Jool.jpg

Jool. That great green gas giant we all love.

Well, except me, Jool is #3 On my favorite planet list, but you get the idea. Dres is #1.

You might remember me as "that guy who has HUUUUUUUGE ships" or as "that guys who really likes Dres," but yeah.

So, The Jool 5 challenge. One of the most famous challenges ever. Everything is ready. The main cruiser, called the KSS Creativity, and maybe the lander launch tomorrow.

Yes, tomorrow because I didn't have time today.

*facepalm*

Uh, but yeah. Sorry guys.

*facepalm*

(And, yes the name is a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey.)

I wish you the best of luck on this endeavor! Back when I tried to do a Jool 5, my Vall lander ran out of fuel and I had to cheat a bit on the way home. So it was sort of a Jool 4... anyways, can't wait to see the Creativity!

Yeah, I kinda over engineered the main lander...

The Tylo decent stage alone can almost get the whole lander to LKO, the lander itself has an abort system with lander legs, so it still land on Laythe and land and return from Vall. The abort system has an abort system with structural panel landing skids, so it can land and return from Bop and Pol, and maybe land on Vall. Also, the whole mothership can land on Bop or Pol to refuel. I'm probably going to use Bop because Pol has big mountains, and plus a lot of weird glitchyness like invisible mountains, floating ships, and FTL Kraken attacks. Bop just has a dead kraken Easter egg.

The KSS Creativity is almost 50% bigger than a Watney, and the rocket uses thuds for separation rockets. It's an irsu ship that is powered completely by RTGs. It carries a small space station in the bay which will be left at Jool orbiting Laythe, Tylo, or Vall. After unloading the payload and dumping the Tylo decent stage, the lander can just barely fit in the bay.

After I'm with this mission, I might put the KSS Creativity on KerbalX. Might.

I wonder what I might find on this mission... I heard there are old shipwrecks of all kinds of ships from all different space agencies floating in the Sagen Sea!

Chapter 1-Err... Technical Difficulties...

Gene: ok, we are go for launch!

Crew: AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! NO WAIT!!!

Gene: why?

Crew: we didn't do the launch tradition of running the ksc monolith over with a big rover!

Gene: fine. 30 minutes.

30 minutes later...

Gene: Ok, we are-

Bobak: ABORT THE LAUNCH!!!

Gene: why?

Bobak: All the oxidizer boiled off!!!

Gene: *facepalm*

Gene: fine. roll out the lander!

Gus: Got it!

XgOFpiU.jpg

Jotrix: READY FOR LAUNCH!

Jeb: I think it's annoying you can't come pick me up from orbit.

Gene: Well, you know the rules.

kyVj7Ba.jpg

Jotrix: I can't see anything out this fairing!

kKuChim.jpg

Jotrix: THE SPEED THING SAYS I'M GOING TO FAST!!!

Bobak: Hey, 42 seconds into the mission!

Gene: When they normally explode...

r2Rx0go.jpg

*BLAM*

JxSfqRB.jpg

Bill: according to the onboard sensors, the fight log, and the fact that we don't have a fourth wall here, it appears that the boosters didn't have enough decouple force, which caused the boosters to fall inwards and hit the main stack.

Gus: what about the FairingPanel part in the report?

Bill: Stage 2 decouples the boosters and deploys the fairing. Remember, it's a big fairing, so the separation couldn't safely get it out of the way. Also, it has a lot of parts and is an 8 side confetti fairing. Lots of parts. The solution would be to add big separation rockets to the boosters and to make it a 2 sided clamshell fairing. And increase the decouple force all the way up.

Gus: got it! Give it... A day?

Me: already done.

Gus: ok! And the Creativity is refueled and ready!

Later...

i7Tyifc.jpg

Jotrix: yay I'm not dead!

Bobbald: And I'm going to land on Vall!

Mort: WHAT THE [long string of beeps]!!!

*Mort then faints and wakes up 8 hours later*

bONPkT8.jpg

Gene: Liftoff!

Leebelle: I can't wait for Laythe!

Lizbelle: Why is there a big black thing on my iva portrait?

Gus: whoops, moved the crew modules a little to far forward. Think the camera is stuck in the Mk1-2 pod.

Bill: This is a truly Kerbal rocket.

Jeb: Well, it could use a few more boosters...

Gene: NO.

uNHH8sW.jpg

Jotrix: nice lights show!

Bobbald: being optimistic isn't going to help!

WcnEQst.jpg

Jotrix: you're right. AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Bobbald: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Belle sisters in the back: AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Gus: well, your Thud SRBs for separation worked, Bill.

Bill: not quite. They need to be angled sideways a little more and need most of the fuel removed. The boosters were pushed mostly down, which because of aerodynamics impacted the booster, destroying the side stacks. The second stage on its own can't make orbit from that height.

BUO7mHK.jpg

Bobbald: "Reverting will set the game back to an earlier state. Are you sure you want to continue?" YES!!! KRAKEN HELP US!!!

Bill: Ok, we have work to do. First, the lander must have the decouple force increased and set to a two sided clamshell. Bill: Max you have that done?

Me: Yes.

Mort's Brother: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! FOURTH WALLS ARE SO EXPENSIVE!!!

Gene: yes.

*Mort's Bother faints*

Bill: On the Creativity the Thuds need to be angled out more, and they need all fuel except for 14 units removed. Also, in the sims Jotrix needs to practice landing on Tylo. Remember Jotrix: Low orbit, pitch up to maintain altitude, turn east as soon as possible to take advantage of the vacuum.

Gene: Everyone knows there jobs.

*Revert*

Gene: Ok, GO!

End of chapter 1!

Good news! I figured out the booster problem! In addition to the boosters hitting the main rocket, the fairings were slamming into the boosters. So I just removed the fairings and angled the boosters more, and it worked!

New chapter tomorrow!

Also, school ends this week! Whoo summer! More time = more chapters!

Probably also because of the benefits of mirror symmetry. It makes giant spacecraft look cool

You do know that you can press R and change your symmetry type (mirror or radial) no matter what building you're in, right?

Chapter 2 continued: I hate mobile ksp.

Ok. Mobile was going crazy and lagging really bad, so I'm back. On the computer.

Bobak: booster seperation.

Jotrix: AAAAAAAAAA!!!

Bobbald: KRAKEN HELP- Oh hey. We're alive.

Samgard: Almost...

Gerty: I opened the bay doors and deployed the radiators!

Bobak: so much nicer than KAL.

Jotrix: We didn't die!

Bobbald: Yet.

Gene: Veeeeery helpful indeed.

Samgard: Launch the refueler/interplanetery booster!

Gus: got it!

Lizbelle: where do you guys even store your huge rockets?

Gus: I'm not actually sure.

next morning...

Mort: ah! What a nice rest!

*goes and looks out window*

Mort:  JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

end of chapter 2!

Fun facts: The Ludicrous Launch System has 96 Vectors on the first stage. Also, it was originally designed for an april fools day prank on Mort.

I almost laughed out loud at that :D

And I actually spelled Laughed as Launched. Been playing too much KSP lately :D

I think they store and build the rockets outside on the ground. :P

chapter 3: Will Not Go To Space Today.

Mort: WHAT THE MOHO IS THAT?!?

Gene: Oh, Just A Tiny Refueler...

Mort: TINY?!? I want you to recover that right-

Gerty: I just put that in a spoiler for the readers.

Gene: Thanks.

SAh7oyX.png

Walt: uh oh... The environmental guys won't like that...

Gus: all 96 vectors and the payload? your right about that...

Walt: that will be really bad for our reputation.

Gene: Max you have permission to revert.

Me: got it.0VgLmJt.png

Gene: Needs more struts.

Gerty: Will Not Go To Space Today.

*revert*

Oh. Someone reverts as much as I do! Awesome! :D

Yep. I also purposely blew it up in mid air another time after that, and most of the vectors survived, and I would assume that the fuel would leak into the ocean when the payload impacts, so it would be really bad.
