Elon Musk thinks we live in the Matrix.

Kerbiloid you are a neophyte to a 3000 year old debate between science and religion. If K2 and I disagree about some aspect of science it means that we agree to allow future experimentation to solve that debate. What you are arguing is something timeless religious adherants have argued, that if the scientific explanation is not perfect and exact, that any defects can be explained by religion then religion must be valid, even if the explanation religion provides is contrived. In all past instances science found an answer and religion was successively removed from science. One of the last you will remember is that god does not play dice with the universe. Science is the realm of the physical, religion is the realm of the spiritual, they both work best for their causes when they adhere to their areas of specialization. The matrix is fiction, its new age mythology, its turf is in the mind, not in the lab.

On Y2K, the "day after," I remember an incredibly surreal feeling coming over me. I wondered if the Earth had actually ended, and some advanced race had snatched us up at the last minute and placed us in a simulation to make us think we were still on Earth. Yeah, crazy. But Jan 1 felt really REALLY weird, even without such musing.

On a more serious note, my feeds have been flooded a LOT lately with stories about reality possibly being a simulation. And even experiments trying to prove it.

Elon Musk is the right type of crazy.

Here's to the end of the world, because that seems to be the most likely scenario. Cheers.

Heres another logical chain that ends in a disturbing conclusion.

If humans learn to colonize other planets and solar systems, the species will last forever because it would be hard to wipe us all out at that point.

If humans accomplish this, there will be countless humans over billions of years....

So if there are going to be some many humans existing in the future and you are going to randomly pick one of them to be...wouldnt it have been much more likely that you would have been living in a spacefaring, intergalactic civilization, since so many more people will live in that civilization than this single planet version of civilization...

It is more likely that humans will not be around forever or much longer in fact, simply because you exist now, and it would have been far far more likely to have existed much later in our timeline, if there was a much later.
