Possible to disable diamond icon that hovers over another ship when rendezvousing?

When the spaceship I'm piloting comes close to another spaceship in orbit a diamond icon appears over the other ship indicating the distance to that ship. Is there a way to disable the diamond icon?

I learned yesterday if you hit backspace in the map view while flying a craft, it re-focuses the view on your craft.
