I may have overestimated it.  just a little.  One more craft though.

Woke up after a few hours sleep last night with plans for a Duna demo ship.  Wasn't going to get back to sleep before I tried it.  Gripping hand; I've just been given a bicycle so I can get to work quicker anyway...

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.  (Normally I go to bed earlier when I don't have work the next day, because there'll be more time for KSP then anyway).

That's a good rule, i try to follow it myself, mostly because my PC is in my bedroom and it produces A LOT of heat. I don't even need an extra heater in the winter, even have to have my winow open in the winter sometimes when playing KSP. KSP is good for testing the cooling in your computer. ^_^

SQUAD always seem to release a new update when ever I have exams or essays to give in soon. Normally I will procrastinate by playing KSP but it is not enjoyable,

I find it helps to do the work first and then play KSP guilt free!

Found the AMD user :P

Yeah, KSP does suck up quite a bit of time, you've got to have a couple of free hours to even consider playing. Also, is the OP still playing? They missed you at work today!
